Mineral Deposits Index
This data set represents the digital information on all known mineral occurrences in the Province of Saskatchewan.This data shows information on all known mineral occurrences in Saskatchewan. Additional occurrences are added as new public domain geoscience information is analyzed. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution. Current definitions for the mineral deposit categories used in the Saskatchewan Mineral Deposit Index can be found by searching “Mineral Deposit Category Definition Tables” on the Publications Saskatchewan website. Prospectivity model for clastic-dominated zinc deposits
Prospectivity model highlights areas of Canada with the greatest potential for clastic-dominated zinc deposits. The preferred prospectivity model is based on public geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets that were spatially indexed using the H3 discrete global grid system. Each H3 cell is associated with a prospectivity value, or class probability, calculated from the best-performing gradient boosting machines model. Model results are filtered to include the top 20% of prospectivity values for visualization purposes.

Know concentration areas of the Softshell clam in the intertidal zone of the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence
The dataset represents known concentration areas of harvested or unharvested Softshell clam (Mya arenaria) in the intertidal zone of the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Quebec region. The dataset was created for the National environmental emergencies centre (NEEC) for preparation and response in case of an oil spill. Concentration areas were defined using Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) inventories conducted between 2000 and 2020.This layer is dependent on the inventories carried out and thus only represents known clam areas. For example, for the Haute-Côte-Nord, inventories have been limited to areas open to harvesting (with the exception of 4 sectors), but it is known that the Softshell clam is also present outside these areas. In addition, little information was available for the Moyenne and Basse-Côte-Nord.This data layer does not represent the general distribution of the species nor the extent to which fishing is allowed. The extent of shellfish beds may vary over time in response to, among others harvesting and the recruitment rates. The boundaries of polygons from inventory data may be underestimated relative to the actual size of the deposit since the inventories were conducted at the location where the resource is most abundant, without necessarily sampling the entire bed. However, the accuracy is sufficient for the protection and management needs of the resource in the event of an environmental incident. Data sources and references:Brulotte, S. 2011. Catchment basin analysis and weighted sums modeling: enhanced interpretation of RGS data using examples from map sheets 105M, 105O, and part of 105P
Yukon Geological Survey re-analyzed stream sediment sample pulps from GSC's archives in Ottawa. As a next step to improving the dataset, two of the areas covered by the recently-released Open Files were selected for further data processing to add value to the raw data. Catchment areas were delineated for each sample, and data were modeled to isolate the geochemical signatures that are characteristic of the known mineral deposit types in the area. This report and the accompanying series of maps present the results of this ?value-added? analysis of raw stream sediment geochemical data. The project was funded by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) through their Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development program.
