Integrated Resource Plan - Subregional
The Integrated Resource Plan - Subregional dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Sub-Regional Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) in Alberta. All the Sub-Regional IRPs were completed under the Integrated Resource Planning Program, from 1976 to approximately 1995. These plans were endorsed by the Government of Alberta with most being approved by Cabinet. The Sub-Regional Plans describe land-use zonation and objectives within individual defined planning areas, to ensure overall consistency with Regional goals and objectives. An Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) is a plan which identifies the values and associated land and resource management goals for the planning area in consideration of the maintenance of social, economic, and ecological values. An IRP provides direction regarding the type of land and resource management activity that would facilitate meeting the stated objectives in the planning area (for example: recreation, grazing, industrial and commercial activities). The public was often involved in contributing input to the development of an IRP. Majority of IRP plans were endorsed by the Government of Alberta in various periods.
Caribou Sub-Regional Plan Boundaries
Sub-regional plans are Alberta's approach to supporting caribou recovery through careful land-use planning which recognizes and maintains working landscapes supporting a variety of social, economic and traditional land-use. The Caribou Sub-Regional Plan Boundaries dataset contains boundaries delineating the extent of sub-regional planning areas across northern Alberta. Sub-regional planning areas include those for the approved Bistcho Lake and Cold Lake sub-regional plans, as well as the following upcoming planning areas: Upper Smoky, Wandering River, Berland, Chinchaga, Slave Lake, Wabasca, Richardson, Red Earth, and Caribou Mountains. Upper Smoky Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data
Sub-regional plans support working landscapes that provide economic opportunities and maintain healthy landscapes by outlining management approaches and requirements for development and human footprint restoration. These plans enable public lands to support the interests of all Albertans, including Indigenous peoples, for the present and into the future. The Upper Smoky Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data collection contains spatial data that can be used for planning as described within the Upper Smoky Sub-regional Plan (2025) and has been developed by Lands Planning, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, Government of Alberta. The following datasets are available: Subregional Plan Boundaries, Management Zones, Conservation Areas, Watercourse Management Areas, Riparian Areas along the Wapiti and Smoky Rivers, Public Land Use Zone, and Harvest Timing Sequences E10 and G16.
Strategic Land and Resource Plans - Current
Contains the boundaries of current British Columbia Strategic Land and Resource Plans (SLRPs). The plans can be accessed [here](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/crown-land-water/land-use-planning/regions). SLRPs provide direction for Crown land use through the establishment of broad land use goals, planning zone designations, objectives and strategies. This layer represents an integrated regional consensus-based process, which requires public and First Nations participation to produce a SLRP for review and approval by government. SLRPs establish direction on land and resource use and specify broad resource management objectives and strategies. Historical plan types include SRMPs, LRMPs, RLUPs and coastal plans. Current, non-retired SLRP boundaries are included in this layer, where RETIREMENT_DATE is blank. RETIREMENT_DATE is the field that stores the retirement date. If RETIREMENT_DATE is empty, the feature is the current shape. All SLRP shapes (past/retired and present/current) are in the layer [Strategic Land and Resource Plans - All](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/298d1034-c1be-4fd1-ad4b-d00ad5ab4b88). ** Please review the Data Quality section below.**
Greenbelt hamlets
Hamlets are smaller settlement areas identified in municipal official plans, generally without municipal water and sewer servicing. For precise boundaries and locations of hamlets, the appropriate municipality should be consulted.
Local Area Plans
The boundaries are established from either Land Claims Final Agreement, Self Government Agreement, Memorandum of Understanding, Local Advisory Area, or from a signed document between Yukon Government and First Nation. An Order in Council is prepared and the new boundary comes into effect. Older LAP's and Community Plans were approved by YG Minister and Cabinet as a policy document. Newer plans are approved in the same manner which also include First Nation resolution by Chief and Council Some of these contain a Future Land Use Plan or Land Use Plan with area designations.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Manitoba Development Plan Designations
The purpose of this layer is to provide end users with a spatial representation of the Designated Areas in adopted Development Plans and their consolidated amendments in Manitoba. It also allows users of the data to undertake a variety of land use planning analyses based on Development Plan Designations. This layer is intended to be a source of data delivery as well as usage in situ. This dataset is comprised of boundary geometry representing the Development Plan Designations for all of the Development Plan bylaws (as defined in The Planning Act) in force and effect within the Province of Manitoba. Spatial referencing of the designations is based on the best available land parcel data for each municipality. Where available, land parcel data based on registered survey plans and ground control coordinates was used. Otherwise, the reference grid maintained by Manitoba Sustainable Development was used. The delineation of the boundaries is set by the bylaw establishing or amending the boundary of each designation. Dataset content is subject to: Ongoing changes in designated areas which are determined by amendments to adopted Development Plans or the adoption of new Development Plans. Ongoing development and maintenance of the land parcel datasets. Improvements to the land parcel data are used to improve the positional accuracy of the Development Plan designation polygons. As of the publication date of this dataset, the following known issues remain: For designation boundaries that include water boundaries, the water boundary that best reflects the intended designation boundary was used. In some instances, road allowances on a municipal boundary are included in both of the adjoining municipalities. Please visit the Manitoba Municipal Relations website for more information at www.gov.mb.ca/mr. The Development Plan Designations data reflects the most current designations at the time of export and was uploaded to Manitoba Maps as a feature layer. Fields Included: OBJECTID: Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated DP_BYLAW: Number assigned by planning authority to identify a specific bylaw DPA_BYLAW: Number assigned to a bylaw that amends an existing development plan bylaw PLANNINGDISTRICT: Name of the Planning District establishing the bylaws PLANNINGREGION: Area of responsibility for a Community and Regional Planning Branch (In the Department of Municipal Relations) office ACRES: Area of each polygon expressed in acres DES_NAME: Name of Designation as stated in the Development Plan bylaw DES_CATEGORY: Designation category as interpreted by Municipal Relations RES_MIN_ACRES_PER_LOT: Minimum acreage for a residential lot as defined by the Development Plan bylaw RES_MAX_ACRES_PER_LOT: Maximum acreage for a residential lot as defined by the Development Plan bylaw MUNI_NO: Manitoba municipality identifier number MUNI_NAME: Name of municipality AU_LIMIT: Animal Unit limit as set by the Development Plan Policy
Cold Lake Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data
Sub-regional plans support working landscapes that provide economic opportunities and maintain healthy landscapes by outlining management approaches and requirements for development and human footprint restoration. These plans enable public lands to support the interests of all Albertans, including Indigenous peoples, for the present and into the future. The Cold Lake Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data dataset contains spatial data that can be used for planning as described within the Cold Lake Sub-regional Plan (2022). The following datasets are available: Recreational Management Areas, Access Management Plan Centerlines, and Riparian Setbacks. Please see the metadata on the individual datasets for details.
Resource Management Area
The Resource Management Area (RMA) dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the resource management areas of the 17 Integrated Resource Plans (IRP) - Subregional in Alberta. This dataset does not include the RMAs of Local IPR plans due to the resource restraint. Future enhancement of this data set to include Local IRP plans is feasible when resources are available. A Resource Management Area is an area identified within a Sub-Regional IRP plan for more detailed land and resource management intent on a landscape assessment. Generally, a Resource Management Area is characterized by an intent statement and detailed resource management objectives and guidelines. However, there are IRP plans which have their own specific RMA definitions. Plans include, Lakeland Sub-Regional IRP: A RMA is a geographic area of common resource management intent. There is a management intent statement for each resource management area. The intent statement expresses the resource priorities for the area. Kananaskis Country Sub-Regional IRP: RMA areas identify broad units of land within the planning area which have distinct management intents and specific management objectives.
