The Prairie Soil Zones file shows the general distribution of major soil zones across the Prairie region of Canada. Soil zones (based on the Canadian System of Soil Classification) are named based on the dominant soil classification of the soils in each zone. Data extent is limited to the Agricultural Zone as defined in Soil Landscapes of Canada v 3.0 (Lefebvre et al. 2005).

The Fire Control Zone dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Fire Control Zones in Alberta. Fire Control Zone is legislated to show geographical areas established for the purposes of closure orders and fire control orders under the Alberta Forest and Prairie Protection Act.

During a declared emergency event, this file represents an aggregated dataset that shows all of the active Orders and Alerts in the Province as initiated by the Local Governments or First Nations. When an Order or Alert is rescinded, its status changes to All Clear. The polygon is removed from this layer and copied to the [Historical Orders and Alerts dataset](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/historical-orders-and-alerts).

The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.

Historic placer mining areas in Yukon can be grouped into ten areas: Klondike; Sixtymile; Fortymile; Clear Creek; Moosehorn Range; Stewart River; Whitehorse South; Mayo; Dawson Range and Livingstone Creek. Each area has its own geomorphic setting and depositional history which is related to its glacial history. This file represents an aggregated dataset that shows previously active Orders and Alerts in the Province as initiated by Local Governments or First Nations. Start dates, re-installment dates and All Clear Dates for each Evacuation Order and Alert are included in this multipart polygon dataset. The dataset includes records beginning summer 2017 until the present day. In 2021, the Canada Coast Guard (CCG) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) updated its administrative boundaries following the creation a new Arctic region.There are now 7 administrative regions in DFO (Pacific, Arctic, Ontario and Prairie, Quebec, Gulf, Maritimes, Newfoundland and Labrador). DFO and Coast Guard Arctic Regions developed these regions in partnership with the people they serve; this important decision will lead to stronger programs and services to better meet the unique needs of our Arctic communities.DFO and CCG operations and research cover Canada's land and waters to the international boundaries (EEZ) and are in no way limited to the boundaries drawn in the map.
