Atlas of Canada - High Speed Internet Network
The Atlas of Canada High Speed Internet Network map illustrates the availability of high-speed internet across Canada in 2024. High speed internet service is broken up into 4 download speeds in Megabits per second. 25 Mbps, 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and Gigabit (940 Mbps). It features an inset map and a bar graph that provide additional insights. The inset map shows the percentage of population in each province with access to 50 Mbps internet. The bar graph shows the percent of population without access 50 Mbps internet by year, dating back to 2018.The Atlas of Canada High Speed Internet Network map is shown at a scale of 1:6 000 000. It is part of the new Atlas of Canada series, which features a shared look and feel across all map products to ensure consistency in design and layout. This map supports the Communication and Transportation theme, one of five core themes featured in the renewed Atlas of Canada web presence at atlas.gc.ca. Areas of high residency within the summer distribution of the beluga whale population
To identify areas of high residency, fine-scale tracking data from individual animals and coarser, short-term movement patterns of herds were analyzed. Individual radio-tracking was assessed from 2001 to 2005 and herd visual tracking was assessed from 1989 to 2008. Data was collected by two research teams: GREMM (Groupe de recherche et d’éducation sur les mammifères marins) and Fisheries and Océans Canada (DFO). Areas of high residency were determined using net displacement speed of herds and they were defined as adjacent cells where 50% of the herds travelled at or below a threshold speed.Areas of high residency do not represent the general distribution of the beluga whale and no association between these areas and specific biological functions could be established. The exact delimitation of these areas can change according to the definition criteria used in the analysis. Pan-Canadian Wind Integration Study: Wind speed at 100 m
The wind speed layer shows the modeled wind speed [m/s] at a height of 100 m above ground level, at each grid point, averaged over the three year period from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2010. Values are presented in bins with ranges of 0.5 m/s each. Further details including data at different heights, and for individual years, can be obtained by clicking on the dot representing the grid point location.

The Ontario Road Network (ORN) Composite product is a segmented derivative of the ORN Road Net Element (ORNELEM) data class. You can use it for mapping and general spatial analysis. Road segment information includes: * addressing * full street name * alternate street name * speed limit * number of lanes * pavement status * road class * jurisdiction * route number * direction of traffic flow * shield type information The ORN is a provincewide geographic database of over 250,000 km of: * municipal roads * provincial highways * resource and recreational roads The ORN is the authoritative source of roads data for the Government of Ontario. This product is derived from the [ORN Road Net Element](https://geohub.lio.gov.on.ca/datasets/mnrf::ontario-road-network-orn-road-net-element/about) data class. It combines three types of geometry: * road elements * ferry connections * virtual roads This product also includes additional road feature layers including: * blocked passages * underpasses * toll points * structures
Canadian Impact Assessment Registry – Assessment Inventory
The assessments layer represents all assessments undertaken under the Impact Assessment Act, including those that continue under the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012. It includes assessments undertaken by the Impact Assessment Agency and other federal authorities as posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry Internet site. The location of a given assessment included in the dataset is approximate and is based on information submitted by proponents, if applicable. More than one location may be identified for a given assessment. Trends of surface wind speed change based on adjusted and homogenized climate station data
Monthly, seasonal and annual trends of mean wind speed change (kilometres per hour) based on homogenized station data (AHCCD) are available. Trends are calculated using the Theil-Sen method using the station’s full period of available data. The availability of surface wind speed trends will vary by station; if more than 5 consecutive years are missing data or more than 10% of the data within the time series is missing, a trend was not calculated.
Ontario Road Network: Road Net Element
The ORN is a provincewide geographic database of over 250,000 kilometres of municipal roads, provincial highways, and resource and recreational roads. The ORN is the authoritative source of roads data for the Government of Ontario. Road names in the ORN are the official names provided by the authoritative jurisdiction for each road segment, such as a municipality or the Ontario Government. The list of authoritative sources used for the ORN is in the “Ontario Road Network - List of Partners” document in the Supporting Files section below. You can also find the authoritative jurisdiction for a specific road feature in the Jurisdiction table in ORN Road Net Element. ORN Road Net Element requires an advanced knowledge of GIS including LRS and complex table relationships. High Resolution Deterministic Prediction System - Continental
The High Resolution Deterministic Prediction System (HRDPS) carries out physics calculations to arrive at deterministic predictions of atmospheric elements from the current day out to 48 hours into the future. Atmospheric elements include temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, wind speed and direction, humidity and others. This product contains raw numerical results of these calculations. Geographical coverage of the system is most of Canada. Data is available over specific areas in the MSC Datamart and the whole coverage is available in the MSC GeoMet web services. Data is available at a horizontal resolution of about 2.5 km up to 31 vertical levels. Predictions are performed up to four times a day.
