Pest Infestation Polygons
Forest disturbances mapped primarily by the annual provincial aerial overview survey are recorded as polygons. Each polygon is labelled by the year of survey, forest health factor (disturbance agent), severity class and host. Aerial survey data standards are provided on the web at https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/managing-our-forest-resources/forest-health/aerial-overview-surveys/methods.
Pest Infestation Points
Forest disturbances mapped primarily by the annual provincial aerial overview survey are recorded as polygons or spots (point data). This data set represents the spot (point) data. Each spot is labelled by the year of survey, forest health factor (disturbance agent), severity class, area, numbers of trees estimated in the spot, and host. Aerial survey data standards are provided on the web at https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/managing-our-forest-resources/forest-health/aerial-overview-surveys/methods.

Aerial Overview Surveys 1998 - 2010
Aerial overview surveys are carried out by observers in fixed-wing aircraft flying at appropriate safe heights above ground level over the forest canopy. Surveys cover extensive areas to detect as many new FHDA-caused disturbances as possible. Surveyors record locations, extent, severity, possible causative agent and host tree species involved in the disturbances. Aerial surveys are cost-effective means of obtaining forest health damaging agent (FHDA) caused disturbance data at the landscape level. These surveys help to manage forests by providing early detection of FHDAs and once detected, by monitoring their trends. Aerial surveys are carried out to record locations, extent and severity of new, FHDA-caused disturbances. changes to known FHDA disturbances for historical and evaluation purposes. background information needed for planning management actions. and, forest health data at the forest area, regional and provincial levels for reporting and inventory update. This dataset contains data from 1975 to 2010. Data from 2011 onward is available as a separate dataset.

Forest Health Aerial Overview - 50k
This feature delineates forest health disturbances which includes Abiotic and Biotic forest health agents in the Yukon at a scale of 1:100,000. It is a management level forest health overview survey (as opposed to an operational level) - meaning that analysis and mapping are most effective close to the 1:100,000 scale and not larger. This Forest Health Overview surveys has been completed in various stages: 1 ) Starting with mapping the disturbance type, and severity from the Air using Fix wing aircraft on to hardcopy 1:100,000 scale maps ; 2 ) Transfering the Data to a clean Mylar for scanning and digitizing ; and, 3 ) Scanning and digitizing and populate data into GIS spatial database .Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) .
