Geoscientific
GEO - Geological and geophysical (geoscientificInformation)The earth sciences. For example, resources describing geophysical features and processes; minerals; the composition, structure, and origin of the earths rocks; earthquakes; volcanic activity; landslides; gravity information; soils; permafrost; hydrogeology; and erosion
Notice of Work (NoW) Spatial Locations - Public
The dataset represents applications for a mining permit. This point dataset is for "regional mines”. Notice of Work (NoW) is the name of the application. Mining activities with disturbance to the ground need approval. Section 10 of the Mines Act issues the authorization or permit. **NOTE**: Administrative amendments to a NoW are not captured in this dataset. We are currently working to include this addition for a more complete view of the data. For proponents, please log into https://minespace.gov.bc.ca/ to confirm any authorizations on your permits. Polygon representation of this dataset can be found here: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/c728435d-410e-42f9-81d5-95978c90e44a Point locations within this dataset may be: - Approved and permitted NoW applications The application status field identifies the status of the application. Examples include approved, withdrawn, or rejected, to name a few. Clients submit location information with their application. During review and consultation phases of the application, the permitting inspector may adjust the proposed location. Otherwise, this dataset displays the information submitted by the client. Regional mines include: - Exploration — mineral, coal, rock quarry, industrial mineral or dimension stone - Sand and gravel — aggregate, rock or natural substances used for construction purposes - Placer Part 9.1.1 and 10.1.1 of the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia describe the requirements. Clients submit location information with their application. This dataset displays the information submitted by the client. Notice of work categories include type and application status: Type - Coal - Mineral - Placer Operations - Quarry – Construction Aggregate - Quarry – Industrial Mineral - Sand and Gravel Application Status - Approved - Client Delayed - Permit Closed - Pending Approval - Government Action Required - Referred - Rejected - Received - Rejected-Initial - No Permit Required - Referral Complete - Withdrawn For the public view, please be aware that the ministry has removed: - All points with now application status of pending verification. - The attributes of all non-open permits - All non-gold and non-jade/nephrite mine commodities
TANTALIS - Wildlife Management Areas
TA_WILDLIFE_MGMT_AREAS_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of the areas under the administration and control of the Conservation Lands Program of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development and designated as Wildlife Management Areas under the Wildlife Act due to the significance of their wildlife/fish values. The view was created to provide a simplified view of this data from the administrative boundaries information in the Tantalis operational system
TANTALIS - Crown Land Inclusions
TA_CROWN_INCLUSIONS_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of active and applied for Crown Land Inclusions. Inclusions are a mechanism by which an interest holder can extend for inclusion their holdings based on statutory provisions within the Land and Land Title Acts. The view was created to provide a simplified presentation of this single tenure type from the disposition information in the Tantalis operational system. The same content could be derived from the TA_CROWN_TENURES_SVW by filtering to this tenure type only
Bioterrain Mapping (TBT) Detailed Polygons with Short Attribute Table Spatial View
Bioterrain (TBT) contains polygons with key and amalgamated (concatenated) attributes derived from the RISC (Resource Inventory Standards Committee) standard attributes. TBT divides the landscape into units using the Terrain Classification System for British Columbia and ecological criteria. Polygon attributes include (but are not limited to) surficial material, surface expression, geomorphological processes, drainage class and aspect. TBT methods include manual air photo interpretation supported by selective field checking. Bioterrain mapping is integral to ecosystem mapping and its derivative products. This layer is derived from the STE_TEI_ATTRIBUTE_POLYS_SP layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE attribute. Project types include: TEM, TEMNSS, TEMPRE, TEMSEI, TEMSET, TEMTSM, TBS, TBT, TEMWHR, TEMSDM, TEMPRW, and TEMSEW. Current version: v11 (published on 2024-10-03) Previous versions: v10 (published on 2023-11-14), v9 (published on 2023-03-01), v8 (published on 2016-09-01)
BCGS 1:2,500 Mapsheet Grid - NAD 27
BCGS 1:2,500 scale grid, North Amercian Datum 1927. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales. This particular grid was generated in the older NAD27 datum to replicate historic Water Rights paper maps used by surface water rights management program
TANTALIS - Crown Land Inventory
TA_CROWN_INVENTORY_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of active and applied for Crown Land Inventory Dispositions. Inventories are lands identified for review to determine the availability to market. The view was created to provide a simplified presentation of this single tenure type from the disposition information in the Tantalis operational system. The same content could be derived from the TA_CROWN_TENURES_SVW by filtering to this tenure type only
Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest
The dataset identifies the location and types of ANSIs that are commonly used in maps for resource management purposes. Official GEO title: ANSI *[ANSIs]: Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest *[ANSI]: Areas of Natural and Scientific Interest
Natural Resource (NR) Regions
The spatial representation for a Natural Resource (NR) Region, that is an administrative area established by the Ministry, within NR Areas. These boundaries are designated by the Lieutenant Governor in council and published as regulations which establishes the Ministry's management areas. This dataset supersedes WHSE_ADMIN_BOUNDARIES.FADM_REGION
