The purpose is to provide end users with a digital data representing the boundaries of incorporated municipalities in Manitoba. It also enables users of Manitoba spatial data to identify which municipality selected features fall within.This dataset is comprised of boundary geometry for all of the incorporated municipalities and Northern Affairs Communities within the Province of Manitoba.  The boundaries in this dataset represent the descriptions set forth in the Municipal Status and Boundaries Regulation (567/88R) and subsequent amendments, and regulations under The Northern Affairs Act.  The geospatial referencing of the Municipal Boundaries is based on the best available land parcel data for each municipality and Northern Affairs Community.  Where available, cadastral data based on registered survey plans was used.  Otherwise, the Manitoba Property Assessment Information dataset produced by Manitoba Municipal Relations was used.  The delineation of the boundaries was established according to the regulation establishing or amending the boundary of a municipality or Northern Affairs Community.  Dataset content is subject to:  Ongoing changes in municipal status and boundary and Northern Affairs Community boundary alterations that are generated through annexations, amalgamations, dissolutions or formations, all of which are approved by regulations made under The Municipal Act (for incorporated municipalities) and The Northern Affairs Act (for Northern Affairs Communities).  This dataset content is current to the most recent effective date of any such regulation amendment.   Ongoing development and maintenance of the land parcel datasets.  Improvements to the cadastral data are used to improve the positional accuracy of the municipal boundary polygons.   As of the publication date of this dataset the following known issues remain:  For municipal boundaries and Northern Affairs Communities that include water boundaries, such as in the Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba areas the water boundary portion that best reflects the municipal boundary was used.     In some instances, road allowances on a municipal boundary are included in both of the adjoining municipalities.   Please visit the Manitoba Municipal Relations website for more information www.gov.mb.ca/mr/land_use_dev/index.html.   The Manitoba Municipal Boundaries data reflects the status of municipal boundaries and Northern Affairs Communities at the time of export and was uploaded to Manitoba Maps as a feature layer. This point dataset represents both applications for a Mines Act permit and issued authorizations for mining activities proposed in the application. Applications for regional Mines Act permits are known as Notice of Work (NoW) applications. Regional mine permits are issued for mineral and coal exploration activities, sand and gravel production, quarry production, and placer mining. Major mine permits are issued for producing mineral and coal mines. Permits are issued by the chief permitting officer under section 10 of the Mines Act and administered by the ministry. Regional mines include: * Exploration — mineral, coal, rock quarry, industrial mineral or dimension stone * Sand and gravel — aggregate, rock or natural substances used for construction purposes * Placer   Most exploration and development activities require a permit under the Mines Act. A decision marks the end of the permitting process for a NoW application. The decision can either be to reject the application or to authorize the mining activities proposed in the NoW. * For new NoW authorizations, a Mines Act permit is issued * For an existing open Mines Act permit, the newly authorized mining activities are amended to the existing permit and the permit is re-issued   **NOTE:** Administrative amendments to a NoW are not captured in this dataset. We are currently working to include this addition for a more complete view of the data. For proponents, please log into https://minespace.gov.bc.ca/ to confirm any authorizations on your permits. The ministry is transitioning from point data to polygonal data for permits and authorizations. The polygon dataset is added to when data becomes available. Either the application standards are not met or requested documentation or security was not provided * Received – The NoW application has been sent from virtual FrontCounterBC to the ministry database * No Permit Required – Category when an inspector reviews the application and non-mechanized disturbance does not require a permit, for example an IP survey * Referral Complete – Referral and consultation is complete. The government needs to action the next steps * Withdrawn – Client requested the application to be withdrawn * Pending verification – Category for records needing review and verification. Typically, these are historical NoW applications with approvals. Manual review is required * NULL value – missing status and application type   **For the public view, please be aware that the ministry:** * Only shows mine commodities of gold or jade/nephrite in the MINE_COMMODITY_DESC (MN_COMD) field. The Indian Reserve dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Indian Reserves in Alberta and also includes their associated Bands/Nations and Tribal Council associations as described in the Canada First Nations Profile (https://fnp-ppn.aadnc-aandc.gc.ca/fnp/Main/Search/SearchRV.aspx?lang=eng). Indian Reserve lands are lands set aside for the exclusive use and benefits of the Bands/Nations to which it is assigned. The federal government has primary jurisdiction over these lands and the people living on them. A Band or First Nation is an administrative entity/governing body created by the Indian Act. A Band/Nation includes members of a First Nation or group for whom lands have been set apart, and for whom money is held by the Crown. Each First Nation has its own distinct culture, language, history, and governance structure. They are the primary decision-makers for their respective Indian Reserves and their members. The Government of Alberta recognizes certain nations as individuals that the Federal Government does not recognize. These Nation names will be formatted as 'Federally recognized community [Alberta Recognized Nation]'.A Tribal Council is a grouping of bands/Nations with common interests who voluntarily join together to provide advisory and/or program services to member bands. A First Nation may choose to affiliate with a Tribal Council to achieve shared goals in areas such as economic development, social services, education, or land management.
