Traffic flow
Linear network representing the estimated traffic flows for roads and highways managed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD). These flows are obtained using a statistical estimation method applied to data from more than 4,500 collection sites spread over the main roads of Quebec. It includes DJMA (annual average daily flow), DJME (summer average daily flow), DJME (summer average daily flow (June, July, August, September) and DJMH (average daily winter flow (December, January, February, March) as well as other traffic data. It is important to note that these values are calculated for total traffic directions.Interactive map: Some files are accessible by querying an à la carte traffic section with a click (the file links are displayed in the descriptive table that is displayed upon click):• Historical aggregate data (PDF)• Annual reports for permanent sites (PDF and Excel)• Hourly data (hourly average per weekday per month) (Excel)**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**

Commercial vehicle flows by road network
Data collected between 2005 to 2007, 3% of sample collected in 2005, 51% in 2006 and 46% in 2007. This dataset contains a compilation of data collected from different sources. **VOG 06/** **VOG** **08 (Value of Goods)** : The data is derived from the information collected in the 2006 Ontario Commercial Vehicle Survey. This survey is a roadside intercept survey of truck drivers, which collects information about the trip, commodity and the vehicle. The survey primarily captures intercity trucking activity and under-represents truck flows in urban areas. The value of goods provided in this table is derived from the Commercial Vehicle Survey, but factored up to represent the overall trucking activity on the network segment for 2006 and 2008. **AADTT 2006 and ****AADTT** **2008:** The data is derived from the Ministry of Transportation's (MTO) inventory of annual traffic data for the Provincial Highways. The commercial volumes are first calculated using the AADT and the Commercial Percentage values for each traffic segment. These values are then adjusted to remove variations between segments caused by fluctuations in AADT. The volume given for each direction is one-half of the total value. MTO does not maintain volume by direction. For freeway segments with core/collector configuration, the total volume is divided into four equal portions and assigned to each stream. **Hourly Truck Volumes ( WD00-23 and WN00-23): ** These fields contain estimates of average hourly volumes for a typical weekday and weekend day. The estimates are based on observed hourly distribution at more than 100 directional Commercial Vehicle Survey sites across the province, **AADTT** and other information. **RD _NAME:** Name of the road **VOG** **06:** 2006 average daily value of goods assigned to road network link by directions. **VOG** **08:** 2008 average daily value of goods assigned to road network link by directions. **AADTT** **2006:** 2006 Annual Average Daily Truck Traffic; it is the truck volume assigned to road network link by directions. **AADTT** **2008:** 2008 Annual Average Daily Truck Traffic; it is the truck volume assigned to road network link by directions. **WD** **00-23:** 2008 Weekday ( **WD** ) hourly truck volume; 00 - 23 represents starting hour of the day (e.g. 12 represents 12 P.M. - 1 P.M.). **WN** **00-23:** 2008 Weekend ( **WN** ) hourly truck volume; 00 - 23 represents starting hour of the day (e.g. 12 represents 12 P.M. - 1 P.M.). *[ WD]: Week day *[VOG]: Value of Goods *[AADTT]: Annual Average Daily Truck Traffic *[WN]: Week end *[RD]: Road *[WD]: Week day *[MTO]: Ministry of Transportation *[AADT]: Annual Average Daily Traffic
North America Surface Water Values
The North America Surface Water Values point dataset contains the current water level and stream flow values as recorded by Canadian and USA hydrometric gauging station locations. Daily values are recorded as well as comparisons with historical measurements, including difference in values from the previous day, the mean level for that calendar date, the annual mean water level, and maximum and minumum recorded levels. Percentile values based on historical average for both water level and stream flow are also included.Real-time gauging station data for Canada is available here: https://wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/search/statistics_e.htmlReal-time gauging station data for the United States is available here: https://waterservices.usgs.gov/rest/Statistics-Service.html
Turkey Lakes Watershed - Stream Water Flow
This dataset contains annual mean stream water flow/discharge data derived from daily means for headwater streams draining forested hillslopes measured at stream catchments C31, C32, C33, C34, C35, C37, C38, C39, C42, C46, C47, C49, and C50 in the Turkey Lakes Watershed, approximately 60 km northwest of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. This data set is recorded as annual mean flow by calendar year (January-December in litres per second), annual mean flow by water year (October to September in litres per second), and annual number of zero flow days by water year. Daily mean flows that were used to derive this data set were recorded from 1981-2012 by the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, and are reported for 1981-2011 due to some inaccuracies throughout the 2012 data. Hydrological gauging stations employ "flow-control" 120 degree V-notch weirs (catchments 31, 33, 34, 37, 39, 42, 46, and 47), 90 degree V-notch weirs (catchments 32, 35, and 49), and 60 degrees V-notch weirs (catchment 38) to facilitate monitoring of stream discharge. Water "stage" or depth within the structure (e.g. in the pool behind the weir notch) is automatically and continuously recorded by chart recorders (Leupold & Stevens A-71 SE Water Level Recorder) from 1981-2003. Capacitance rods (Trutrack WT-HR 1000) installed in stilling wells replaced the chart recorders over the period of 2002 to 2003 and were used until 2012. The capacitance rods logged data at 1 hour intervals for the majority of their use and then averaged to a daily rate. Manual stage measurements have been taken intermittently when synoptic water chemistry samples were taken throughout the years. Stage data are then converted to a continuous record of flow using the relationship between stage and discharge measurements.
Average annual runoff in Canada, 1971 to 2013
This product provides runoff data with each contour line corresponding to an average amount of annual runoff (in millimeters). Runoff data were derived from discharge values from hydrometric stations with natural flows. Not all years are included for every region of the country due to data quality and availability issues. Data cover the period 1971 to 2013 for the south and 1971 to 2004 for the north. These files were produced by Statistics Canada, Environment, Energy and Transportation Statistics Division, 2017, based on data from Environment and Climate Change Canada, 2015, Water Survey of Canada, Archived Hydrometric Data (HYDAT), www.ec.gc.ca/rhc- wsc/default.asp?lang=En&n=4EED50F1-1 (accessed December 3, 2015); Spence, C. and A. Burke, 2008, “Estimates of Canadian Arctic Archipelago runoff from observed hydrometric data,” Journal of Hydrology, Vol. 362, pp. 247–259. For more information about methods, results and limitations see Appendix D in Statistics Canada, 2017, “Freshwater in Canada,” Human Activity and the Environment,Catalogue no. 16-201-X.The purpose of the dataset is to present runoff values as derived from Statistics Canada's Water Yield Model on a national scale map of 1:32,000,000.This product is intended to be used for reference or mapping purposes. The product ends at the shoreline of Canada as defined by the drainage region boundaries supplied for drainage regions of Canada. It does not include the Arctic Islands.
Forecasted Basin-Average Accumulated Precipitation (ECMWF - 7 Days)
This polygon layer displays sub-basin-level average precipitation derived from the ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) model. This layer helps hydrologists, forecasters, and planners see how much rainfall/snowfall is predicted or has occurred in each sub-basin, supporting medium-range water resource and flood management. We are intersested in the forecast period of 7 days. This layer aggregates ECMWF forecast precipitation over polygonal sub-basins. Each feature includes attributes for average accumulated precipitation, forecast run/valid times, and sub-basin identifiers. ECMWF is a leading global model offering medium-range (up to 10 days) forecasts at a high skill level. By focusing on sub-basins, this layer aids in local-scale decision-making—enabling more precise flood risk assessments, reservoir inflow estimates, and water resource planning across the region of interest.
