Local government (LG) polygons are a graphical representation of the local government boundaries as defined in regulation 2022-50 under the Local Governance Act with an associated LG name attribute. Effective date is January 1, 2023.

This dataset contains spatial and attribute information for local and regional greenspaces in British Columbia. Local and regional greenspaces are municipal or regional district lands designated by local government agencies and managed for public enjoyment, ecosystem or wildlife values. Spatial boundaries were sourced from municipal and regional district web sites, which in some cases provide datasets under Open Government Licence, and in other cases, publicize parks and greenspaces on web maps or pdf maps. Boundaries were edge-matched to the ParcelMap BC cadastre. This spatial layer contains multipart polygons.

Rural district (RD) polygons are a graphical representation of the rural district boundaries as defined in regulation 2022-45 under the Local Governance Act with an associated RD name attribute. Effective date is January 1, 2023.

The boundaries are established from either Land Claims Final Agreement, Self Government Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, Local Advisory Area, or from a signed document between Yukon Government and First Nation. An Order in Council is prepared and the new boundary comes into effect. Older LAP's and Community Plans were approved by YG Minister and Cabinet as a policy document. This dataset contains a list of drainage superintendents who are appointed by the local municipality to manage drains constructed under the [Drainage Act, 1990](https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90d17). Drainage superintendents are businesses or individuals that represent the local municipality to assist landowners to resolve their drainage concerns using the Ontario Drainage Act, 1990. This list is maintained by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) and includes municipality names, addresses telephone numbers, and superintendent contact information. This list is updated annually or as required throughout the year. The School Districts dataset contains the spatial representation (polygon) of the current extent of the administrative areas defined under section 176(1) of the School Act for the purposes of preservation and promotion of the fundamental principle of local autonomy and control of public education at the public and governmental levels through locally elected school boards.

Fire management agreements divide land into 4 areas: * Crown Protection Area (CPA): The Crown is responsible for responding to all fires in the CPA * Municipal Protection Area (MPA): The municipality is responsible for responding in the MPA * Federal Protection Area (FPA): The federal government is responsible for responding in the FPA * Northern Fire Protection Area (NFPA): The local fire department (mostly in unorganized areas) is responsible for responding to all incidents and the suppression of fires in the NFPA

Local Government Offices is a point dataset identifying local government offices in British Columbia.

Legally defined __Municipal__ polygons were drawn from metes and bounds descriptions as written in Letters Patent for Municipalities in the province of British Columbia. In the event of a discrepancy in the data, the metes and bounds description will prevail. Although the boundaries were drawn based on the legal metes and bounds descriptions, they may differ from how regional districts and their member municipalities and electoral areas currently view and/or manage their boundaries. Where discrepancies are noted, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs (the custodian) enters into discussion with the local governments whose boundaries are affected. In order to effect a change to the boundary, Cabinet approval is required. This is done through an Order in Council (OIC). While discrepancies to administrative boundaries are being resolved, boundaries may be adjusted on an ongoing basis until the requested changes are completed. The OIC_YEAR and OIC_NUMBER fields indicate the year that the boundary was passed under OIC and its associated number. The AFFECTED_ADMIN_AREA_ABRVN identifies the administrative areas that are affected by the OIC.
