The locations of coastal British Columbia overnight campsites and campgrounds. The Coastal BC datasets are circa 2004 and legacy in nature. Caution should be exercised when using this data, as it may not be accurate or complete. There are currently no plans to update.

This dataset identifies locations of wilderness and recreation tourism activities. Activities are: fishing, biking, hiking, snowmobiling, rafting, boating, flight seeing, dog mushing, driving tour, off-road vehicle, cross country skiing, canoeing, wildlife viewing. The locations were collected through interviews. Locations and areas were indicated on paper maps and transferred to digital. This is not a complete or up to date dataset. The intention is to show the boundaries of all refuges in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001) under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Refuge types include Wildlife Refuge, Game Bird Refuge, Goose Refuge, and Fur Bearing Animal Refuge. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines what activities are prohibited within each refuge.Boundaries are drawn based on the physical description described in regulation, or imported using CAD files from the official Director of Surveys Plan stated in regulation.

This dataset is used is used to determine the significance or status of wetland classes and certain other natural heritage features. It is also used to set targets for Wilderness Class Provincial parks, State of the Forest reporting and to study natural disturbance regimes.

This dataset provides locations of highway maintenance camps. The Public Lands Camping Pass does not apply in the Kananaskis Conservation Pass area. The pass does not apply to: private, municipal, or federally owned lands. Provincial Parks, Wildland Provincial Parks, Provincial Recreation Areas. Wilderness Areas, Ecological Reserves, Heritage Rangelands, Natural Areas. All acts and regulations will continue to apply including the Recreation Access Regulation that applies to agricultural dispositions. The boundary represents the external boundary of the pass area.

The Okanagan Lake kokanee shore spawner data set is comprised of multiple combined data sets. The historical data sets for the years 1974, 77, 78, 79 and 80 and more recent data sets collected from 2001 to 2016, and 2018. The historical data was derived from information collected in the field and hand drawn onto air photographs. Ministry staff circled Okanagan Lake in a boat one time each year and recorded fish numbers and spawner locations onto air photographs that were digitized in 2006 to make up the historical data set. This data set may not capture the peak reach count for these years. The data collected from 2001 to 2018 was derived from boat counts undertaken along the shoreline of Okanagan, Wood and Kalamalka Lakes. A GPS was used to record shore spawner locations and numbers. Multiple counts were undertaken over the entire spawning cycle and covered the peak spawning period for each year of data provided. The data collected for Christina Lake began in 2003 and ended in 2006. Christina Lake kokanee spawn at night in late December and early January. Kokanee spawning redd locations are available for the 2003/2004 count. Kokanee enumerations were undertaken at night for the 2004/2005 and 2005/2006 seasons and spawning redds were counted at the end of spawning cycle. For these two years there is both spawning and redd count data available.

This feature class identifies active areas designated for personal use woodcutting where harvesting dead or downed fuelwood can occur for purposes such as home heating. Certain areas have seasonal restrictions or additional terms and conditions. A forest resources permit is required to cut in these areas; this free permit authorizes a limit of 25m 3 (11 cords) of firewood. Wetlands are lands that are seasonally or permanently flooded by shallow water. They also include lands where the water table is close to the surface. The wetland polygons are managed independently from other hydro data classes and may overlap water bodies or other hydro data. Not all wetlands have been identified and mapped. Active maintenance is ongoing province wide. The currency and accuracy of the spatial representation is variable and requires on-the-ground verification.
