Information about roads under Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) jurisdiction may fall within the responsibility of several different ministry branches and including: * Forests Division * Parks, Lands & Waters Branch * Resource access roads The dataset also contains roads not under the jurisdiction of the MNR like municipal roads and provincial highways. These are sourced from the Ontario Road Network.

The Base Features Access and Facility Roads spatial layer is the authoritative source of road data for the province of Alberta. It is a part of the Access data collection which also includes railways, powerlines, cutlines and trails, and industrial facilities.

The Community Roads Names dataset was created to enable road labeling for Yukon Communities. Roads in the communities are mapped and the road names are attributed to allow labeling. This cartographic quality series of 1:2 000 000 scale colour maps cover the provincial extent of Alberta. The primary provincial base map displays the Alberta Township System (ATS), major hydrographic features, municipalities, major roads, railways and select geoadministrative features (parks, reserves, etc.). In addition to the primary provincial base map, this series includes various themes that overlay the primary base map. The update of this map series is based on the provincial Base Features Access Update Program that has an approximate 5 year update cycle. Refer to the 'time period of content' in the metadata record for currency of each map product. Each individual map sheet is provided in Adobe .pdf format.

OTHERROAD_OFFICIAL provides the geospatial information of urban road network in the Province of Saskatchewan. It is one of the base layer used to create "Roadseg" layer for Saskatchewan Upgraded Road Network (SURN) and National Road Network (NRN). This data layer contains relatively up-to-date and accurate description of all urban roads in the provinceOTHERROAD_OFFICIAL consists of all the roads within the urban limits and any other roads those are not the part of RURALROAD_OFFICIAL and HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL. Original geometry of this layer is derived from National Road Network data layer. Urban Municipalities are responsible of the correctness and currentness of the Urban road network and Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI) maintained OTHERROAD_OFFICIAL data layer/table according to the NRN standards. Unique Identifiers (NID) is associated with each line segment. "OTHER_ROAD_ID" is an auto generated unique ID for each road segment in OTHER_ROAD_OFFICIAL. "NID" National Identifier is used to manage the updates between data producer and data users. OTHERROAD_OFFICIAL data layer is one of the important data table for SURN, NRN, SASK911, CAR and other applications.

CanVec is a digital cartographic reference product of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). It originates from the best available data sources covering Canadian territory, offers quality topographical information in vector format and complies with international geomatics standards.
