Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Special Lane
A Special Lane defines the number of special lanes that are not defined as through travel lanes, passing lanes, or truck lanes which are described in the Highway Profile dataset. It is a Linear feature
Petroleum Historical Oil Field
Historical Oil Fields are subsurface accumulations or 'pools' of crude oil designated as such for the purposes of the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Ministry of Transportation (MOT) Highway Profile
A Highway Profile defines the number of through travel lanes, including passing and truck lanes, and whether the road is divided or not. It is a Linear feature
Lac-Mégantic accident: aerial photography by Aéro-Photo after the incident (July 10, 2013)
On July 6, a train of 72 cars, carrying 100 tons of crude oil each, exploded in Lac-Mégantic. A high-resolution aerial photograph was collected by Aéro-Photo after the train derailment. This aerial photograph was provided and georeferenced by Aéro-Photo (1961) inc. Purpose: This aerial photograph makes it possible to identify the impact radius of the accident. The image web service (WMS) is offered as an open service. However, to obtain the raw image, please contact Aéro-Photo (1961) inc.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Statistically downscaled scenarios of projected mean temperature change
Statistically downscaled multi-model ensembles of projected change (also known as anomalies) in mean temperature (°C) are available at a 10km spatial resolution for 1951-2100. Statistically downscaled ensembles are based on output from twenty-four Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) global climate models (GCM). Downscaled daily mean temperature was calculated by averaging downscaled daily minimum and maximum temperature. Daily minimum and maximum temperature from GCM outputs were downscaled using the Bias Correction/Constructed Analogues with Quantile mapping version 2 (BCCAQv2). Historical gridded minimum and maximum temperature datasets of Canada (ANUSPLIN) were used as the respective downscaling targets. Projected change in mean temperature (°C) is with respect to the reference period of 1986-2005. Seasonal and annual averages of projected mean temperature change to 1986-2005 are provided. Specifically, the 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th and 95th percentiles of the downscaled ensembles of mean temperature change are available for the historical time period, 1901-2005, and for emission scenarios, RCP2.6, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5, for 2006-2100. Twenty-year average changes in statistically downscaled minimum mean temperature (°C) for four time periods (2021-2040; 2041-2060; 2061-2080; 2081-2100), with respect to the reference period of 1986-2005, for RCP2.6, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 are also available in a range of formats. The median projected change across the ensemble of downscaled CMIP5 climate models is provided. Note: Projections among climate models can vary because of differences in their underlying representation of earth system processes. Thus, the use of a multi-model ensemble approach has been demonstrated in recent scientific literature to likely provide better projected climate change information.

UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) 100 KM Grid
Many geometrical schemes - or map projections - are used to represent the curved surface of the Earth on map sheets. Canada uses the **Universal Transverse Mercator** (UTM) system. It is called transverse because the strips run north-south rather than east-west along the equator. This data class shows a 100 km x 100 km grid coordinate system based on the UTM projection using the North American Datum 83 (NAD83). It includes: * Military Grid Reference * Atlas identifier
Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation
The Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation (CIMD) is an area-based index which used 2016 Census of Population microdata to measure four key dimensions of deprivation at the dissemination area (DA)-level: residential instability, economic dependency, situational vulnerability and ethno-cultural composition.Using factor analysis, DA-level factor scores were calculated for each dimension. Within a dimension, ordered scores were assigned a quintile value, 1 through 5, where 1 represents the least deprived and 5 represents the most deprived. The CIMD allows for an understanding of inequalities in various measures of health and social well-being. While it is a geographically-based index of deprivation and marginalization, it can also be used as a proxy for an individual. The CIMD has the potential to be widely used by researchers on a variety of topics related to socio-economic research. Other uses for the index may include: policy planning and evaluation, or resource allocation.
Canadian National Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Fuel Type (FT) Layer - Current Year
A National Forest Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Fuel Type (FT) layer, representing fuel types as described in the Canadian Forest Fire Danger Rating System (CFFDRS) Canada-wide. This data is developed through the Spatialized Canadian National Forest Inventory (SCANFI) dataset, specifically the updated SCANFI version 2.0. The Fuel Type layer is produced at variable resolution to best meet the needs of users: 30m (default) and 100m (ideal for fire growth modelling). The purpose of this dataset is to characterize Canadian forests into Fuel Types for use in various applications, including wildland fire management, research, fuel management, and more. This layer is primarily developed to support national scale applications and uses but can be utilized for localized landbases and adapted as required. This data represents the most up-to-date national product and is updated annually prior to the start of the fire season to incorporate burned area and additional data from the previous year. This data will be updated annually and published online by April 30th of each year.Note: In this product Slash fuel types (S-1, S-2, and S-3) are not represented. Conifer Plantation (C-6) is not represented. Raster Grid Value 13 represents vegetated fuels without an effective match to an existing FBP Fuel Type under this ruleset. Grid Value 11 (corresponding to D-1 Leafless Aspen) is assumed to represent true Deciduous fuels as described in the FBP system.
