Manitoba Forest Management Licence Agreement Areas – Version 3
This feature class represents Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries. The Forest Act provides for the establishment of Forest Management Licences to provide a continuous supply of timber to the forest industry. A Forest Management Licence, granted for a period of not more than twenty years, may be renewed for further periods. The Forest Management Licence describes the land upon which trees may be cut, the volume of wood that may be harvested, and other terms and conditions. There are currently two Forest Management Licences in Manitoba, FML-2 and FML-3 . Timber management and forest renewal are the responsibilities of Manitoba Sustainable Government on Crown Forest Land outside of Forest Management Licence areas, and within Forest Management Licence areas where the wood is used by a facility other than that operated by the Forest Management Licensee. Version 3 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries includes FML-2 and FML-3. Previous boundaries associated with FML-1 and IWSA's have been removed. To update and improve the positional accuracy of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries, written descriptions of FML areas were referenced along with linework from Forest Land Inventories (FLI), Forest Resource Inventories (FRI) and Manitoba's township fabric to improve Provincial FML boundaries. Boundary linework the following related geospatial datasets were topologically checked for coincident linework: Manitoba Provincial Boundary; Manitoba Forest Management Units ; Manitoba Forest Management Licence Agreement Areas; Manitoba Forest Sections; Manitoba Provincial Forests . Fields Included: FML_NAME : Forest Management Licence area name.
Manitoba Forest Management License Areas (FML) – Version 4
Manitoba's Forest Management Licence Area (FML) Boundaries – Version 4.The Forest Act provides for the establishment of Forest Management Licences to provide a continuous supply of timber to the forest industry. A Forest Management Licence, granted for a period of not more than 20 years, may be renewed for further periods. The Forest Management Licence describes the land upon which trees may be cut, the volume of wood that may be harvested, and other terms and conditions. There are currently three Forest Management Licences in Manitoba. Timber management and forest renewal are the responsibilities of Manitoba Conservation on Crown Forest Land outside of Forest Management Licence areas, and within Forest Management Licence areas where the wood is used by a facility other than that operated by the Forest Management Licensee. Version 4 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries incorporates minor edits made to the BDY_MB_FMU_PY feature class, ensuring coincident line work with the provincial boundary and provincial forests. Version 3 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries includes FML-2 and FML-3. Previous boundaries associated with FML-1 and IWSAs have been removed. To update and improve the positional accuracy of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries, written descriptions of FML areas were referenced along with line work from Forest Land Inventories (FLI), Forest Resource Inventories (FRI) and Manitoba's township fabric to improve p rovincial FML boundaries. Boundary line work for all of the following feature classes were topologically checked for coincident line work: 1. BDY_MB_FMU_PY (Provincial FMUs); 2. Provincial Boundary; 3. Vessel Density Mapping of 2013 AIS Data in the Northwest Atlantic
The Automatic Identification System (AIS) is a global, satellite-based and terrestrial-based ship tracking system that uses shipborne equipment to remotely track vessel identification and positional information and is typically required on vessels of 300 gross tonnage or more on an international voyage, of 500 gross tonnage or more not on an international voyage, and passenger ships of all sizes. AIS tracking technologies are primarily used in support of real-time maritime domain awareness and for maritime security and safety of life at sea. This report describes a geographic information system (GIS) analysis of 2019 AIS data to produce yearly and monthly vessel density maps of all vessel classes combined and yearly density maps of each vessel class. The year 2019 was selected to portray shipping densities in a pre-COVID 19 pandemic depiction of the maritime transport sector in the Northwest Atlantic. Vessel density map applications include use in spatial analysis and decision support for marine spatial planning. In 2023 the process was applied to the years 2013 through to 2022 and were made available using the same processes that were applied to the original 2019 datasets.
Torquay Zero Edge
These structure, isopach and zero edge files are part of a series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project. The series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project have been produced using 2 km equi-spaced modified grids generated from Golden Software’s Surfer 9 kriging algorithm. The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.
Survey for the assessment of Unit 2 Redfish (CCGS John Cabot)
Monitoring of Unit 2 redfish by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) ceased in 2002. Since then, the Atlantic Groundfish Council (AGC, formerly the Groundfish Enterprise Allocation Council [GEAC]) has funded surveys approximately every two years in the area, in collaboration with DFO. Over the years, various vessels and gear types have been used. In 2024, a comparative survey was conducted using the CCGS John Cabot and a fishing industry vessel (the Léry Charles) to develop conversion factors that allow data from the 2020, 2022, and 2024 Unit 2 redfish surveys to be standardized to CCGS John Cabot equivalents. The survey covered the waters off southwestern Newfoundland and eastern Cape Breton, corresponding to redfish management Unit 2, which includes NAFO subdivisions 3Pn, 3Ps, 4Vn, 4Vs, and 4W. Here, data collected aboard the CCGS John Cabot are presented. Objectives• Assess the abundance and condition of groundfish and invertebrates• Assess environmental conditions• Inventory the biodiversity of benthic and demersal megafauna• Monitor the pelagic ecosystem• Collect samples for various research projectsData The CCGS John Cabot employed a four-sided modified Campelen 1800 shrimp trawl, fitted with a Rockhopper ("bicycle") footgear. The trawl extension and codend were lined with 12.7 mm knotless nylon mesh. Standard trawl tows were 15 minutes in duration, timed from bottom contact, with a target towing speed of 3 knots. For each fishing tow, the catch is sorted and weighed by taxa; individuals are then counted and biological data are collected on a subsample. For fish, crab and squid, size and weight are measured by individual and, for some species, sex, gonad maturity, and the weight of certain organs (stomach, liver, gonads) are also evaluated. The soft rays of the anal fin are counted for redfish, and the otoliths are sampled for several species such as Atlantic cod, Atlantic halibut, and Greenland halibut. Roughly 2-kg of shrimp are sorted and weighed by species. The other invertebrates are counted (no individual measurements) and photographed. The biological data are divided into 3 files: a “Stations” file containing set information, a “Catches” file containing catches per set for all species caught and a “Carbio” file containing biological and morphometric measurements per individual all species measured except shrimps. The columns source_info, no_survey, nbpc and station_number serve as a common key linking the three datasets. To further link the “Captures” and the “Carbio” files to the species level (for fish and certain invertebrate species), use the columns source_info, no_survey, nbpc, station_number, strap_code, and category. Further shrimp biological and morphometric data are available but are not presented here in order to simplify data presentation. For access to the complete information, please contact the data management team (gddaiss-dmsaisb@dfo-mpo.gc.ca). The latest published data is preliminary and will be updated at the end of January of the following year.It is important to note that this is raw data. Only sets considered successful are retained. In each set, all species are kept, with a few exceptions. Data is available from 1997-2022 but please contact the data management team (gddaiss-dmsaisb@dfo-mpo.gc.ca) for access and further details. For any other information please also contact the data management team.

Bay of Fundy Sea Scallop Commercial Size Abundance Data
This dataset represents abundance data of commercial size Sea Scallop (Placopecten magellanicus; ≥ 80 mm shell height) from 2011-2023 from the Bay of Fundy Inshore Scallop Survey. Data is binned into 5-mm shell height bins, is prorated to an 800 m tow length and 17.5 feet (5.334 m) drag width (i.e., representing an area swept of 4267 m2), and was collected using unlined dredge gear. Each row represents a tow and contains information such as tow date, cruise name, gear type, geographical coordinates (decimal degrees, WGS 84) and the Scallop Production Area in which the tow took place. Survey protocols are documented in Glass (2017). This dataset contains tow data from a comparative survey conducted in 2012 (Smith et al., 2013). Further, these data correspond to the publication of Hebert et al. (2025).ReferencesGlass, A. 2017. Maritimes Region Inshore Scallop Assessment Survey: Detailed Technical Description. Can. Tech. Rep.
