Sites Registry (Open Government Licence)
This dataset is a subset of the Sites Registry dataset. The Sites Registry is a collection of locations that are important to government carrying out its business, including sharing information with citizens. Most locations have civic addresses and are government offices or facilities, e.g. hospitals, schools, post-secondary institutions, court houses, tourism centres. It is comprised of all sites licensed under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia. For more information see the [Sites Registry](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/5476ee87-0f59-4614-abf0-e653b4702aeb) catalogue record.
Aggregate Site Authorized
This dataset represents the locations of licenced and permitted pits and quarries regulated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry under the Aggregate Resources Act, R.S.O. 1990. Aggregate site data has been divided into active and inactive sites. Active sites may be further subdivided into partial surrenders. In partial surrenders, defined areas of a site are inactive while the rest of the site remains active. The data includes: * site location and size * licensee name * approval type (licence or permit) * operation type (pit or quarry) * maximum annual tonnage limit * the MNRF district responsible for the site Use our interactive [pits and quarries map](https://www.ontario.ca/page/find-pits-and-quarries) to find active sites. This data does not include [aggregate sites regulated by the Ministry of Transportation](https://data.ontario.ca/dataset/ministry-of-transportation-aggregate-sites).
National Inventory of Orphaned and Abandoned Mines
This database aggregates basic information on orphaned and abandoned mine sites from participating Canadian jurisdictions, including their name, location, jurisdiciton, and the commodity that was mined. It was originally created in 2012 through the National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Initiative and has undergone several updates since that time. Data on sites in each jurisdiction is owned and maintained by that jurisdiction. The database includes links to the corresponding records in that jursidiction. While the database includes common informaiton about all sites, there may be discrepancies in the types of data provided about sites in different jurisdictions and data from some jurisdictions may be updated more frequently than others.
Forest Tenure Communication Sites
This is a spatial layer showing Ministry of Forests Radio Communication Sites. Communication Sites are physical land locations containing structures and equipment which provide two or one-way voice and or data wireless communications to field staff or for operational activities
Recreation Sites Subset - Information Purposes Only
This data set contains a small sub-set of the WHSE_FOREST_TENURE.FTEN_RECREATION_POLY_SVW layer, in point form, with minimal attribution for the purpose of displaying a select set of high value recreation sites. For access to complete listing of Forest Recreation sites please use [Recreation Polygons WHSE_FOREST_TENURE.FTEN_RECREATION_POLY_SVW](http://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/263338a7-93ee-49c1-83e8-13f0bde70833)
Capelin - Important Sites - FHAMIS
Important sites: reproduction, feeding and concentration area. Data extracted from the Fish Habitat Management Information System (FHAMIS) according to a literature review of documents produced between 1976 and 1999.

Waste Management Site
This new data class brings over data from the Waste Management Information System (WMIS), which is a Microsoft Access based database used by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to track Waste Management Sites. This was married with the spatial data from Waste Disposal Sites where possible Different Waste Disposal Site types collected by the Ministry of Natural Resources include: * Compost Disposal * Hazardous Waste Disposal * Household Waste Disposal * Industrial Waste Disposal * Septic Drying Bed * Septic Field * Sewage Disposal * Tile Bed * Transfer Station This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Guidance on sampling effort to monitor mesozooplankton communities at Canadian bivalve aquaculture sites using an optical imaging system
As part of the development of a nationally-consistent sampling design within the Aquaculture Monitoring Program (AMP), this data reports mesozooplankton assemblages observed at nine coastal shellfish aquaculture sites, located across four DFO regions, with sampling across months, tide phases, and sampling locations. In most sites, strong spatial effects were observed, while tide effects were generally less important for structuring the mesozooplankton communities. Seasonality emerged as an essential factor to design an efficient monitoring program. This dataset represents the first large-scale Canadian coastal study using imaging technology for plankton taxonomic Identification.Cite this data as: Finnis, S., Guyondet, T., McKindsey, C.W., Arseneau, J., Barrell, J., Duhaime, J., Filgueira, R., Gallardi, D., Gaspard, D., Gibb, O., Goodwin, C., Hua, K., Macdonald, T., Milne, R., Lacoursière-Roussel, A. 2023. Wildlife values site
The wildlife values area and site datasets represent the consolidation of 13 wildlife data classes collected by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The data estimates locations used by wildlife for various reasons, including: * breeding * calving and fawning * denning * feeding * staging * nesting * wintering * general habitat areas * nurseries * travel corridors Locations are represented as points (site) or polygons (area) and may be related to a specific species or described more generally. Wildlife values data is most often used to support policy and legislation associated with the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. The data may also be used to inform a wide range of resource management activities and decisions. There are additional sensitive features related to provincially tracked species and species at risk that are not available as part of the open data package. Sensitive features are subject to licensing and approvals and may be requested by contacting [geospatial@ontario.ca](geospatial@ontario.ca).
