BC Macro-Reaches (50,000)
Stream Macro-Reaches delineated through interpretation of Topographic features from the 1:50,000 scale Canadian National Topographic Series of Maps.
Terrestrial Ecoprovinces of Canada
The “Terrestrial Ecoprovinces of Canada” dataset provides representations of ecoprovinces. An ecoprovince is a subdivision of an ecozone and is characterized by major assemblages of structural or surface forms, faunal realms, and vegetation, hydrology, soil, and macro climate. For example, the Newfoundland ecoprovince (no. 6.4) is one of six ecoprovinces within the Boreal Shield Ecozone
Forestry Education and Skills Resource Inventory
The dataset contains information relating to forestry-related trades education, associations, education, innovation, education/macro-credentials, institutions, and research.
Species abundance in geological pockmark features in Passamaquoddy Bay, Bay of Fundy, Canada, from 2001 to 2004
Between 2001 and 2004 a descriptive and comparative investigation of the benthic macro-infauna in 17 pockmarks and 10 reference locations outside pockmarks in Passamaquoddy Bay-Bay of Fundy- was made. This dataset contains the locations of the grab samples for each pockmark in the study area, the taxon abundance identified in each sample and the georeferenced video transect from 2004 using a towcam- an underwater, bottom referencing vehicle on which floodlights, analogue video- and digital still-camera were mounted. For more information of the data: Wildish DJ, Akagi HM, McKeown DL, Pohle GW (2008) Pockmarks influence benthic communities in Passamaquoddy Bay, Bay of Fundy, Canada. BCGS 1:5,000 Grid
British Columbia Geographic System 1:5,000 scale mapsheet grid. Each mapsheet is one fourth of a 1:10,000 mapsheet numbered 1 through 4. The neatlines were defined and created in geographic units and reprojected to BC Albers. Each of the mapsheets is 0.75 minutes (45 seconds) latitude by 1.50 minutes (90 seconds) longitude. The British Columbia Geographic System is a geographic system in which the coverage in minutes and seconds of longitude is double the coverage in minutes and seconds of latitude for sheets at all scales
Forest Tenure Special Access Road Polygon
This is a spatial layer showing Ministry of Forests Map Notation Lines. These are the spatial representation of the polygonal geometry for FSR Dedications and FSR Gravel Pits
Cutlines and Trails
The location of visible, linear, man made features of importance pertinent to the business activities of the Government of Alberta.
First Responders
First Responders identifies the location of ambulance, fire, police and coast guard facilities in British Columbia.
Petroleum Crown Lake Grid
This information is used to manage oil and gas rights on offshore Crown lands in Ontario. A grid system of blocks and tracts is used to divide the area. 1 block = 5 minute longitude by 5 minute latitude numbered area. 1 tract = 1 minute longitude by 1 minute latitude area, assigned by letters . 1 block contains 25 tracts. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Douglas-firs (Genus Pseudotsuga) in Canada2011
The raster maps depict a suite of forest attributes in 2001* and 2011 at 250 m by 250 m spatial resolution. The maps were produced using the k nearest neighbours method applied to MODIS imagery and trained from National Forest Inventory photo plot data. For detailed information about map production methods please refer to Beaudoin et al. (2018) "Tracking forest attributes across Canada between 2001 and 2011 using the k nearest neighbours mapping approach applied to MODIS imagery." Canadian Journal of Forest Research 48, 85-93. https://cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/publications?id=38979 The map datasets may be downloaded from https://nfi.nfis.org/downloads/nfi_knn2011.zip or https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/ec9e2659-1c29-4ddb-87a2-6aced147a990 * Note: the forest composition (leading tree genus) map depicts forest attributes in 2001.How can this data be used? The resolution and accuracy of these map products are best suited for strategic-level forest reporting and informing policy and decision making at regional to national scales. As these maps also offer a coherent set of quantitative values for a large suite of forest attributes, they can be used as baseline information for modelling and in calculations such as merchantable forest volume or percentage of tree species. It is also possible to overlay these maps with other maps produced on the same pixel grid to make assessments of disturbance impacts, such as fire and harvests.
