Highway Reference Point is a visibly recognizable feature used to describe and identify a point on the Highway (i.e., a reference point abstracted on the Highway and defined by a physical landmark such as an intersection). HRP Landmarks are used in order to provide reference points relating to inventory item data

This is a point shape file representing 2 kilometre incremental distances along each of the 8 NWT highways. These 2km points do not represent the actual location of 2km highway posts found along the sides of the highways. The feature class points are placed every 2 kilometres along a highway and represent the distance from a fixed commencement point, the beginning of that highway.
Linear referencing and composite listing - Ontario highways
This data, also known as the Linear Highway Referencing System (LHRS), is used to locate events along the highway network. Three separate files make up the LHRS dataset: LHRS route is a spatial (GIS) representation of the highway network; LHRS Base Points divide the highway network into base sections with known driven distances; LHRS features points (composite listing) are additional described locations along the highway network. Last updated: 2026-05-17 05:00:17HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL consists of provincial and national highways system in Saskatchewan maintained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI). This data layer is based on the Linear Reference System (LRS) concepts. KM_FROM and KM_TO fields store the start point and the end point at Kilometer information of the line segment. Unique Identifiers (RoadName & NID) are associated with each line segment. The "RoadName" field carry the unique highway name for each line segment in a control section. "NID" National Identifier is used to manage the updates between data producer and data users. HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL data layer serves as a foundation for SURN, NRN, SASK911, CAR, SGI-iHaul and other applications.
