Clean power generating stations by type in megawatts (MW)
This Web Map Service depicts the location of clean electricity generating facilities by type of clean energy source and power generation capacity. Clean energy sources shown on the map include biomass, hydro, nuclear, solar, tidal and wind. The data comes from the provinces and territories, other federal departments and clean energy associations in Canada. The service is one of many themes mapped in the web mapping application Map of Clean Energy Resources and Projects (CERP) in Canada.
Municipal Boundaries
Municipal boundaries are created by Order in Council as per the Municipal Act. Each Municipality has it's own Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Bylaw. Historic placer mining areas in Yukon can be grouped into ten areas: Klondike; Sixtymile; Fortymile; Clear Creek; Moosehorn Range; Stewart River; Whitehorse South; Mayo; Dawson Range and Livingstone Creek. Each area has its own geomorphic setting and depositional history which is related to its glacial history. Indian Reserve
The Indian Reserve dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Indian Reserves in Alberta and also includes their associated Bands/Nations and Tribal Council associations as described in the Canada First Nations Profile (https://fnp-ppn.aadnc-aandc.gc.ca/fnp/Main/Search/SearchRV.aspx?lang=eng). Indian Reserve lands are lands set aside for the exclusive use and benefits of the Bands/Nations to which it is assigned. The federal government has primary jurisdiction over these lands and the people living on them. A Band or First Nation is an administrative entity/governing body created by the Indian Act. A Band/Nation includes members of a First Nation or group for whom lands have been set apart, and for whom money is held by the Crown. Each First Nation has its own distinct culture, language, history, and governance structure. They are the primary decision-makers for their respective Indian Reserves and their members. The Government of Alberta recognizes certain nations as individuals that the Federal Government does not recognize. These Nation names will be formatted as 'Federally recognized community [Alberta Recognized Nation]'.A Tribal Council is a grouping of bands/Nations with common interests who voluntarily join together to provide advisory and/or program services to member bands. A First Nation may choose to affiliate with a Tribal Council to achieve shared goals in areas such as economic development, social services, education, or land management.
Physiographic Regions of Canada
Canada’s landmass is very diversified and comprises 7 distinctive areas called physiographic regions, each of which has its own unique topography and geology. Physiographic regions are large areas that share similar relief and landforms shaped by common geomorphic processes and geological history. Physiographic regions are often used to describe Canada’s geography to show regional differences in climate, vegetation, population and the economy.This dataset collection contains three interrelated datasets mapping the location of Canada’s 7 different physiographic regions, their 21 subregions and many divisions (landforms).
Tidal Current and Power Density Maps of Quatsino Sound, British Columbia, Derived from Hydrodynamic Modeling-Based Tidal Resource Assessments
A tidal resource assessment dataset for the Quatsino Sound region, British Columbia, was developed, including temporal maximum, mean, and minimum velocity magnitudes, standard deviations, and power density. The dataset was generated using a high-resolution 2D depth-averaged hydrodynamic model based on the Telemac-Mascaret solver, with Natural Neighbor interpolation applied for raster creation. This newly published dataset is the first in a series of regional tidal energy maps for Canada. Developed by CanmetENERGY Ottawa in collaboration with partners, these maps aim to support effective project planning and development by providing comprehensive tidal resource data across the country.Disclaimer:Potential errors in the model results may arise from inherent limitations in the topo-bathymetric data accuracy, assumptions in boundary conditions, approximations within the numerical methods, and the input data used in the numerical modeling. These factors introduce uncertainties that can affect the overall model outcomes. The model is subject to the following conditions:• Topo-bathymetric data: Obtained from electronic navigational charts and the Canadian Hydrographic Service’s (CHS) NONNA-10 Bathymetric Data packages, consolidating CHS-managed digital bathymetric sources with a maximum resolution of 10 m.• Tidal and current harmonic components: Used as boundary conditions from the TPXO9 global tidal model.• Model calibration and validation: Performed using data from Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), surface elevations recorded at CHS tidal stations, and Lagrangian drifter measurements.• Interpolation method: Dataset outputs were generated with Natural Neighbor interpolation, which assumes smoothly varying data and may not capture sharp local gradients or features.• Modeled estimates: All values for velocity magnitudes, velocity standard deviations, and power density are modeled estimates and not direct field measurements.This dataset is intended for preliminary assessment of tidal projects only. It should not be the sole basis for making critical decisions or investments. We strongly recommend further validation and in-depth analysis. Users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence and additional research to verify the data's accuracy and relevance for specific applications.By accessing and using this dataset, users acknowledge and accept these disclaimers. Province and territory 2016
'Province' and 'territory' refer to the major political units of Canada. From a statistical point of view, province and territory are basic areas for which data are tabulated. Canada is divided into 10 provinces and 3 territories. Statistics Canada uses standard codes and abbreviations to represent provinces and territories. The two-digit code that uniquely identifies each province/territory is based on the Standard Geographical Classification (SGC). The code is assigned from east to west. The first digit represents the geographical region of Canada in which the province/territory is located and the second digit denotes one of the 10 provinces and 3 territories.
Dawson Landscape Management Units - 250k
The Recommended Plan divides the Dawson planning region into 21 discrete areas of land called Landscape Management Units. They are generally based upon differences in use, ecology, land status, habitat and physical landscape features such as watersheds. Each Landscape Management Unit has its own management direction.The Recommended Plan’s Land Use Designation System describes the management intent of each Landscape Management Unit. Forest Health Aerial Overview - 50k
This feature delineates forest health disturbances which includes Abiotic and Biotic forest health agents in the Yukon at a scale of 1:100,000. It is a management level forest health overview survey (as opposed to an operational level) - meaning that analysis and mapping are most effective close to the 1:100,000 scale and not larger.
