The Improvement District dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent large unincorporated rural areas in Alberta. Improvement District is a large unincorporated rural area defined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act and administered under the Improvement District Act. The provincial and federal governments have the primary responsibility in the Improvement District except for school affairs.

The Settlement dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Settlements in Alberta. A settlement is an area of land that was surveyed prior to the Third System of Survey and does not normally follow the ATS grid.

A Township is a land subdivision in Ontario. This information was captured through the Ontario Base Mapping Program, is maintained by the Ministry of Natural Resources and distributed through Geospatial Ontario (GEO) Warehouse. The spatial accuracy for some of the townships was improved through the Ontario Parcel, Township Realignment and Township Improvement projects. Improvements may include: * road allowance widths * spatial changes to better represent where the township boundaries are located * more consistent concession names Materials used to improve the location of township lines may include: * township Improvement plots * survey information i.e. retracements * original township plans * surveys notes * the physical features e.g. fence lines in the corporate editing environment * water bodies * GPS Ontario Road Network geometry This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.

This dataset contains points showing the locations of the Manitoba Infrastructure's (MI) approved, new, and continuing capital projects for the year 2021/2022. Examples of MI's capital projects are asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements.This dataset contains points showing the locations of the capital projects such as asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements. This dataset was created by digitizing high-resolution imagery of Manitoba road network, bridge sites, and culvert locations. Hwy (Hwy): The highway number where the project is located.  Location Description (Location_Description): A detailed description of the project location. Project Distance in km (km): The physical length of the project Project Type (Project_Type): A particular category assigned to the project based on the nature of work. Total Project Status (Total_Project_Status): Current total status of the project (e.g. new, continue, etc.) Construction Project Status (Construction_Project_Status): Current phase of project (e.g. construction phase, engineering design phase, etc.) Anticipated Construction Start Date (Anticipated_Construction_Start_): The expected construction start date for the project. Anticipated Construction Complete Date (Anticipated_Construction_Comple): The expected construction completion date for the project. Municipality Name (MUNI_NAME): The name of the municipality where the project is located. Department Program (Department_Program): The name of the MI department responsible for the project. This dataset is used in Manitoba Infrastructure Projects an interactive map that shows Manitoba infrastructure's new, approved, and continuing capital project locations.

The spatial accuracy of the lot fabric for some townships has been improved through the Ontario Parcel, Township Realignment and Township Improvement projects. Improvements to the fabric may include: * road allowance widths * spatial changes to better represent the location of lot boundaries * more consistent concession names. Data is collected on an on-going basis. The time period "end date" may be more recent than indicated here.

Data from the former Kemptville, Midhurst and Aylmer Districts were compiled in this dataset to show forest areas on private land, managed by the landowner in cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources under the Woodlands Improvement Act (WIA). The WIA allowed for 15-year management agreements between landowners and the MNR to plant and improve woodlands on private land. The WIA was in place from 1966-1999. This data is being provided as-is. No additional data is available, and no updates or maintenance are planned for this dataset.

The Metis Settlement is a dataset comprised of all the polygons that represent Metis Settlements lands in Alberta. Metis Settlements are lands set apart by provincial legislation for the use and benefit of the members of the eight Metis Settlements in Alberta. The legal title of these lands rests with the Metis Settlements General Council, a legislated-body that holds the fee simple interest on all Metis settlement lands, equivalent to full ownership of the land, with certain limited rights reserved for the Crown. The provincial government has primary jurisdiction over these lands and the people living on them.
