Ministry of Natural Resources road segments
Information about roads under Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) jurisdiction may fall within the responsibility of several different ministry branches and including: * Forests Division * Parks, Lands & Waters Branch * Resource access roads The dataset also contains roads not under the jurisdiction of the MNR like municipal roads and provincial highways. These are sourced from the Ontario Road Network.
Forestry Resource Roads - 50k
Forest resource roads (FRR) are actively used for accessing forest resources. FRRs are tracked and managed in a road management database. These roads do not represent a complete road network, they should be viewed in conjunction with the Roads -50k - Canvec dataset. Many FRRs are gated with controlled access. There are four categories of roads in the dataset: Forest Resource Roads (act); Forest Resource Access (non-act), Public Access (non-act) and auxiliary roads:- Forest resources road (Act): a road constructed, modified or maintained for the purpose of providing access for forest resources harvesting or management of forest resources that is authorized under subsection 32(1) of the Act, or a road designated as forest resources road under section 73 of the Regulation. These roads were constructed or designated after the Forest Resources Act and Regulation were enacted. - Forest resource access (non-Act): a road constructed, modified or maintained for the purpose of providing access for forest resources harvesting or management of forest resources that is considered a capital investment by the Government of Yukon, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Forest Management Branch. These roads were constructed prior to the enactment of the Forest Resources Act. - Public Access (non act): a pre-existing public road. In this road network all Public Access is part of the forest resource access network. - Auxiliary access: a variety of access types that do not conform to the above descriptions and may include: research forest trails, skid trails, heritage trails, trails that access forest resources. Ministry of Natural Resources Road Barrier
A Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Road Barrier is when access to a road segment or network is restricted or controlled. Road authorities in Ontario have the mandated responsibility to construct roads or have them constructed on their behalf. They include: * Ministry of Natural Resources (resource access roads and park roads) * Municipalities * Ministry of Transportation * Ministry of Northern Development and Mines * Federal government (roads on federal lands, e.g. national parks, Dept. of Defense) * First Nations * Other, e.g., local roads boards This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Access and Facility Roads
The Base Features Access and Facility Roads spatial layer is the authoritative source of road data for the province of Alberta. It is a part of the Access data collection which also includes railways, powerlines, cutlines and trails, and industrial facilities.
Vegetation Inventory Roads - 40k
The roads and linear features in this data set were compiled and interpreted in association with the Vegetation Inventory (1995-2006). It is a representation of various linear features on the land base. The linear features were classified by the interpreters based on the NTDB classification system for roads and trails, at that time. When used in conjunction with other road or linear transportation networks, there may be duplication of lines and information.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Spring Weight Restrictions - Exempt Roads
This dataset provides the spatial locations of provincial roads that are exempt from Spring Weight Restrictions as they are imposed. For the non-exempt roads please check https://data.novascotia.ca/Roads-Driving-and-Transport/Spring-Weight-Restrictions-Non-exempt-Roads/8xvj-phvi
Roads - 250k - Canvec
Transport Features is composed of, among others, the National Road Network (NRN) and the National Railway Network (NRWN). Transport Features entities are: Nautical Facility, Track Segment, Track Junction, Railway Station, Track Crossing, Track Marker Post, Track Structure, Rail Ferry, Road Segment, Road Ferry, Road Junction, Blocked Passage, Toll Point, Aerial Cableway, Footbridge, Trail, Navigational Aid, Marina, and Runway. CanVec is a digital cartographic reference product of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). It originates from the best available data sources covering Canadian territory, offers quality topographical information in vector format and complies with international geomatics standards. CanVec is a multi-source product coming mainly from the National Topographic Data Base (NTDB), the Mapping the North process conducted by the Canada Center for Mapping and Earth Observation (CCMEO), the Atlas of Canada data, the GeoBase initiative and the data update using satellite imagery coverage (e.g. Landsat 7, Spot, Radarsat, etc.).Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Ontario Road Network (ORN) Composite
The Ontario Road Network (ORN) Composite product is a segmented derivative of the ORN Road Net Element (ORNELEM) data class. You can use it for mapping and general spatial analysis. Road segment information includes: * addressing * full street name * alternate street name * speed limit * number of lanes * pavement status * road class * jurisdiction * route number * direction of traffic flow * shield type information The ORN is a provincewide geographic database of over 250,000 km of: * municipal roads * provincial highways * resource and recreational roads The ORN is the authoritative source of roads data for the Government of Ontario. This product is derived from the [ORN Road Net Element](https://geohub.lio.gov.on.ca/datasets/mnrf::ontario-road-network-orn-road-net-element/about) data class. It combines three types of geometry: * road elements * ferry connections * virtual roads This product also includes additional road feature layers including: * blocked passages * underpasses * toll points * structures
