An abiotic damage event is a non-biological event -- such as wind or an ice storm -- that has damaged areas of forested land. Abiotic damage event information is mainly used to: * generate summary maps for these events at a general or provincial scale * monitor the extent of damage for forest fire prevention purposes * calculate gross timber volume loss estimates caused by these events This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

The Base Hydrography Point Event layer contains hydrographic point features representing the locations of water or water related features captured through the 1:20000 Provincial Base Mapping Project, the 1:50000 Resource Access Mapping Program, the Alberta Vegetation Inventory Program and the Federal Government National Topographic Data Base 1:50000 mapping.

During a declared emergency event, this dataset will include the facilities that provide Emergency Social Service assistance.

Miscellaneous events are often the result of the cumulative impact of a combination of abiotic, insect and disease agents or events. For example, Aspen decline where repeated infestations of Forest Tent Caterpillar, are combined with several seasons of prolonged drought. The Government of Ontario tracks forest damage events to help proactively manage the detrimental effects to our forests.   We monitor the threat and spread of invasive forest pest insect species in Ontario. The data is also important to the Forest Management Planning process in calculating timber volume loss within affected areas. DEPRECATED: During a declared emergency event, this dataset will include the communities affected by Evacuation Order Orders and Alerts, which represents the populated communities and First Nations in the province, and their current evacuation status.

Most of these events involved community evacuations, significant structural loss and/or involvement of a Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Emergency Response Officer. Events include those assigned to MNR by an Order-In-Council under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act as well as events where MNR provided requested emergency response assistance. These events fall into one of ten type categories: * dam failure * drought /low water * erosion * flood * forest fire * soil and bedrock instability * Petroleum Resource Center event * EMO requested assistance * continuity of operations event * other requested assistance This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

Representation of the causes of flooding events in the form of multiple points. The point groupings correspond to the set of locations that were affected by the same event. The inventory of past flooding events was compiled from various public sources and standardized into a common data model. Sources used are included in the data. Event locations have been extensively revised to have one location per location reported as affected by the flood. Flood events for which no location was included in the sources used are positioned on the place name of the location affected by the flood. The event positions do not indicate where the flooding occurred. Flood events that affected more than one locality are represented by a multipoint.For each event after January 1, 1980 caused by a heavy rainfall or a coastal storm , a precipitation analysis document, a precipitation animation and the precipitation data are available. These documents are the result of a collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada.Disclaimer:It should be noted that no consultation was conducted with the various providers and stakeholders of the historic flood data. During a declared emergency event, this file represents an aggregated dataset that shows all of the active Orders and Alerts in the Province as initiated by the Local Governments or First Nations. When an Order or Alert is rescinded, its status changes to All Clear.
