Canada Basemap – Elevation (CBME)
Canada Base Map Elevation (CBME) consists of a simple light hillshade for use as a background for mapping application. The Canada Atlas Lambert (EPSG:3978) is used and only covers the extents of Canada.
The Canadian Radiological Monitoring Network – Environmental Dosimetry
This dataset provides the background radiation dose results from Health Canada’s Canadian Radiological Monitoring Network (CRMN) monitoring sites. More information about the CRMN network can be found on the Health Canada website (see link below). This background radiation data contains both “monitoring” and “transit” dosimeters starting in 2016. The historical background radiation dose data can be found on the Open Data portal. A transit dosimeter is sent along with the monitoring dosimeter to determine if there is a significant dose recorded by the dosimeter while it is in transit to the sampling station. The transit dosimeter is shipped out with a station monitor, and shipped back with the station monitor from the previous quarter. The monitoring dosimeters are deployed over a longer time (around three months) than the transit dosimeters (around 3 weeks). This difference largely explains the lower recorded dose values for the transit dosimeter. The results provided for the monitoring and transit dosimeters are expressed as ambient dose equivalent to a cesium source, in units of millisieverts (mSv). The measured dose rate is reported in mSv/day. The external dose can be attributed almost exclusively to natural radiation (of terrestrial and cosmic origin) with fluctuations based on several factors including location, soil characteristics, and seasonal changes. The map shows the approximate sampling location for each monitoring station. Stations are found within the associated location range.
Named geographic features
Data set contains geographical referencing information like: * type of feature or place * location coordinates * geographic township * municipal and map references Also contains places and background information behind their official naming like: * name status * naming date * name origin * naming history This layer used to be distributed under the name "Geographic Name Extent" but was modified to "Geographic Named Extent" in November 2011. Radioactive Boulders
This dataset shows the location of radioactive boulders for the Province of Saskatchewan. This dataset shows the location of radioactive boulders compiled from the Ministry of Energy and Resources’ assessment files for the Province of Saskatchewan. This is a work in progress and some data is currently missing. Some assessment files did not include radioactive measurements, only that the boulders are above background radiation. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution. **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule.
Site regions and districts
Site Regions and Site Districts of Ontario represent an early Ecological Land Classification (ELC) system originally developed by Angus Hills. This dataset was revised by the ELC Working Group in 2000 to better reflect new information and new technology. The Site Regions of Ontario was used for descriptive, planning, and resource management purposes. This upper level in its hierarchy was most useful for provincial and regional roll-ups of data and for strategic planning. Site Districts of Ontario is a more detailed lower (finer-scale) level of the hierarchy, and was more useful for detailed resource management prescriptions and other local and site planning applications. This layer is designed to be used as a spatial selection tool and as a background layer suitable for overlay and or intersection with numerous scales or current hydrologic data.
Shoreline Status along the Southern Georgian Bay Shoreline 2006-2008
A synthesis of available background data on the types and extent of anthropogenic disturbances on this shoreline as a well as to understand the types and amount of remaining natural shoreline features.
Historical aerial photography of Indian Residential Schools
To support a wide range of efforts to understand the geographic context and historical conditions of the Indian residential schools sites for a wide range of stakeholders, Indigenous Services Canada has created a Web service to access and visualize historical aerial photography for those sites. The Historical aerial photography of Indian residential schools dataset contains digital scans of aerial photographs that were acquired from 1924 to 1998 over Indian Residential school sites and surrounding areas across Canada, as well as basic information about each photography and depicted site. The digital images were georeferenced, to match ground coordinates, saved in a resampled uncompressed raster format and compiled in a single mosaic layer. The dataset does not include the complete range of aerial photographs of each site. Instead, an attempt has been made to select a single optimal photograph for each site based on good photographic quality and the site's years of operation. In some cases no photograph is available, and in others a photograph was only available after the years of operation. The source scanned prints was obtained from the archives of the National Air Photo Library (NAPL) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN). This dataset should be considered evergreen as new information and photography sources are identified. It should be noted that this dataset can only be downloaded using ArcGIS and ArcPro software as well as other GIS software.
Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Retaining Wall
A Retaining Wall is a structure designed to protect the road infrastructure by retaining materials on the fill side to prevent road bed slips and by retaining materials on the cut side to prevent the road surface from being covered by debris. Retaining walls that are greater than or equal to 2m in height are stored in the MoT Bridge Structure Road dataset. It is a Linear feature
Automatically Extracted Buildings
“Automatically Extracted Buildings” is a raw digital product in vector format created by NRCan. The feature classes of this product delineate polygonal building footprints automatically extracted from airborne Lidar data, high-resolution optical imagery or other sources. The first feature class, Automatically Extracted Buildings by acquisition source, contains building footprints delivered according to the spatial extent of each source dataset used for extraction. When the spatial extents of acquisition sources overlap, footprints for the same building may therefore be duplicated in this class. The second feature class, Optimized Buildings Layer, is an assembled and harmonized layer derived from the buildings by acquisition source. Its objective is to provide a unique representation of each building footprint by removing duplicates and resolving overlaps between sources.
