Oil and Gas Seismic Lines
Data for seismic surveys prior to 1999 were obtained from National Energy Board (NEB) as points data (end points and bends) in Excel file format with basic information only. The NEB dataset was not comprehensive. Seismic lines coordinates' data for some of the earliest surveys recorded during 1960s and 1970s were recorded in NAD27 and contained location errors. In addition some data were not converted to NAD83 datum currently in use therefore resulting in even larger error. Starting at 1999 seismic lines location data are provided to the Government of Yukon by exploration companies as part of their statutory reporting requirements.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Earthquakes in Canada 2000-2009
Historical earthquakes recorded by Earthquakes Canada. This dataset contains the earthquakes recorded in decade 2000. However, the National Earthquake Database makes available seismic bulletin data from 1985 and onward. For a complete listing of current and historical earthquakes, visit https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/.
Earthquakes in Canada 1980-1989
Historical earthquakes recorded by Earthquakes Canada. This dataset contains the earthquakes recorded in decade 1980. However, the National Earthquake Database makes available seismic bulletin data from 1985 and onward. For a complete listing of current and historical earthquakes, visit https://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/.
High resolution seismic surveys
High resolution 2D/3D seismic surveys performed for the Geological Survey of Canada to advance the use of seismic methods in hard rock environments.
Mining camp vertical seismic profile studies
Vertical seismic profiling (VSP) surveys done by the Geological Survey of Canada for research into downhole seismic imaging techniques for mineral exploration.
Canada's National Earthquake Scenario Catalogue - Val-de-bois - Magnitude 7.5
Ottawa planning scenario using the 2010 Val-de-bois, QC earthquake hypocentre and fault plane geometry from Ma & Motazedian, 2012 and Atkinson & Assatourians, 2010. This scenario uses a larger magnitude event than those that have been observed to date for that location, within bounds of the national seismic hazard model. Maximum magnitude of 7.95 is obtained from CanSHM6 for GATINEAU region.
BC Offshore Oil and Gas Seismic Profiles
The locations of coastal British Columbia offshore oil and gas seismic profiles. There has not been any seismic done in the Queen Charlotte Basin since 1972. There currently exists a moreatorium on Oil and Gas exploration so there are no plans to do any more until the moratorium is lifter. The seismic lines in this data layer are surveys which were done over 45 years ago, in single passes. The attribute data for the polylines refers to interpretations done in 1988, which are still accessible via the web-links.
The Probabilistic Seismic Risk Model for Canada
The Probabilistic Seismic Risk Model for Canada introduces a structured framework of indicators that profile the physical, social and economic dimensions of earthquake risk at the neighborhood scale.Risk metrics include measures of building damage and collapse probability, life safety and expected economic losses. An overall risk rating is also provided which aggregates the physical, social, and economic dimensions of risk. The probabilistic assessment reports information based on both the ‘total’ impact as well as the ‘percentage’ impact. It considers only damage to buildings, and their inhabitants, from earthquake shaking, and therefore does not include damage to critical infrastructure or vehicles. Losses from secondary hazards, such as aftershocks, liquefaction, landslides, or fire following are also not currently included. The information is provided at the approximate scale of Census dissemination areas, and is intended to support planning and emergency management activities in earthquake prone regions. This project is run by the Geological Survey of Canada's Public Safety Geoscience Program. Oil and Gas Pipeline Segment Permits
Pipeline centre-lines associated with oil and gas pipeline activity and falling within the area representing the pipeline right of way. This dataset contains line features collected on or after July 11, 2016 for approved pipeline centre-line locations. The dataset is updated nightly.
Forest Road Segment Tenure
Uniquely identifies a 75 metre wide road tenure. This layer uses the centre line from the application and is buffered 37.5 metres either side. This layer does not represent the actual road on the ground. It represents where the application area is
