Polyline feature layer of winter trails in Manitoba provincial parks.This feature layer contains polylines showing locations of winter trails in Manitoba provincial parks. Winter trails are those trails designated for certain winter activities, such as cross-country skiing, skijoring, skate-skiing, fat biking, and dog sledding. Most of these trails are groomed by Manitoba Parks staff throughout the season. This layer is used in the interactive map Manitoba Parks - Winter Activity Trails Map and the web app Manitoba Parks - Winter Trails and Recreation Areas. This data contains location information for 1 of Ontario’s snow monitoring networks: * Surface Water Monitoring Centre (SWMC) Snow course data is collected by: * conservation authorities * Ontario Power Generation * Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) districts Data is collected twice a month from November 15 until May 15. The Surface Water Monitoring Centre uses this data to assess: * current snow cover * frozen ground conditions * snowpack * potential snowmelt * contributions to streamflow The snow data is located in a corporate water and climate database. This data helps MNR and conservation authorities assess the potential for flood at the local and provincial scale.

This dataset identifies locations of wilderness and recreation tourism activities. Activities are: fishing, biking, hiking, snowmobiling, rafting, boating, flight seeing, dog mushing, driving tour, off-road vehicle, cross country skiing, canoeing, wildlife viewing. The locations were collected through interviews. Locations and areas were indicated on paper maps and transferred to digital. This is not a complete or up to date dataset. The Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation (CCMEO) has created a 30m resolution radar mosaic of Canada's landmass from the RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM). This point feature indicates the location of photo centre points during data capture for the Whitehorse Forest Inventory. The field work for the inventory was carried out during the winter of 2004/2005 with the project delivered by the contractor in October 2005. Delineation was based on 1:10,000 black and white photography acquired by the City of Whitehorse in 2001.
