Environmental Monitoring Data System (EnMoDS) Spatial Sampling Locations
Environmental monitoring locations from the [Environmental Monitoring Data System (EnMoDS)](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content?id=BDE7F9F4BC4546629582CEBC4ABC8101). These point location records show where discrete environmental monitoring may have taken place. Locations are generally in naturalized settings such as rivers and lakes, but also include anthropogenic features like wells and industrial facilities including waste discharges. Key attribute fields for filtering include, location ID, location type, location group, observation count, and most recent field visit date. Observational results for each location can be accessed from [EnMoDS Web Reporting](https://enmodswr.nrs.gov.bc.ca/) or from [EnMoDS Results Data Records](https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/83a585fe-effb-48bd-8a03-d35db4eeb1bb). Information regarding changes from the Environmental Monitoring System along with other resources are available on the EnMoDS website listed in related links below.
Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is publishing a database with environmental monitoring results collected as part of the Eastern Athabasca Regional Monitoring Program. The samples are collected near communities located in northern Saskatchewan.
Regional Information and Monitoring Network
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) are publishing databases with effluent and environmental monitoring results from nuclear facilities located along the Ottawa River watershed as part of the Regional Information and Monitoring Network (RIMNet) for the Ottawa River Watershed Basin initiative. The facilities included are Chalk River Laboratories, Nordion Canada Inc., SRB Technologies Canada Inc., and Nuclear Power Demonstration Waste Facility. The initiative was developed to address questions and concerns expressed by members of the public and Indigenous Nations and communities about the availability of publicly accessible environmental monitoring data in the Ottawa River Watershed Basin. More information about the initiative is available here: https://www.cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca/eng/resources/environmental-protection/rimnet/ This dataset contains effluent and environmental monitoring results from Chalk River Laboratories, Nordion Canada Inc., SRB Technologies Canada Inc., and Nuclear Power Demonstration Waste Facility. All of the effluent and emissions releases to the environment in this dataset are below the CNSC licensed release limits. All of the environmental monitoring results in this dataset are below environmental quality guidelines. More information about CNSC staff’s assessment of these facilities are found in CNSC staff’s regulatory oversight reports: https://www.cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca/eng/resources/publications/reports/regulatory-oversight-reports/
Independent Environmental Monitoring Program
The objective of the Independent Environmental Monitoring Program (IEMP) is to build Indigenous and public trust in the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's (CNSC) regulation of the nuclear industry, via an independent, technical and accessible environmental sampling program around nuclear facilities, while using CNSC resources effectively and efficiently. For more information: www.Nuclearsafety.gc.ca/IEMP
Area Based Management Plans
Area Based Management Plans (ABMP) are designated areas for the purposes of environmental protection. It must consider the impact of point and non-point source of waste, cumulative impact of the wastes, environmental management objectives and outcomes for the designated area, and ongoing monitoring and reporting.
Historical Ambient Air Quality Validated - Regina
The Ministry of Environment operates a network of continuous ambient air monitoring stations to measure the concentration of air pollutants across Saskatchewan. This is considered validated data that has undergone quality control and quality assurance. For best results download the entire dataset without filtering as a CSV. ‘Date and time’ as displayed is your local time. However, downloaded data is in UTC for ‘Date and time’. Any values of -9999, -999, or 9980 are invalid data.Download zip file. The Ministry of Environment operates a network of continuous ambient air monitoring stations. These stations are part of the National Air Pollution Surveillance (NAPS) network. Continuous ambient air monitoring stations measure the concentration of air pollutants across Saskatchewan. The data is used to: • track and report on progress for achieving air quality objectives • measure representative pollutant concentrations and determine long-term trends and • provide air quality information to the public Air pollutants typically come from various industrial activity and natural sources, such as mining, oil and gas, agriculture, forest fires, electrical generation, and the transportation sector. Disclaimer: Hourly data from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment monitoring stations is validated and updated every quarter. This is the most up-to-date and accurate information available. A final annual review occurs in spring where data are subject to change. For more information please visit the ministry's Air Quality Monitoring page or contact the Ministry of Environment Inquiry Centre: centre.inquiry@gov.sk.ca 1-800-567-4224
Geothermal Boreholes
The BORHOLES layer represents the compilation of available data from various boreholes throughout the Yukon and near the Yukon border. This data set includes oil and gas exploration wells, mineral exploration boreholes, water supply wells and environmental monitoring well. The data points include information on the borehole location, purpose, status, depth, temperature data, water flow and chemistry data where available along with references where further detailed information may be available.
Canadian Land Data Assimilation System in the National Surface and River Prediction System [experimental]
CaLDAS-NSRPS was installed as an experimental system within the National Surface and River Prediction System (NSRPS) at Environment and Climate Change Canada's (ECCC) Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction (CCMEP) in July 2019. CaLDAS-NSRPS is a continuous offline land-surface assimilation system, which provides analyses of the land surface every 3 h over the domain of the High-Resolution Deterministic Prediction System (HRDPS) at a 2.5 km grid spacing. The emphasis in CaLDAS-NSRPS is to focus upon the assimilation of satellite based remote sensing observations to provide the optimal initial conditions for the predictive components of the NSRPS, the High Resolution Deterministic/Ensemble Land Surface Prediction System (HRDLPS/HRELPS) and the Deterministic/Ensemble Hydrological Prediction Systems (DHPS/EHPS). CaLDAS-NSRPS is launched 4 times per day, at 0000, 0600, 1200, and 1800 UTC.
