Geochronology
Geochronology is a discipline of geoscience which measures the age of earth materials and provides the temporal framework in which other geoscience data can be interpreted in the context of Earth history. This knowledge helps to answer questions such as when did a volcano last erupt, what is the rate of crustal uplift in a specific area, are rocks at one gold prospect the same age as those at another.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Bedrock Geology
British Columbia Digital Geology is the data source used for the seamless province-wide, up-to-date, and detailed bedrock geology. The bedrock geology is standardized with consistent stratigraphic code and geometries, and integrates all details of compilations from 1:50,000 to 1:250,000. The latest release (Open File 2017-8) is maintained by a geospatial frame data model, which consists of attributed geological contacts and faults as linework, and outcrops or centroids as points attributed with bedrock information. Techniques are used to simplify the integration process and shorten the timeframe from field mapping, compilation, integration, to data delivery. The release also contains: tables for geological units and colours; ESRI layer files containing bedrock colour symbols; and a map of British Columbia illustrating the suggested colour theme for the bedrock polygons. Related data sets are Geology Faults and Quaternary Alluvium and Cover. Bedrock Geology is interactive with other geoscience data on MapPlace and MapPlace 2 and is available for download in shapefile format.
Digital Surficial Geological Data of the Halifax Metropolitan and Surrounding Areas, NS
This digital product is a compilation of surficial geological data of the Halifax Metropolitan area which was defined by Dan Utting using a LiDAR derived bare-earth hillshade model. The LiDAR data was collected by PHB Lasermap, and provided by Halifax Regional Municipality. The data was used to create Open File Maps OFM ME 2011-001 to 2011-012, compiled by D. J. Utting, 2011. The digital product was created by Geoscience and Mines Branch staff at the Department of Energy and Mines. The digital product contains layers for geological features such as: age dates, drumlins, eskers, geological contacts, surficial geologic units, ice movement, moraines, meltwater, neatline, station locations, and large aggregate quarries.
Nova Scotia Mineral Occurrence Database
This data set is the ArcInfo version of the Nova Scotia Mineral Occurrence Database. The data set was compiled by the Geoscience and Mines Branch of the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables. This digital product was developed from the databases contained in Digital Product DP ME 1b. DP ME 2 contains a series of attribute tables that contain information about the various mineral occurrences present in the province of Nova Scotia. It includes information such as: types of alteration, sample analyses information, mineral commodities, coordinates, element and mineral type, mode of mineralization, NTS mapsheet information, element sampling information, stratigraphic units, types of surveys carried out and work done on the occurrence.
Sedimentary Extents - 1M

Canada Image Composite (2022)
High-resolution false-color Landsat image composite of Canada's forested ecosystems (2022). This national image product represents the Composite to Change (C2C) proxy composite image derived from thousands of Landsat images acquired between July 1 and August 30, 2022. It is developed within the framework of Canada’s National Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring System (NTEMS). The overall process followed is described in (Hermosilla et al. 2016 ) with details on the generation of gap-free surface reflectance composites in ( Hermosilla et al. 2015). Following the motivation and rationale presented in White et al. (White et al. 2014), Landsat imagery is subjected to a series of processing steps to remove clouds and shadows as well as haze and other unwanted atmospheric effects. Year-on-year time series of Landsat imagery are interrogated to avoid missing values, and to ensure exhaustive spatial coverage of the national surface reflectance composites. False-colour 3-channel image (bands: shortwave infrared, SWIR1; near infrared; red)When using these data, please cite as: Hermosilla, T., M.A. Wulder, J.C. White, N.C. Coops, G.W. Hobart, L.B. Ground Surveys
This dataset represents the digital compilation of the Mineral Assessment Ground surveys of the Province of Saskatchewan. This dataset represents the digital compilation of the Mineral Assessment Ground surveys of the Province of Saskatchewan. This data shows Mineral Assessment Work Catalogue: Outlines of areas and descriptions of work submitted for mineral assessment credits (Ground surveys). This is an ongoing assemblage of mineral assessment ground surveys. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution. **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule.
