Forest Tenure Cutblock Polygons (FTA 4.0)
This is a spatial layer that reflects operational activities for cutblocks contained within harvesting authorities. The Forest Tenures Section (FTS) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of digital Forest Atlas files for the province of British Columbia encompassing Forest and Range Act Tenures. It also supports the forest resources programs delivered by MoFR. Each feature contains a Ministry of Forests and Range (MoFR) FEATURE_CLASS_SKEY (number) column that further defines the type of that feature. The layer contains cutblock boundaries for the following feature classes: Forest Licence Cut Block (555), Licence to Cut Cut Block (616), Timber Licence Cut Block (810), Timber Sale Licence Major Cut Block (817), Timber Sale Licence Minor CB Non Replaceable (820), Tree Farm Licence Cut Block (833), Wood Lot Licence Cut Block (863), Community Forest Cut Block (2402), and Timber Sale Licence Minor CB Replaceable (2417). Each cut block has a life cycle status that is either PENDING - the cut block has been submitted as a new cut block or an amendment, but is not yet approved or rejected, ACTIVE - the cut block is approved and activities may be taking place on the cut block, or RETIRED - all activities, with respect to the harvesting authority, have been completed for the cut block
GOA Alberta Regeneration Information System Opening Numbers
The Alberta Regeneration Information System (ARIS) requires a unique identifier assigned to a cutblock to enable tracking within ARIS. This number is generated from a point roughly derived from the centre of the cutblock. The number is a concatenation of the point's legal description plus a grid cell number. The format is MRRTTTSSGG where M - Meridian, RR - Range, TTT - Township, SS - Section, GG - grid cell. The MRRTTSS information is derived with reference to the Alberta Township System. The grid cell is derived from a 10 by 10 grid that is overlaid on the section that the centre of the cutblock is contained in. Grid cells are numbered between 00 - 99 with the grid origin at the bottom left corner of the section and anchored to the centre of grid cell 00. The first digit represents the grid column and the second digit is the grid row of the 10 by 10 matrix. Note that in some cases a letter may be appended to the end of the opening number where an opening number had to be split between two cutblocks for some reason. For example, cutblocks may have the same basic opening number but one is differentiated from the other with one having an A and the other having a B appended to the end of the base opening number.This dataset contains all the potential opening numbers in the Green Area of the province, either as a whole or by Forest Management Unit (FMU).

Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulation Routes
These lines represent routes within Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulation Areas where motor vehicles are prohibited or restricted year round or seasonally. These lines were created as a visual representation of the Wildlife Act Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulations. Under the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulation of the provincial Wildlife Act, motor vehicle use on crown land in B.C. may be prohibited or restricted. This data is a summary of the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulations, and is intended for general information purposes only. Where there is a discrepancy between these maps and the Regulations, the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulations are the final authority. Motor Vehicle Prohibitions (MVP) are put in place for a variety of reasons. MVPs can be used to: * protect habitat * reduce disturbance and displacement of wildlife * provide areas for hunters on foot, bike or horseback to hunt without motorized vehicles present * reduce hunter harvest while maintaining hunting opportunity Motor vehicles include but are not limited to: * vehicles * ATVs/UTVs * snowmobiles * motorcycles * electric bikes For full definitions and detailed regulations, visit the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Regulations website (available under Related Links). There are 2 types of motor vehicle restrictions under the Wildlife Act, and all types can be seasonal or year-round. 1. **Motor Vehicle Closed Area** (formerly referred to as Access Management Areas (AMAs): Prohibits the use or operation of a motor vehicle and e-bike. These prohibitions can be for all motor vehicles, or specific to ATVs/e-bikes or snowmobiles. 2. **Motor Vehicle Hunting Closed Area**: The operation of motor vehicles and e-bikes to hunt, transport wildlife, transport equipment and supplies which are intended for or in support of hunting, or transport hunters to and from the location of wildlife is prohibited. These prohibitions can apply to all motor vehicles, or be specific to ATVs/e-bikes or snowmobiles.
Trapping Concessions - 250k
Registered Trapping Concessions (RTCs) are legal boundaries that define an area where the holder of the concession has the exclusive right to trap furbearing animals. Because trapping is done primarily along waterways, RTCs are often defined by watersheds, using height of land (ridges and mountain peaks) as their boundaries. This is the opposite of GMAs which are defined by mountains. Sometimes RTCs are grouped together to form a Group Trapping Concession (in which groups of individual share the right to trap). This may or may not involve the elimination of the component RTC boundaries. The Yukon has 360 RTCs and 13 Group Trapping Concessions. Only Kluane National Park, Kluane Wildlife Sanctuary, and Ddhaw Ghro Habitat Protection are are not covered by RTCs. Automatically Extracted Buildings
“Automatically Extracted Buildings” is a raw digital product in vector format created by NRCan. The feature classes of this product delineate polygonal building footprints automatically extracted from airborne Lidar data, high-resolution optical imagery or other sources.The first feature class, Automatically Extracted Buildings by acquisition source, contains building footprints delivered according to the spatial extent of each source dataset used for extraction. When the spatial extents of acquisition sources overlap, footprints for the same building may therefore be duplicated in this class.The second feature class, Optimized Buildings Layer, is an assembled and harmonized layer derived from the buildings by acquisition source. Its objective is to provide a unique representation of each building footprint by removing duplicates and resolving overlaps between sources.
Pelagic Shark Satellite Tag data - Basking Shark
The basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus), is a species found in Atlantic Canadian waters which is mostly encountered “basking” on the surface waters and sometimes caught accidentally in commercial fisheries. One Pop-up Satellite Archival Tag (PSAT Mk10) from Wildlife Computers was applied to a single female basking shark in September 2008 on a commercial vessel to collect data on depth (pressure), temperature and ambient light level (for position estimation). The basking shark was 610 cm Total Length (curved). The tag released on the pre-programmed date 125 days after deployment. Raw data transmitted from the PSAT’s after release was processed through Wildlife Computers software (GPE3) to get summary files, assuming a maximum swimming speed of 2m/s, NOAA OI SST V2 High Resolution data set for SST reference and ETOPO1-Bedrock dataset for bathymetry reference. The maximum likelihood position estimates are available in .csv and .kmz format and depth and temperature profiles are also in .csv format. A building is a structure that has a roof and walls and stands more or less permanently in one place. Symbols are used when buildings and structures are permanent landmarks. Symbolized buildings have no side larger than 50 metres for 1:20,000 data or no side larger than 30 metres for 1:10,000 data. Small structures (including buildings less than 50 square metres) are not shown unless they constitute a point of orientation. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software. Traplines of British Columbia
This dataset delineates areas for which registration is granted to one or more licensed trappers for the trapping of fur bearing animals under the BC Wildlife Act. Traplines are designated by a regional manager of the recreational fisheries and wildlife programs. The Wildlife Act regulates who may set a trap for, hunt, kill, take or capture a fur bearing animal within a trapline.
