Aquatic Invasive Species of British Columbia
Site locations of aquatic invasive species occurrences throughout the province. The aquatic invasive species include species of amphibians, fishes, invertebrates, plants, alga and turtles. This spatial dataset was compiled from a number of data sources including The Invasive Plant Council of BC; the Beaty Biodiversity Museum; the Royal BC Museum; the Fisheries Information Summary System; E-Flora BC; Electronic Atlas of Plants of BC; and from private data compilations(spreadsheets) and personal consultation with BC Ministry of Environment staff and other local experts, peer-reviewed articles and other unpublished technical reports. Database of the Distributions of Marine Fishes of Arctic Canada
This dataset contains point distribution occurrences for fish species found in marine waters of Arctic Canada. It was used to create the distribution maps in the book Marine Fishes of Arctic Canada, edited by B.W. Coad and J.D. Reist (2018) and the DFO Data Report of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Distributional Records for Marine Fishes of Arctic Canada (Alfonso et al. 2018). The database includes literature (Coad and Reist 2016) and museum records, anecdotal reports, personal communications and data from fisheries surveys and exploratory cruises. Development of the database began in 1998 and data entry ceased in 2016, although the database will be updated periodically. Consult the book (Coad and Reist 2018) and the Data Report (Alfonso et al. 2018) for further details in regards to the specific sources for each data point by species especially those from sources other than published literature.
Year-round utilization of sea ice-associated carbon in Arctic ecosystems
This record contains a comprehensive synthesis of previously published highly branched isoprenoid (HBI) results, providing a quantitative spatial and temporal assessment of carbon partitioning within the Arctic marine ecosystem and validating estimates of sea-ice particulate organic carbon (iPOC) values as quantitative predictors of ice algal carbon in Arctic food webs. This publication was a collaborative effort with the following contributors: David Yurkowski (Fisheries and Oceans Canada), Lisa Loseto (Fisheries and Oceans Canada), Steve Ferguson (Fisheries and Oceans Canada), Bruno Rosenberg (Fisheries and Oceans Canada), C.W. Koch (Natural History Museum, London, UK; University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Maryland, US); T.A. Brown (Scottish Association for Marine Science, Oban, Scotland); R. Amiraux (Centre for Earth Observation Science, University of Manitoba, Canada); C. Ruiz-Gonzalez (Scottish Association for Marine Science, Oban, Scotland); M. Maccorquodale (Scottish Association for Marine Science, Oban, Scotland); G. Yunda-Guarin (Québec-Océan and Takuvik, Biology Department, Laval University, Canada); D. Kohlbach (Norwegian Polar Institute, Fram Centre, Tromsø, Norway); N.E. Hussey (Integrative Biology, University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada).
National Inventory of Orphaned and Abandoned Mines
This database aggregates basic information on orphaned and abandoned mine sites from participating Canadian jurisdictions, including their name, location, jurisdiciton, and the commodity that was mined. It was originally created in 2012 through the National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Initiative and has undergone several updates since that time. Data on sites in each jurisdiction is owned and maintained by that jurisdiction. The database includes links to the corresponding records in that jursidiction. While the database includes common informaiton about all sites, there may be discrepancies in the types of data provided about sites in different jurisdictions and data from some jurisdictions may be updated more frequently than others.

Heritage Conservation Areas of BC
This dataset contains spatial and attribute data for local government Heritage Conservation Areas (HCAs) established for heritage conservation purposes in British Columbia, as tracked by BC Heritage Branch. Under the Local Government Act, a local government may designate a HCA within its Official Community Plan (OCP). An OCP may include a schedule of properties located within a Heritage Conservation Area that are considered to be protected heritage property. This is a multi-part polygon layer.
