Geographic Place Names Poly - 50k - Canvec
Toponymic Features entity is Named Feature (geographical name or toponym). CanVec is a digital cartographic reference product of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). It originates from the best available data sources covering Canadian territory, offers quality topographical information in vector format, and complies with international geomatics standards. CanVec is a multi-source product coming mainly from the National Topographic Data Base (NTDB), the Mapping the North process conducted by the Canada Center for Mapping and Earth Observation (CCMEO), the Atlas of Canada data, the GeoBase initiative, and the data update using satellite imagery coverage (e.g. Landsat 7, Spot, Radarsat, etc.).Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Game Management Areas - 250k
Game Management Areas (GMAs) are legal boundaries that define an area within which big game management objectives can be met through the setting of area-specific regulations. In other words, GMAs are used to manage Yukon wildlife species. GMAs are a combination of Game Management Zone (GMZ or Zone) and Game Management Subzone (GMS or Subzone). There are 443 GMAs in the Yukon which are grouped together into 11 Zones. In general, Zone boundaries follow highway centre lines and Subzone boundaries follow creeks and rivers. In effect, GMAs delineate mountain blocks, which reflects their original use as sheep management units. Despite this original intent, GMAs are now used to manage all species of Yukon wildlife. With the exception of National Parks, the entire Yukon is covered by GMAs. This data was built using the 1:250,000 National Topographic Data Base (NTDB) as the digitizing base.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Passamaquoddy marine resource pilot study - 1982 Fisheries
This data record contains a digitized map reproduced from the original Passamaquoddy Marine Resource Pilot Study - 1982 Fisheries. The original map was produced by the Maritime Resource Management Service, using its GEO-BASED SYSTEM: an automated geographic information system used to create data bases and to manipulate and plot information for numerous natural resource applications. The original map is a product of the GEO-BASED SYSTEM and a conventional phot mechanical process. The fisheries information was extracted from a marine data base gathered by A.C.R.I.C. on behalf of the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Parks Canada adn the New Brunswick Department of Fisheries, encompassing the Passamaquoddy region of the Bay of Fundy.Cite this data as: Maritime Resource Management Service 1982. BEC Map
The current and most detailed version of the approved corporate provincial digital Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) Zone/Subzone/Variant/Phase map (version 13.1, July 8 2026). Use this version when performing GIS analysis regardless of scale. This mapping is deliberately extended across the ocean, lakes, glaciers, etc to facilitate intersection with a terrestrial landcover layer of your choice
Pelagic Shark Satellite Tag data - Mako Shark
The mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus), is a species found in Atlantic Canadian waters which is encountered in commercial and recreational fisheries. Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSAT) from Wildlife Computers were applied to mako sharks from 2011 to 2013 to collect data on depth (pressure), temperature and ambient light level (for position estimation). Deployments were conducted in Canada on commercial vessels, typically in summer and fall from July to October. Two types of tag models were deployed: Mk10 (N=28), and MiniPAT (N=9) and 28 of 37 tags reported (one female shark was recaptured). The mako sharks tagged ranged in size from 80 cm to 229 cm Fork Length (curved); 13 were female, 17 were male, and 7 were unknown sex. Time at liberty ranged from 0 – 185 days and 6 tags remained on for the programmed duration. Raw data transmitted from the PSAT’s after release was processed through Wildlife Computers software (GPE3) to get summary files, assuming a maximum swimming speed of 2m/s, NOAA OI SST V2 High Resolution data set for SST reference and ETOPO1-Bedrock dataset for bathymetry reference. The maximum likelihood position estimates are available in .csv and .kmz format and depth and temperature profiles are also in .csv format. Other tag outputs as well as metadata from the deployments can be obtained upon request from: warren.joyce@dfo-mpo.gc.ca or heather.bowlby@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.

An ecological sketch of some Fundy fisheries
This data record contains four digitized maps recreated from an original report entitled An Ecological Sketch of Some Fundy Fisheries published by the Conservation Council of New Brunswick. The selected maps summaries information obtained from active and retired fishermen, combined with a survey of the scientific and historical information. They illustrate knowledge on spawning, migration, and nursery grounds for herring and other fisheries for Grand Manan, Bay of Fundy, and Gulf of Maine.Cite this data as: Coon, D. 1999.
