Ontario's Crown forest is divided into geographic planning areas, known as forest management units. Most of these units are managed by individual forest companies under a Sustainable Forest License. A forest management unit is identified by an assigned official name (e.g., Black Spruce Forest) and a unique numeric code. Before any forestry activities can take place in a management unit, there must be an approved forest management plan in place for each management unit. This dataset contains boundaries of Management Areas, which are geographic areas of managerial responsibility within Parks Operations Division, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas. Management Areas are groupings of Districts, which are geographic areas of operational responsibility within Parks Operations Division. Parks Operations Division Districts nest within Management Areas, which in turn nest within Regions. These boundaries are administrative/operational in nature, and are subject to change.

The Air and Watershed Resource Management Contacts and Boundaries dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Air and Watershed Stewardship districts and the manager to contact with questions or concerns about environmental framework implementation and management response. This dataset was created to lend support to the Regulatory Assurance Division.

TA_MGMT_AREAS_SPATIAL_SVW contains the spatial representation (polygon) of the management area boundaries established pursuant to section 3 of the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area Act. The view was created to provide a simplified view of this data from the administrative boundaries information in the Tantalis operational system

The purpose of this feature class is to identify the forest resources management zones within a Forest Resources Management Plan, as per subsection 2(h) of the Forest Resources Regulation. These sub-divided smaller forest planning areas or landscape units are based on watershed boundaries and modified by local access and development patterns. They usually contain similar management concerns and forest types. Game Management Areas (GMAs) are legal boundaries that define an area within which big game management objectives can be met through the setting of area-specific regulations. In other words, GMAs are used to manage Yukon wildlife species. GMAs are a combination of Game Management Zone (GMZ or Zone) and Game Management Subzone (GMS or Subzone). There are 443 GMAs in the Yukon which are grouped together into 11 Zones. In general, Zone boundaries follow highway centre lines and Subzone boundaries follow creeks and rivers. In effect, GMAs delineate mountain blocks, which reflects their original use as sheep management units. Despite this original intent, GMAs are now used to manage all species of Yukon wildlife. With the exception of National Parks, the entire Yukon is covered by GMAs. The spatial representation for current Timber Supply Areas (TSA). A Timber Supply Area is a designated area established by the Ministry in order to practice sound, integrated, resource management principles to improve the allowable annual cuts. TSAs were originally defined by an established pattern of wood flow from management units to the primary timber-using industries. They are the primary unit for allowable annual cut (AAC) determination.
