A mineral restriction is in place to limit and define mineral exploration and development within the Alberta government's mandate to protect natural or historical sites and to manage mineral resources. Examples of mineral restrictions include Bird Sanctuary, Provincial Park, and Coal Mine Licence Area. Restriction types with different levels of surface access are the result of government policy and all are mineral or substance specific.

This dataset contains Lake Ontario prey fish abundance and distribution statistics, collected every year during spring and fall bottom trawl surveys. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Geological Survey have conducted annual, spring and fall bottom trawl surveys in U.S. waters of Lake Ontario since 1978. In 2015, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry started contributing to this program to include survey coverage in Ontario waters. The ministry also intermittently conducts mid-water trawling during the summer months on a limited geographic area largely confined to the Eastern Basin. The survey has varied sample distribution across lake depths and jurisdictions. The south shore of Lake Ontario has well-distributed coverage of depths between 8 and 200 metres. Coverage along the north shore is less uniform due to a lack of suitable trawl sites at shallower depths.

The intention is to show the boundaries of all refuges in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001) under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Refuge types include Wildlife Refuge, Game Bird Refuge, Goose Refuge, and Fur Bearing Animal Refuge. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines what activities are prohibited within each refuge.Boundaries are drawn based on the physical description described in regulation, or imported using CAD files from the official Director of Surveys Plan stated in regulation.

The Canadian Breeding Bird Census (BBC) Database contains data for 928 breeding bird plot censuses representing all known censuses of breeding birds carried out in Canada during the period 1929–1993. The 928 records in the database represent 640 unique census plots located in all provinces and territories, except Prince Edward Island. The BBC, which was replaced by the current Breeding Bird Survey, is one of the longest-running surveys of bird populations in North America, and was designed to help determine abundance and distribution patterns of bird species. An important feature of the BBC Database is the habitat data associated with each census plot. The most prevalent vegetation species in different layers (canopy, shrub and ground cover) were recorded to reflect the assumption that birds respond principally to vegetative structure.
