Canadian Impact Assessment Registry – Assessment Inventory
The assessments layer represents all assessments undertaken under the Impact Assessment Act, including those that continue under the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012. It includes assessments undertaken by the Impact Assessment Agency and other federal authorities as posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Internet site. The location of a given assessment included in the dataset is approximate and is based on information submitted by proponents, if applicable. More than one location may be identified for a given assessment. This dataset does not include information related to the footprint.Additional information about this dataset is available on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Internet site.
Astrobleme
This dataset represents the locations of postulated astroblemes (impact structures) in the Province of Saskatchewan Canada. This dataset represents the locations of postulated astroblemes (meteorite impact structures) in the Province of Saskatchewan Canada. This dataset was compiled through bedrock geology mapping projects, noting unique impact areas. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and made available for public distribution.**Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule.

Know concentration areas of the Softshell clam in the intertidal zone of the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence
The dataset represents known concentration areas of harvested or unharvested Softshell clam (Mya arenaria) in the intertidal zone of the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Quebec region. The dataset was created for the National environmental emergencies centre (NEEC) for preparation and response in case of an oil spill. Concentration areas were defined using Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) inventories conducted between 2000 and 2020.This layer is dependent on the inventories carried out and thus only represents known clam areas. For example, for the Haute-Côte-Nord, inventories have been limited to areas open to harvesting (with the exception of 4 sectors), but it is known that the Softshell clam is also present outside these areas. In addition, little information was available for the Moyenne and Basse-Côte-Nord.This data layer does not represent the general distribution of the species nor the extent to which fishing is allowed. The extent of shellfish beds may vary over time in response to, among others harvesting and the recruitment rates. The boundaries of polygons from inventory data may be underestimated relative to the actual size of the deposit since the inventories were conducted at the location where the resource is most abundant, without necessarily sampling the entire bed. However, the accuracy is sufficient for the protection and management needs of the resource in the event of an environmental incident. Data sources and references:Brulotte, S. 2011. Drought Impact Type
The Drought Impact Label dataset is used on all drought polygons from D1 to D4 to specify the longitude and magnitude of impacts. Impact labels are often used in association with the Drought Impact Line dataset. The impact labels are classified as follows:S – Short-Term, typically less than 6 months.L – Long-Term, typically more than 6 months.SL – A combination of Short and Long-Term impacts.
Lac-Mégantic accident: aerial photography by Aéro-Photo after the incident (July 10, 2013)
On July 6, a train of 72 cars, carrying 100 tons of crude oil each, exploded in Lac-Mégantic. A high-resolution aerial photograph was collected by Aéro-Photo after the train derailment. This aerial photograph was provided and georeferenced by Aéro-Photo (1961) inc. Purpose: This aerial photograph makes it possible to identify the impact radius of the accident. The image web service (WMS) is offered as an open service. However, to obtain the raw image, please contact Aéro-Photo (1961) inc.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
MetNotes
MetNotes are a geo- and time-referenced, free form polygon product issued by MSC that complement today's location-based dissemination systems. The concise text of a MetNote (similar to a Tweet) is consistent with communication today where people are seeking information at a glance. Meteorologists will issue a MetNote to add contextual and/or impact information to complement the public forecast that is valid over a specific area, for a specific time range.
Lobster Proxy Mapping - Newfoundland and Labrador
Proxied dataset of inshore lobster commercial fishing for 2012 - 2021 in the Newfoundland and Labrador region. Only lobster harvested from the Newfoundland and Labrador region are included, based on species sought.Commercial data for the inshore lobster fishery does not require a set of coordinates be provided for catch records. With zero georeferenced inshore lobster records, the inshore lobster fishery leaves a major data gap in one of Newfoundland and Labradors largest fisheries. The Gulf region created a lobster proxy mapping tool, which associated each commercial lobster record with the most likely 10km2 hexagon grid cell based on a number of weighted variables. The tool was adopted by the Newfoundland and Labrador region and altered to work with its own variables which include human use, habitat, accessibility, area/location, home port distance, traditional ecological knowledge and depth. Each hexagon represents the summed total weight of all records associated with a particular hexagon. The best available commercial data used in this model is derived from landings data and may not include catches that have resulted in cash/wharf sales. As a result, there are some areas of Newfoundland and Labrador that may be under represented in this dataset where wharf sales may be high. Therefore, this dataset should be viewed as a general estimation on lobster harvesting patterns within Newfoundland and Labrador.
