The Regulatory Assurance Division Region Boundaries dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Environment and Protected Areas Regulatory Assurance Division Region Boundaries within the Province of Alberta. The dataset is to help Government of Alberta Staff in managing workloads within the North and South Regions of Regulatory Assurance Division.

This is the Grid Section portion of the Oil and Gas Land Division System. This is a grid system consisting of three sections, Area, Section and Unit used to describe Yukon Oil and Gas Dispositions, Leases and Licences. Every Grid Area shall be divided into sections. Grid Areas between 60 degrees and 68 degrees north shall be divided at intervals of 1/8 between the east and west boundaries. Grid Areas between 68 degrees and 70 degrees north shall be divided at intervals of 1/6. The north/south boundaries shall be divided at intervals of 1/10. Each section shall be numbered. Numbering starts with 1 in the southeast corner and moves north along the east edge to 10. The second row is numbered starting in the south again with 11 and goes north to 20. Map shows the geography of the northern circumpolar region, north of approximately 55 degrees latitude. This product is derived from the Atlas of Canada's bilingual wall map "The Circumpolar Region - North" (MCR 0001). To limit the impact of aliasing of the annotation we rendered the map into two tiled web services with a service showing the 'base' information and the other the 'annotation.' Combined the two services more or less replicate the wall map online. In addition to the tiled services, the mxd and geodatabase in FGDB format are available for download. Note: Since the geodatabase was derived from a cartographic product not all features have attribute information even though they are labelled on the map.The map uses the azimuthal equidistant projection. Displayed on the map are the international boundaries, as well as the Canadian provincial and territorial boundaries, all current to 2014. Also shown are national capital cities, other cities, towns, villages and hamlets along with some seasonally populated places. The map identifies a number of significant northern features, including the median sea ice extent from September 1981 to 2010, the tree line, undersea relief, land relief, glaciers, ice fields and coastal ice shelves. Labelled are many of the physiographic and hydrographic features.

The spatial representation for a Natural Resource (NR) Region, that is an administrative area established by the Ministry, within NR Areas. These boundaries are designated by the Lieutenant Governor in council and published as regulations which establishes the Ministry's management areas. This dataset supersedes WHSE_ADMIN_BOUNDARIES.FADM_REGION

The Grazing Rental Zones is comprised of two polygons which determine which zone a grazing disposition (GRL, FGL, GRP) is in. These zones are used to apply the rental rate that grazing leases (GRL), grazing licenses (FGL) and grazing permits (GRP) pay to the government of Alberta for use of public lands. The Public Lands Modernization (Grazing Lease and Obsolete Provisions) Amendment Act came into force January 1, 2020. Under the new rental rate framework (Ministerial Order 01/2020), there are now two grazing rental rate zones based on the transition of the boreal region of the province. The North Saskatchewan River is the dividing line between the south (Zone 1) and north (Zone 2).

To better understand patterns of temporal and spatial variation of fish assemblages in offshore waters of Lake Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada), pelagic trawl tows were conducted at lakewide monitoring stations since 2002. Trawl samples collected during spring, summer, and fall from the south basin, channel, and north basin were used to study effects of season and geographic region within the lake on species biomass estimates.

This layer details Important Areas (IAs) relevant to important geographic features in the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA). This data was mapped to inform the selection of marine Ecologically and Biologically Significant Areas (EBSA). Experts have indicated that these areas are relevant based upon their high ranking in one or more of three criteria (Uniqueness, Aggregation, and Fitness Consequences). The distribution of IAs within ecoregions is used in the designation of EBSAs.Canada’s Oceans Act provides the legislative framework for an integrated ecosystem approach to management in Canadian oceans, particularly in areas considered ecologically or biologically significant. DFO has developed general guidance for the identification of ecologically or biologically significant areas. The criteria for defining such areas include uniqueness, aggregation, fitness consequences, resilience, and naturalness. This science advisory process identifies proposed EBSAs in Canadian Pacific marine waters, specifically in the Strait of Georgia (SOG), along the west coast of Vancouver Island (WCVI, southern shelf ecoregion), and in the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA, northern shelf ecoregion).Initial assessment of IA's in PNCIMA was carried out in September 2004 to March 2005 with spatial data collection coordinated by Cathryn Clarke. Subsequent efforts in WCVI and SOG were conducted in 2009, and may have used different scientific advisors, temporal extents, data, and assessment methods. WCVI and SOG IA assessment in some cases revisits data collected for PNCIMA, but should be treated as a separate effort.Other datasets in this series detail IAs for birds, cetaceans, coral and sponges, fish, invertebrates, and other vertebrates.Though data collection is considered complete, the emergence of significant new data may merit revisiting of IA's on a case by case basis.
