Indigenous Boundaries - Core Areas
During negotiations of the Umbrella Final Agreement, Kluane First Nation (KFN) and White River First Nation (WRFN) began negotiations together under one organization, the Kluane Tribal Council, which submitted one map of a traditional territory (Boundary) on behalf of both KFN and WRFN. Attempts were made to reach agreement with KFN and WRFN on how the map should be divided between both groups. As a result, a “KFN Core Area”, “WRFN Core Area” and the “KFN-WRFN Core Areas” map was incorporated into the KFN Final Agreement. These regions are defined in Section 2 as Specific Provisions: Specific Provision"KFN Core Area" means the area identified as Kluane First Nation Core Area on Map Sheet "KFN-WRFN Core Areas", Appendix B – Maps, which forms a separate volume to this Agreement. Specific Provision "WRFN Core Area" means the area identified as White River First Nation Core Area on Map Sheet "KFN-WRFN Core Areas", Appendix B – Maps, which forms a separate volume to this Agreement. KFN signed its Final Agreement, obtaining Treaty Rights, in 2003. For the purpose of this data set, a Treaty Right refers to an Indigenous (“Aboriginal”) right that has been recognized in a treaty.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps). FINAL SK2 Central Caribou Habitat Management Areas
Caribou habitat management areas identify zones ("tiers") with similar importance to caribou, potential risks and primary strategies for caribou conservation. These Final Caribou Habitat Management Areas (CHMAs) are based on known woodland caribou use and habitat potential mapping; in addition, levels of both human-caused and wildfire disturbances were also taken into consideration. Tier 1 areas were selected because they include high-moderate caribou habitat potential with high levels of observed caribou use and low levels of human-caused disturbance. Tier 2 areas were selected because they include areas of high-moderate woodland caribou habitat potential with observed use and higher levels of wildfire and human-caused disturbance. Tier 3 areas provide general habitat and maintain habitat connectivity between Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas. These areas are not permanent: they will be updated as habitat conditions, land use and caribou populations change over time. Different strategies have been developed for each Tier based on their stated management objectives and relative importance to and known use by caribou, current habitat condition and potential risks. A two page overview of the SK2 Central Woodland Caribou Range Plan and the CHMAs can be viewed here: https://publications.saskatchewan.ca/#/products/122353Find out more about woodland caribou and what the province is doing to manage their habitat and protect their populations: https://www.saskatchewan.ca/business/environmental-protection-and-sustainability/wildlife-and-conservation/wildlife-species-at-risk/woodland-caribou-program
FADM - Pulpwood Agreement
The spatial representation for a Pulpwood Agreement, which is a 25 year term agreement, replaceable every ten years, that allows the holder of a wood-fibre processing facility to harvest Crown pulp timber if sufficient quantities of raw material are not available to the holder from other sources. Covers a large area in one or more Timber Supply Areas or TFLs.
Monthly Satellite Sea Surface Temperature Climatology of the Canadian Pacific Exclusive Economic Zone (1990-2020) – 4 km Resolution
Description:Night-time sea surface temperature (SST) was acquired from the AVHRR Pathfinder project, with data distributed by NOAA, and averaged into monthly climatological composites. The data span 1990 through 2020 at 4 km pixel resolution. Methods:AVHRR Pathfinder version 5.3 Level 3C night Sea Surface Temperature (SST) was acquired from NOAA at 4 km spatial resolution. The monthly mean value at all pixels was calculated for individual years, then all years were combined to produce final maps of monthly mean and monthly standard deviation of SST, and the number of occurrences of each pixel over the period of observation. The quality level of all satellite observations was also acquired with this dataset, and used to remove any pixels with a quality level lower than 4. Further, pixels with fewer than two occurrences over the period 1990-2020 were removed from these maps, and set to a NaN value in the tif files. All resulting rasters were cropped to the Canadian Exclusive Economic Zone and assigned to the NAD83 geographic coordinate reference system (EPSG:4269), and have a final pixel resolution of approximately 0.0417 degrees. The monthly mean, monthly standard deviation, and number of occurrences for all pixels are provided.Uncertainties:Satellite values have been evaluated against global datasets, and datasets of samples in the Pacific region (see references). However, uncertainties are introduced when averaging together images over time as each pixel has a differing number of observations. Short-lived or spatially limited events may be missed.
Monthly Satellite Sea Surface Temperature Climatology of the Canadian Pacific Exclusive Economic Zone (1981-2010) – 4 km Resolution
Description:Night-time sea surface temperature (SST) was acquired from the AVHRR Pathfinder project, with data distributed by NOAA, and averaged into monthly climatological composites. The data span late 1981 through 2010 at 4 km pixel resolution. Methods:AVHRR Pathfinder version 5.3 Level 3C night Sea Surface Temperature (SST) was acquired from NOAA at 4 km spatial resolution. The monthly mean value at all pixels was calculated for individual years, then all years were combined to produce final maps of monthly mean and monthly standard deviation of SST, and the number of occurrences of valid data at each pixel over the period of observation. The quality level of all satellite observations was also acquired with this dataset, and used to remove any pixels with a quality level lower than 4. Further, pixels with fewer than two occurrences over the period 1981-2010 were removed from these maps, and set to a NaN value in the tif files. First Nation Settlement Lands - 250k (Legacy)
Notice: This layer is out of date and scheduled to be retired October 31, 2026.Yukon First Nations and Tetlit Gwich'in settlement lands including both rural blocks (R-block) and Fee Simple lands of the First Nations that have ratified their agreements. Settlement land is land identified in a first nation's final agreement as settlement land of the first nation. There are three types of settlement land that a Yukon First Nation can own and manage: Category A: complete ownership of surface and subsurface; Category B: complete ownership of the surface only; Fee Simple: private ownership. This data was built using the 1:250,000 National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) as the base and the 1:30,000 signed Territorial Research Base Maps (TRBM) to define the boundaries.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps). Local Area Plans
The boundaries are established from either Land Claims Final Agreement, Self Government Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, Local Advisory Area, or from a signed document between Yukon Government and First Nation. An Order in Council is prepared and the new boundary comes into effect. Older LAP's and Community Plans were approved by YG Minister and Cabinet as a policy document. Newer plans are approved in the same manner which also include First Nation resolution by Chief and Council Some of these contain a Future Land Use Plan or Land Use Plan with area designations.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) .
