The Forest Protection Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the administrative areas established by Forest Protection, Forestry Division of Alberta Agriculture and Forestry concerned with the prevention and control of damage to forests from fire, insects, disease and other harmful agents.

Crown Conservation Easements in Saskatchewan administered by Fish, Wildlife & Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.This dataset represents all Crown Conservation Easements registered with the Ministry of Environment. Section 11.4 of the Conservation Easements Act gives specific directions with respect to interests on title and registration of a CCE. To be in effect a copy of an executed CCE must be provided to the Ministry. Receipt of this document is recorded in this Fish, Wildlife and Lands Branch database and an Agreement number is assigned sequentially. An interest, based on the CCE, must also be registered with Information Services Corporation (ISC). Currently these two datasets are not reconciled. Technical Details: Crown Conservation Easements are meant to protect wildlife habitat and ecological values on private titled lands in the Province. Crown Conservation Easements are registered as a condition of sale, on all Crown Wildlife Habitat Protection Act lands that are assessed as having Moderate ecological values. A CCE is registered to a numbered parcel. It is this parcel identification that is reflected in this spatial dataset. The Agreement Number is included which identifies the filing number under which detailed information can be found in digital and hardcopy within the Fish, Wildlife & Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.

Tree-related tables, on the other hand, focus on measured tree attributes, including biophysical and growth parameters (e.g., DBH, height, crown class), species, status, stem conditions (e.g., broken or dead tops), and health conditions. While most contributors provided large and small tree plot measurements, only NFI, AB, MB, and SK contributed datasets reported at regeneration plot level (e.g., stem count, regeneration species). Future versions are expected to include updated and/or new measurement records as well as additional tables and measured and compiled (e.g., tree volume and biomass) attributes. This data collection contains various historical features within Alberta related to the Dominion Forestry Branch (DFB), and the early days of the Alberta Forest Service (AFS). The data collection consists of the following: Historical Forest Reserve Boundaries (1900 to 1930). Timber Berth boundaries (1910 to 1923). Early Ground and Aerial Fire Patrol Routes. Air Stations (1920s). Locations of DFB Forest Surveys (1910 to 1915). AFS Forest and District Boundaries (circa 1938). These datasets provide approximate locations of the features they represent and are intended for use in medium to small-scale mapping. No spatial accuracy tests were conducted on any of the data. Features derived from land locations tied in the Alberta Township System (ATS) are likely to be accurate providing there were no errors in transcribing the locations. However features digitized from old maps will have poor spatial accuracy ranging from several kilometres to a few hundred metres, depending on the map scale, map projection, and the accuracy of the features on the source map.

Ontario's Crown forest is divided into geographic planning areas, known as forest management units. Most of these units are managed by individual forest companies under a Sustainable Forest License. A forest management unit is identified by an assigned official name (e.g., Black Spruce Forest) and a unique numeric code. Before any forestry activities can take place in a management unit, there must be an approved forest management plan in place for each management unit.
