Historical Hydrometric Data
Historical hydrometric data are standardized water resource data and information. They are collected, interpreted and disseminated by the National Hydrological Services (NHS) in partnership with the provinces, territories and other agencies through the National Hydrometric Program. These data sets include daily mean, monthly mean, annual maximum and minimum daily mean and instantaneous peak water level and discharge information for over 2700 active and 5100 discontinued hydrometric monitoring stations across Canada.
Historical fish stocking data
Get data on fish stocking records from 1900 - 2012. This dataset is the most complete collection of historical fish stocking records available for the time period 1900 to 2012. It includes: * data source * species * rearing location * developmental stage * stock strain * spawning year * stocking date Related datasets: * [Ontario waterbody location identifer](https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/ontario-waterbody-location-identifier)
MTA - Mineral, Placer and Coal Tenure History SP
Holds historical data for mineral and placer, claims and leases, as well as, coal license applications, licenses and leases within the Province of British Columbia. This layer is utilized by Mineral Titles Online title history on the mineral, placer and coal viewers, respectively.
Historical Orders and Alerts
This file represents an aggregated dataset that shows previously active Orders and Alerts in the Province as initiated by Local Governments or First Nations. Start dates, re-installment dates and All Clear Dates for each Evacuation Order and Alert are included in this multipart polygon dataset. The dataset includes records beginning summer 2017 until the present day. Orders and Alerts that are currently active are found in [Evacuation Orders and Alerts](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/evacuation-orders-and-alerts).

Freshwater Atlas Glaciers
Glaciers and ice masses for the province, derived from aerial imagery flown in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Please refer to the [Glaciers](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/glaciers) dataset for recent glacier extents in British Columbia, and [Historical Glaciers](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/historical-glaciers) for a comparable historic view.
Historical Open Range - 1963-1994
Historical Open Range - 1963-1994 is a polygon layer that depicts grasslands and shrublands (originally designated as 'on land deemed with no potential for growing trees'). Data were derived from a (retired) Provincial Forest Cover Polygon dataset which was interpreted from air photos. Photograph and interpretation dates range from 1963 to 1994. This dataset has value as temporal snapshots of ecosystems under siege from human and natural processes. Data is useful for identification and analysis of forest ingrowth into grasslands from fire suppression. Encroachment can shift over time, for example from changing climate and disturbance events, and this data provides one measure of that shift. Data may also inform location of wildfire safety buffers around communities.
Evacuation Orders and Alerts
During a declared emergency event, this file represents an aggregated dataset that shows all of the active Orders and Alerts in the Province as initiated by the Local Governments or First Nations. When an Order or Alert is rescinded, its status changes to All Clear. The polygon is removed from this layer and copied to the [Historical Orders and Alerts dataset](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/historical-orders-and-alerts).
Historical trace metals concentrations from sediment samples and suspended particulate matter (SPM) samples, 1976 - 1987
This dataset is a compilation of numerous data files recovered as part of a data request in 2024 from a historical archive of DFO research data. Sediment and Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) samples were collected over more than a decade as part of Dr. Douglas Loring’s research program while working at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO). Samples were collected as part of individual and collaborative research projects, and links to the relevant primary science publications and reports are included in the data in an effort to provide context to the data, as well as describe the field and laboratory techniques used to generate the attached data.
Historical wildfire data : 1961 to 1982
Dataset including information on wildfires in the province of Alberta from 1961 to 1982, inclusive. Information tracked for each fire includes: cause, size, location (latitude and longitude, legal land description, and forest area), time and duration, weather conditions, staffing and physical resources used to suppress the fire, and area burned.
