Pan-Canadian predictive model of Carbonatite-hosted REE and Nb deposits
A predictive model for Canadian carbonatite-hosted REE ± Nb deposits is presented herein. This model was developed by integrating diverse data layers derived from geophysical, geochronological, and geological sources. These layers represent the key components of carbonatite-hosted REE ± Nb mineral systems, including the source, transport mechanisms, geological traps, and preservation processes. Deep learning algorithms were employed to integrate these layers into a comprehensive predictive framework. Ground ice map of Canada - wedge ice
The mapping depicts the relative abundance of wedge ice in upper permafrost at a national scale. The mapping is based on modelling by O'Neill et al. (2019) (https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-13-753-2019). The mapping offers an improved depiction of ground ice in Canada at a broad scale, incorporating current knowledge on the associations between geological and environmental conditions and ground ice type and abundance. It provides a foundation for hypothesis testing related to broad-scale controls on ground ice formation, preservation, and melt.
School Districts of BC
The School Districts dataset contains the spatial representation (polygon) of the current extent of the administrative areas defined under section 176(1) of the School Act for the purposes of preservation and promotion of the fundamental principle of local autonomy and control of public education at the public and governmental levels through locally elected school boards.
Ground ice map of Canada - relict ice
The mapping depicts the relative abundance of relict (buried glacier) ice preserved in upper permafrost at a national scale. The mapping is updated and based on modelling by O'Neill et al.
Ground ice map of Canada - segregated ice
The mapping depicts the relative abundance of segregated ice in upper permafrost at a national scale.
Conservation Easement
A digital record of all Conservation Easements kept for planning purposes. This dataset represents all Conservation Easements registered with the Ministry of Environment. Clause 7(3) of the Conservation Easements Act indicates that for a CE to be in effect a copy of an executed CE must be provided to the Ministry. Receipt of this document is recorded in this Lands Branch database and an Agreement number is assigned sequentially. An interest, based on the CE, must also be registered with ISC. Currently these two datasets are not reconciled. Technical Details: Conservation Easements are meant to protect native habitat on lands in the Province. The boundaries of the native habitat protected under a CE may not coincident with the parcel boundaries. However, the CE is identified to the larger parcel boundary. It is this parcel identification the is reflected in this spatial dataset. The Agreement Number is included which identifies the filing number under which detailed information can be found in digital and hardcopy within the Lands Branch of the Ministry of Environment.
BC Parks, Ecological Reserves, and Protected Areas
This dataset contains parks and protected areas managed for important conservation values and are dedicated for the preservation of their natural environments for the inspiration, use and enjoyment of the public. Places of special ecological importance are designated as ecological reserves for scientific research and educational purposes. Source data is Tantalis. *April 18, 2018: Prior to this date this dataset had one spatial boundary per park per survey plan that intersected the boundary of that park. This resulted in multiple identical boundaries for each park that had more than one survey plan overlapping it’s boundaries. The change aggregated the park data so that there is just one boundary per park with the plan numbers concatenated into a single column where each different plan number is separated by a comma.
Ground ice map of Canada
The mapping depicts a first-order estimate of the combined volumetric percentage of excess ice in the top 5 m of permafrost from segregated, wedge, and relict ice. The estimates for the three ice types are based on modelling by O'Neill et al. (2019) (https://doi.org/10.5194/tc-13-753-2019), and informed by available published values of ground ice content and expert knowledge.
Biological and chemical marine discrete data - Gulf of St. Lawrence and the St. Lawrence Estuary
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) holds discrete oceanographic, biological, and chemical data collected throughout the St. Lawrence Estuary, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and the Saguenay Fjord, as well as data gathered outside of these zones during non-routine surveys (collected by the Quebec region). These data come from samples taken at different depths in the water column (surface, bottom, and intermediate depths), mainly during annual scientific missions such as:- weekly monitoring at fixed stations (Rimouski, Shediac Valley)- annual multispecies surveys (Northern and Southern Gulf)- spring and fall missions of the Atlantic Zone Monitoring ProgramThis dataset presents the variables most frequently sampled for the period 1990 to two years prior to the present, namely, salinity, dissolved oxygen concentration, chlorophyll-a concentration, nutrient concentrations (nitrite, nitrate, silicate, phosphate), pH and alkalinity. These measurements are often accompanied by data from CTD profiles (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth/Pressure) and auxiliary sensors (fluorescence, turbidity, pH).Annual synthesis of the chemical and biological oceanographic conditions of the study area have been published since 2011, and reports on zonal conditions of the four Atlantic regions of DFO are also available for certain years: https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/science/data-donnees/azmp-pmza/index-eng.htmlThis record is updated annually as new data become available. To obtain access to earlier data, less frequently sampled variables, or specifications regarding laboratory analyses (analytical methods, preservation, and storage), please contact the data management team at: gddaiss-dmsaisb@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.Notes: This publication contains data extracted from the national BioChem database (Biological and Chemical Marine Data: DFO.BioChemDatabase-BasededonneesBioChem.MPO@DFO-MPO.GC.CA). When replicate samples were present, the values were averaged, and values were grouped by variable regardless of the analysis method, preservation method, or storage method. The grouping of variables collected at the same station is based on spatial and temporal metadata: LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, DATE, and TIME.
