These applications and subsequent agreements give the holder the right to explore Metallic and Industrial Minerals.

Alberta Geological Survey Bulletin 64 documents 190 metallic mineral occurrences. We have digitized these occurrences into GIS format as a point shapefile. The description of these 190 metallic mineral occurrences on the exposed Precambrian Shield of northeast Alberta provides models for mineral deposition, establishes exploration targets and gives insights into the economic potential of the mineral showings. Commodities include gold, uranium, base metals and rare-earth elements. Among these occurrences, we have investigated 20 of them sufficiently, and they are of sufficient exploration importance to be classified as a mineral showing.

This is an ongoing compilation whereby recent drillholes that become publically available are added. In addition, improvements are frequently made to more historic drillholes with spurious information. Administrative boundaries called mining divisions were once used for recording claims. This information is now historic. This dataset contains the codes for each of the 24 mining division. For example, 1=ALBERNI, 2=ATLIN, 3=CARIBOO, 4=CLINTON, 5=FORT STEELE. These boundaries are no longer used for current administration. Mining division is needed when submitting the title page for your Technical Work Report.
