Ministry of Health Service Provider Locations (MOHSERLO)
The Ministry of Health Service Provider Locations (MOHSERLO) geospatial dataset contains the locations of health service providers in Ontario.
Public health unit boundaries
This geospatial dataset contains the geographic boundaries of the 34 Public Health Units (PHUs) in Ontario, based on Statistics Canada’s Health Region Boundary File (2018). A PHU is the area of jurisdiction of a board of health. PHUs in Ontario are defined in Regulation 553 (Revised Regulations of Ontario), pursuant to Health Protection and Promotion Act R.S.O. 1990, Amended to O. Reg. 64/05.
Geographic Township Improved
A Township is a land subdivision in Ontario. This information was captured through the Ontario Base Mapping Program, is maintained by the Ministry of Natural Resources and distributed through Geospatial Ontario (GEO) Warehouse. The spatial accuracy for some of the townships was improved through the Ontario Parcel, Township Realignment and Township Improvement projects. Improvements may include: * road allowance widths * spatial changes to better represent where the township boundaries are located * more consistent concession names Materials used to improve the location of township lines may include: * township Improvement plots * survey information i.e. retracements * original township plans * surveys notes * the physical features e.g. fence lines in the corporate editing environment * water bodies * GPS Ontario Road Network geometry This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Canada groundwater wells, integrated national, provincial and territorial dataset
This layer comprises all the available water wells in GIN (Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador) and published through the open data platforms. This layer is a combination of all individual provincial and territorial layers. The original databases are dynamically converted by an automatic process managed by Natural Resources Canada (Groundwater Information Network).
Southern Ontario Surficial 3D Model
To support improved groundwater geoscience knowledge for southern Ontario, a regional 3-D model of the surficial geology of southern Ontario has been developed as a part of a collaboration between the Ontario Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Canada. Covering approximately 66,870 km2 in area, the model is a synthesis of existing geological models, surficial geology mapping, and subsurface data. The model is a simplified 9-layer reclassification of numerous mapped local surficial sediment formations in places over 200 m thick with a total volume of approximately 2,455 km3. The model integrates 1:50,000 scale surficial geology mapping with 90 m bathymetrically corrected topographic digital elevation model (DEM) and 8 existing local 3-D models. Archival subsurface data include 10,237 geotechnical and stratigraphic boreholes, 3,312 picks from geophysical surveys, 15,902 field mapping sites and sections, 537 monitoring and water supply wells and 282,995 water well records. Roughly corresponding to regional aquifer and aquitard layers, primary model layers are (from oldest to youngest): Bedrock, Basal Aquifer, Lower Sediment, Regional Till, Post Regional Till Channel Fill, Glaciofluvial Sediment, Post Regional Till Mud, Glaciolacustrine Sand and Recent Sediment / Organics. Modelling was completed using an implicit modelling application (LeapFrog®) complemented by an expert knowledge approach to data classification and rules-based Expert System procedure for data interpretation and validation. An iterative cycle of automated data coding, intermediate model construction and manual data corrections, expert evaluations, and revisions lead to the final 3-D model. A semi-quantitative confidence assessment has been made for each model layer surface based on data quality, distribution and density. This surficial geology model completes the development of a series of regional 3-D geological and hydrogeological models for southern Ontario.
Ontario Snow Survey location and data
This data contains location information for 1 of Ontario’s snow monitoring networks: * Surface Water Monitoring Centre (SWMC) Snow course data is collected by: * conservation authorities * Ontario Power Generation * Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) districts Data is collected twice a month from November 15 until May 15. The Surface Water Monitoring Centre uses this data to assess: * current snow cover * frozen ground conditions * snowpack * potential snowmelt * contributions to streamflow The snow data is located in a corporate water and climate database. This data helps MNR and conservation authorities assess the potential for flood at the local and provincial scale.
Snow Survey measurement locations
This dataset contains location information for 2 of Ontario’s snow monitoring networks: * Surface Water Monitoring Centre (SWMC) * Snow Network for Ontario Wildlife (SNOW), administered by the Wildlife Research and Monitoring Section Snow course data is collected by: * conservation authorities * Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) districts * Ontario Power Generation SWMC network data is collected twice a month from November 15 until May 15. SNOW network data is collected once a week from the first snowfall until snowmelt. The Surface Water Monitoring Centre uses the data to assess: * current snow cover * frozen ground conditions * snowpack * potential snowmelt * contributions to streamflow MNR’s Science and Research Branch use the data to: * help manage wildlife species including deer, moose, wild turkey, elk, wolves and coyotes * help ministry resource managers and scientists administer programs and conduct research * inform game management decisions such as white-tailed deer harvest quotas * support flight planning for the Moose Aerial Inventory program
Healthy Babies Healthy Children service regions
Ontario's Healthy Babies Healthy Children program helps infants and children up to age 6 and their families through: * risk screening and assessments * referrals to community programs and services * supports for new parents These shapefiles provide geospatial data for mapping the 34 Healthy Babies and Healthy Children delivery regions in Ontario. __Please note:__ The Healthy Babies Healthy Children program is delivered through Ontario’s public health units in partnership with hospitals and other community partners. The Healthy Babies Healthy Children boundaries align with Public Health Unit boundaries.
Ontario Digital Terrain Model (Lidar-Derived)
The Ontario Lidar Digital Terrain Model (DTM) Geospatial Ontario (GEO) Dataset is a raster product representing the bare-earth terrain derived from a classified lidar point cloud. The DTM data is available in the form of 1-km by 1-km non-overlapping tiles grouped into packages for download. This dataset is a compilation of lidar data from multiple acquisition projects, as such specifications, parameters and sensors may vary by project. This data is for geospatial tech specialists, and is used by government, municipalities, conservation authorities and the private sector for land use planning and environmental analysis.
Geospatial Ontario imagery
View spatial imagery of Ontario captured by satellite or airplane. __Background__ Every five years, the Ministry of Natural Resources coordinates projects to photograph high resolution imagery of settled areas of the province. Geospatial Ontario (GEO) acquires, maintains, and distributes this high-resolution imagery collected across Ontario. From 2013 to 2023, public and private sector organizations partnered with Ontario to share in the costs of acquiring aerial imagery. Project participants included: * other Ontario ministries * municipalities * federal agencies * conservation authorities * non-government organizations (NGOs) * private companies Starting in 2024, GEO will fully fund imagery acquisitions. All imagery will be released openly and available to everyone as soon as the imagery is ready as a mappable product. __Technical information__ This record includes all collections of digital orthophotography which are currently open to the public. Collections are differentiated by year of acquisition and region of the province covered. Orthophotographs are primarily taken during the spring in leaf-off/low-leaf conditions. All orthophotography is available as GeoTIFFs with the following bands of spectral information: * red * green * blue * near-infrared Pixel size is consistent within collections but varies between collections, ranging from a minimum of 16 cm to a maximum of 50 cm. __Open imagery access restrictions__ Starting in 2024, most orthophotography acquisitions will be made available under the Open Government Licence.
