The mapping depicts the relative abundance of segregated ice in upper permafrost at a national scale. The mapping is based on modelling by O'Neill et al. (2019) (https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-13-753-2019). The mapping offers an improved depiction of ground ice in Canada at a broad scale, incorporating current knowledge on the associations between geological and environmental conditions and ground ice type and abundance. It provides a foundation for hypothesis testing related to broad-scale controls on ground ice formation, preservation, and melt.

A national map of Canadian Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Fuel Types (FT) developed from public data sources. The resolution of the raster grid is 30m, classified from the Spatialized Canadian National Forest Inventory (SCANFI) dataset, ecozones of Canada, and the National Burned Area Composite (NBAC). The purpose of the dataset is to characterize Canadian forests into fuel types for use in Fire Behaviour Prediction calculations as well as for situational awareness of national fire potential.

The Drainage Areas dataset is largely based on the Water Survey of Canada (WSC) drainage area boundaries at the sub-sub-basin level. The data model supports the derivation, from the Fundamental Drainage Areas dataset (sub-sub-basin level), of the WSC and Atlas of Canada drainage area hierarchies and the data is available in all three schemes. Drainage area definitions for both WSC and Atlas of Canada boundaries were reviewed resulting in some modifications. Larger scale reference data sources were used for further manual boundary adjustments. This dataset has been integrated with other National Scale Frameworks hydrology datasets and is considered a component of the Hydrology Theme (see Supplemental Information for more details about the Atlas of Canada National Frameworks data at the 1:1,000,000 scale).The Atlas Frameworks are a set of integrated base map layers which form part of a larger National-Scale Frameworks data collection.
