Spruces (Genus Picea) in Canada 2006
Canada's National Forest Inventory (NFI) sampling program is designed to support reporting on forests at the national scale. On the other hand, continuous maps of forest attributes are required to support strategic analyses of regional policy and management issues. We have therefore produced maps covering 4.03 × 106 km2 of inventoried forest area for the 2001 base year using standardised observations from the NFI photo plots (PP) as reference data. We used the k nearest neighbours (kNN) method with 26 geospatial data layers including MODIS spectral data and climatic and topographic variables to produce maps of 127 forest attributes at a 250 × 250 m resolution. The stand-level attributes include land cover, structure, and tree species relative abundance. In this article, we report only on total live aboveground tree biomass, with all other attributes covered in the supplementary data (http://nrcresearchpress.com/doi/suppl/10.1139/cjfr-2013-0401). In general, deviations in predicted pixel-level values from those in a PP validation set are greater in mountainous regions and in areas with either low biomass or sparse PP sampling. Predicted pixel-level values are overestimated at small observed values and underestimated at large ones. Accuracy measures are improved through the spatial aggregation of pixels to 1 km2 and beyond. Overall, these new products provide unique baseline information for strategic-level analyses of forests (https://nfi.nfis.org)Collection:- **[Canada's National Forest Inventory (NFI) 2006](https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/e2fadaeb-3106-4111-9d1c-f9791d83fbf4)**

Beaufort Sea Marine Fishes Project (BSMFP) 2013 - Sampling Stations
From August 2nd to September 9th, 2013, Fisheries and Oceans Canada conducted a baseline survey of marine fishes and their habitats on the Canadian Beaufort Shelf and slope. Sampling was conducted from the F/V Frosti at 64 stations along ten transects. Standardized sampling was conducted on the transects at pre-determined depth stations (20-40, 75, 200, 350, 500, 750, and 1000 m) using a variety of sampling equipment including benthic fishing trawls, plankton nets, sediment cores, and CTD and water sample profiles. A specialized CTD probe (UCTD) was deployed at an additional 72 locations while the ship was underway.Presented here is the information on the sampling locations, and the sampling gear deployed at each station.
Beaufort Sea Marine Fishes Project (BSMFP) 2012 - Sampling Stations
From August 5th to September 3rd, 2012, Fisheries and Oceans Canada conducted a baseline survey of marine fishes and their habitats on the Canadian Beaufort Shelf and slope. Sampling was conducted from the F/V Frosti at 28 stations along four transects. Standardized sampling was conducted at pre-determined depth stations (20-40, 75, 200, 350, 500, 750, and 1000 m) using a variety of sampling equipment including benthic fishing trawls, plankton nets, sediment cores, and CTD and water sample profiles. A specialized CTD probe (UCTD) was deployed at an additional 30 locations while the ship was underway. Presented here is the information on the sampling locations, and the sampling gear deployed at each station.

Electrofishing Data from Nova Scotian Rivers (SFA 18A, 18B)
PURPOSE:To track juvenile Atlantic salmon densities.DESCRIPTION:Indices of freshwater production are derived annually from electrofishing surveys in the rivers of Nova Scotia flowing into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Fixed site sampling for juvenile salmon has been conducted most consistently since the mid-1980s for these rivers. Juvenile salmon abundances at sites, in terms of number of fish per habitat area sampled by age or size group (densities), are obtained using successive removal sampling or catch per unit effort sampling calibrated to densities. Sampling intensities vary among years and among rivers. PARAMETERS COLLECTED:distribution (ecological); species counts (ecological); point (spatial)USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Electrofishing Data from the Restigouche River System, New Brunswick (SFA15)
PURPOSE:To monitor juvenile Atlantic salmon densities over time.DESCRIPTION:Indices of freshwater production for Atlantic salmon are derived annually from electrofishing surveys in the Restigouche River system of New Brunswick. Fixed-site sampling has been conducted consistently in the Restigouche system since the early 1970s. Juvenile Atlantic salmon abundances at sites, divided by age or size group and reported in terms of number of fish per habitat area sampled (density), are obtained using successive removal sampling or catch per unit effort sampling (which is calibrated using successive removal sampling data). Sampling intensities vary among years and among tributaries. This dataset comprises raw data on all fish captured and effort invested in the course of monitoring juvenile Atlantic salmon in the Restigouche watershed, New Brunswick, from 1972 to 2020. Sampling was focused on habitat suitable for Atlantic salmon, and capture of any other species was incidental. PARAMETERS COLLECTED:Distribution (ecological); species counts (ecological); fish lengths (biological); fish weights (biological); point (spatial).USE LIMITATION:To ensure scientific integrity and appropriate use of the data, we would encourage you to contact the data custodian.
Electrofishing Data from Southeast New Brunswick (SFA 16B)
PURPOSE:To monitor juvenile Atlantic salmon densities over time.DESCRIPTION:Indices of freshwater production are derived annually from electrofishing surveys in Southeast New Brunswick. Juvenile Atlantic salmon abundances at sites, divided by age or size group and reported in terms of number of fish per habitat area sampled (density), are obtained using successive removal sampling or catch per unit effort sampling (which is calibrated using successive removal sampling data). Sampling intensities vary among years and among rivers. This dataset comprises raw data on all fish captured and effort invested in the course of monitoring juvenile Atlantic salmon in Southeast, New Brunswick, from 1974 to 2024.

Phytoplankton pigments in the Strait of Georgia and inland waters
Phytoplankton pigments, determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) are measured seasonally along a 20-station transect in the Juan de Fuca / Strait of Georgia Basin. Sampling was initiated in 2004, discontinued in 2012 and restarted in 2015. In addition, occasional sampling is carried out at several locations and times in inland waters. For data inquiries please contact: Angelica Pena for data from 2004 to 2015 and Nina Nemcek for data from 2015 to present.
