Village
The Village dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Villages in Alberta. Village is a municipality type defined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act. The formation of a Village can occur when a majority of the buildings are on parcels of land smaller than 1850 square meters and there is a population of 300 or more.
Inuit Regions (Inuit Nunangat)
The Inuit Regions, also known as the Inuit Nunangat, dataset contains the geographical boundaries of the 4 Inuit Regions in Canada: Inuvialuit, Nunavut, Nunavik and Nunatsiavut. The boundaries, land only, have been drawn as per information defined in each land claim agreement. The Inuit Regions (Inuit Nunangat) geographical boundaries are approximate and should be used for illustration purposes only. This dataset is Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) official source for Inuit regions on maps.
Manitoba Highway Inventory 2017
An accurate depiction of road structure construction history of the Highway Network in Manitoba.Manitoba Infrastructure --> Highway Engineering--> Highway Planning and Design (HPD) manages the Highway Inventory System (HIS). This system tracks road structure and construction history of Manitoba's Road Network. Published annually, this layer aids provincial engineers in planning and managing construction projects, both present and future. The department’s linear referencing system (LRS) uses control sections as a linear referencing method (LRM). These control section are further divided into subsections. It is on these subsections that road structure and construction history are tracked in the highway inventory system database. Please note that this feature layer primarily contains only the roads Manitoba Infrastructure is responsible for, i.e. Provincial Trunk Highways, Provincial Roads and Access Roads. It does not include municipal mile or grid roads. However, you may also see Earth Roads (under construction) or Other roads (such as those passing through national parks and are federal responsibility). A newer version of this data is available: Manitoba Highway Inventory 2018. Specialized Municipality
The Specialized Municipality dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Specialized Municipalities in Alberta. Specialized Municipality is a type of municipality which does not meet the needs of the residents of a proposed municipality such as City, Municipal District, Town or Village. but formed to provide for a form of local government that will provide for the orderly development of the municipality or by any other reason that is appropriate in the circumstances. Specialized municipalities are unique municipal structures that can be formed without resorting to special Acts of the legislature. Often, specialized municipalities allow urban and rural communities to coexist in a single municipal government.
HIGHWAY OFFICIAL
HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL provides the LRS based geospatial information of Provincial and National Highways System in Saskatchewan. It is one of the base layer used to create "Roadseg" layer for Saskatchewan Upgraded Road Network (SURN) and National Road Network (NRN). This data layer has been created for mainly MHI data users, that require relatively up-to-date and accurate description of all Highways in the Province of Saskatchewan.HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL consists of provincial and national highways system in Saskatchewan maintained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure (MHI). This data layer is based on the Linear Reference System (LRS) concepts. KM_FROM and KM_TO fields store the start point and the end point at Kilometer information of the line segment. Unique Identifiers (RoadName & NID) are associated with each line segment. The "RoadName" field carry the unique highway name for each line segment in a control section. "NID" National Identifier is used to manage the updates between data producer and data users. HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL data layer serves as a foundation for SURN, NRN, SASK911, CAR, SGI-iHaul and other applications.
Saskatchewan COVID-19 Boundaries
Boundaries developed for use when aggregating cases and reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic in Saskatchewan. The province of Saskatchewan has been divided into six distinct areas for use in reporting the infection rates of COVID-19 during the 2020 outbreak of the virus. This dataset is 'Deprecated'. Please use updated source here.
ROADSEG
ROADSEG is one of the important layers for Saskatchewan Upgraded Road Network (SURN) and National Road Network (NRN). The ROADSEG is created to serve a diverse group of clients that require relatively up-to-date and accurate description of Saskatchewan Road Network.ROADSEG contains all the features from HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL, RURAL_ROAD_OFFICIAL and OTHER_ROAD_OFFICIAL. ROADSEG is the Saskatchewan road network data that is being used by NRCAN as National Road Network (NRN). ROADSED data layer has been generated by merging HIGHWAY_OFFICIAL, RURAL_ROAD_OFFICIAL and OTHER_ROAD_OFFICIAL. Unique Identifiers (NID) is associated with each line segment. "NID" National Identifier is used to manage the updates between data producer and data users. ROADSEG data layer is one of the important data table for SURN, NRN, SASK911, CAR, SGI-iHaul and other applications.
Town
The Town dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Towns in Alberta. Town is a municipality type defined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act. The formation of a Town can occur if a majority of buildings are on parcels of land smaller than 1850 square metres and there is a population of 1000 or more.
BLKPASSAGE OFFICIAL
BLKPASSAGE_OFFICIAL is one of the important layers for Saskatchewan Upgraded Road Network (SURN) and National Road Network (NRN). The BLKPASSAGE_OFFICIAL provides the information of road blocked passage to clients that require accurate, relatively up-to-date and detailed description of Saskatchewan Road Network.BLKPASSAGE_OFFICIAL, This layer contains data for a structure indicating a physical barrier on a Road Element built to prevent or control further access. BLKPASSAGE_OFFICIAL contains all the blocked passage points in the Saskatchewan. BLKPASSAGE_OFFICIAL is an important part of the Saskatchewan road network dataset. Each point geometry " BLKPASSAGE" has unique Identifiers (NID). "NID" National Identifier is used to manage the updates between data producer and data users.
Settlement
The Settlement dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Settlements in Alberta. A settlement is an area of land that was surveyed prior to the Third System of Survey and does not normally follow the ATS grid.
