This new data class brings over data from the Waste Management Information System (WMIS), which is a Microsoft Access based database used by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to track Waste Management Sites. This was married with the spatial data from Waste Disposal Sites where possible Different Waste Disposal Site types collected by the Ministry of Natural Resources include: * Compost Disposal * Hazardous Waste Disposal * Household Waste Disposal * Industrial Waste Disposal * Septic Drying Bed * Septic Field * Sewage Disposal * Tile Bed * Transfer Station This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

Active Disposal at Sea Sites
Canada has the longest coastline in the world, measuring 243,790 kilometers. Many of our waterways along the coastline have to be dredged regularly to keep shipping channels and harbours open and safe for navigation; and this material is sometimes best disposed of at sea. Schedule 5 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA) defines an exclusive list of materials and substances suitable for disposal at sea in Canada, which is in accordance with the London Protocol (1996). They are: dredged material, fish waste resulting from industrial fish processing operations, ships or platforms, inert and inorganic geological matter, uncontaminated organic matter of natural origin, and bulky substances. The disposal of any substance into the sea, on the seabed, in the subsoil of the seabed, or onto ice, from a ship, an aircraft, a platform or other structure is not allowed unless a permit is issued by the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Disposal at Sea Program. Incineration at sea, as well as importing or exporting a substance for disposal at sea is also prohibited. More information on Disposal at Sea is available at: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/disposal-at-sea.html The Active Disposal at Sea Sites in Canadian Waters dataset provides spatial and related information of at-sea disposal sites approved for use in Canada in the last ten years. Any additional use of a disposal site must be conducted in accordance with the terms and conditions of a valid Disposal at Sea permit. The dataset may be of use in relation to Disposal at Sea permit applications. For some Disposal at Sea permit applications the data may be of use in assessing serious harm to fish under the Fisheries Act and assessing interference with navigation under the Navigation Protection Act.
National Inventory of Orphaned and Abandoned Mines
This database aggregates basic information on orphaned and abandoned mine sites from participating Canadian jurisdictions, including their name, location, jurisdiciton, and the commodity that was mined. It was originally created in 2012 through the National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Initiative and has undergone several updates since that time. Data on sites in each jurisdiction is owned and maintained by that jurisdiction. The database includes links to the corresponding records in that jursidiction. While the database includes common informaiton about all sites, there may be discrepancies in the types of data provided about sites in different jurisdictions and data from some jurisdictions may be updated more frequently than others.

Bacteriological monitoring of the river - Potential bathing sites
This theme presents the index of water health along the banks of the St. Lawrence River. It makes it possible to determine if the sites present risks to human health and if they are suitable for swimming.These data are the result of an exploratory monitoring program that aims to raise awareness among the population and local actors about the possible reopening of bathing sites that have good potential. CWD/Bovine TB Drop-Off Sites and Carcass Disposal Locations
To help wildlife managers obtain information about CWD prevalence in the province, hunters are asked to drop off heads from deer, elk, moose, and caribou for CWD testing at the following locations (see map below). PLEASE NOTE: Each self-serve drop-off site contains a kiosk and a chest freezer. Freezer space at high-traffic drop-off locations may be limited early in the hunting season when temperatures are not consistently below -10C and therefore do not allow for heads to be submitted within the kiosk. Prior to dropping off large elk and moose heads at these busy sites, please call ahead to the phone number associated with each kiosk to ensure there is adequate freezer space to allow for drop-off.
