Shelters
The intention is to show the boundaries of all refuges in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001) under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Refuge types include Wildlife Refuge, Game Bird Refuge, Goose Refuge, and Fur Bearing Animal Refuge. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines what activities are prohibited within each refuge.Boundaries are drawn based on the physical description described in regulation, or imported using CAD files from the official Director of Surveys Plan stated in regulation.
Registered Fur Management Area
The Registered Fur Management Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent the Registered Fur Management Areas in Alberta. A Registered Fur Management Area (RFMA) is a parcel of public land, the boundary of which is described on the Registered Fur Management Licence. If a Registered Fur Management Area is described by reference to a line, that area includes all land within 0.5 mile on each side of that line. A Registered Fur Management Licence permits the licence holder to hunt and trap fur-bearing animals on the lands described on the licence.

Pheromone Trap Maps
The Forest Health Section currently monitors for two insects using pheromone traps. Pheromones are the chemical signal insects created by the insect for communication. Pheromones are used for numerous types of communication. In some species they are used to call other insects together (e.g. aggregation), in some they are used to repel others (e.g. anti-aggregation), in most insects these chemical signals are very specific and unique. Scientists have been able to identify and reproduce these chemicals in many species, allowing us to monitor species presence/absences and relative abundance in pest management. The Province places traps containing pheromone lures for both throughout the province.At the end of the season, the number of moths found in the traps give an indication of population trends for that season. These result support additional monitoring efforts such as the SBW fall population forecast.
