Territorial forest subdivisions (STF)
This product integrates all the boundaries of public forest territory: according to the Law on Sustainable Forest Land Management (LADTF), the public forest territory consists of management units (UA), local forests (FP), residual forest territories (TFR), residual forest territories (TFR), forests for education and research (FR), forests for education and research (FER), forests for education and research (FER), the Duchesnay forest station, experimental forests (FE), exceptional forest ecosystems (FR), exceptional forest ecosystems (FR), EFE), biological refuges. Depending on the type of territory, rights may be granted under specific conditions and/or excluded from all forest management activities. The mapping of these public forest territories is necessary for several MRNF mandates including the determination of forest opportunities, the allocation of wood volumes and finally the planning and monitoring of forest management works. In addition to these territories and rights granted, there are forest administrative boundaries that are in force at the MRNF, such as private forest development agencies, pricing zones, management units (UGs), territories of analysis of the Chief Forester (FEC), etc. This product is maintained in the MRNF STF system and several official entities of the Ministry have their origins in it. For more information on how to do this, please consult the lexicon that accompanies the datasets.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Forest Management Units
An administrative unit of forest land designated by the Minister, as authorized under Section 14(1) of the Forests Act.
Forest Elevation Covariance (2022)
This dataset provides wall-to-wall maps of forest structure across Canada's 650 million hectare forested ecosystems for the year 2022, generated at a spatial resolution of 30 m.It is developed within the framework of Canada’s National Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring System (NTEMS). Structure estimates include key attributes such as canopy height, canopy cover, and aboveground biomass, derived using a combination of airborne lidar and Landsat-based spectral composites. Structure models were trained using the - lidar-plot framework - (Wulder et al. 2012), which integrates co-located airborne lidar data and ground plot measurements with Landsat time-series composites (Hermosilla et al. 2016). A Nearest Neighbour imputation approach was applied to estimate structural attributes across the full extent of Canada's forested area. These nationally consistent products are intended to support strategic-level forest monitoring and assessment and are not designed for operational forest management. For further details on the methods, accuracy assessment, and source data, see Matasci et al. (2018).Matasci, G., Hermosilla, T., Wulder, M.A., White, J.C., Coops, N.C., Hobart, G.W., Bolton, D.K., Tompalski, P., Bater, C.W., 2018. Tesselle forest information system (SIFORT)
The Tesselle Forest Information System (SIFORT) is a system that was created in order to meet various needs for analysis and knowledge data on Quebec territory. SIFORT is a database composed of polygonal units of 15 seconds (latitude) by 15 seconds (longitude), whose average area is approximately 14 hectares. Information from the tesserla is obtained by assigning the forest data to the centroid of the tesserla. Thus, for each of the tesserae, we find information such as the type of cover, the type of disturbance of origin, the year of the disturbance, the species, the density, etc. This system integrates forest information from the various forest inventories (first, second, third, third, third, third, third, fourth and fifth inventories, when available) and offers the advantage of constituting a fixed analysis grid in space. Making it possible to relate the forest composition of the territory to the various natural disturbances (e.g. fire and insects) and forest interventions, SIFORT makes it possible to feed various statistical and temporal studies and analyses whose objective is to ensure the sustainable management of Quebec's forest territory.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Landscape Management Units - 250k
The purpose of this feature class is to identify the forest resources management zones within a Forest Resources Management Plan, as per subsection 2(h) of the Forest Resources Regulation. These sub-divided smaller forest planning areas or landscape units are based on watershed boundaries and modified by local access and development patterns. They usually contain similar management concerns and forest types. The units form the boundaries for detailed information gathering, monitoring and planning.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Special Management Areas
Special Management Areas are part of a network of protected lands in Saskatchewan. The following dataset accurately defines SMA land areas in Saskatchewan that have various levels of developmental restrictions. The Minister of Environment wishes to identify “Special Management Areas” to be managed for the following purposes:a) the protection, enhancement or restoration of natural ecosystems, wildlife habitat or habitat of rare, threatened or endangered plant or animal species;b) the retention of significant botanical, zoological, morphological, historical archaeological features respecting the land;c) the conservation of soil, air and water quality; and the opportunity for scientific research and study related to the ecological health of the area.
Manitoba Forest Management Units – Version 4
This feature class represents Manitoba's Forest Management Unit (FMU) boundaries.Forest Management Units (FMU's) define a forested area with common forest conditions that are managed in a similar manner. Forest Sections are comprised of FMU's. Forest inventories within Forest Management Units are analysed to determine allowable harvest limits of softwood and hardwood tree species within each Forest Management Unit. Version 3: The southern portion of FMU 67 within the Highrock Forest Section has been adjusted to align with base features captured in 2009. Additionally, an 11 hectare portion of the Saskatchewan River Forest Section (FMU 59) has been added to the Highrock Forest Section. Version 4: The northern portion of FMU 68 along the Rail Haul within the Highrock Forest Section has been adjust so that the boundary falls within water only. Additionally, version 4 splits the 'White Zone' forest section (FMU 76) by ecozones, creating FMU 76 (Taiga Shield), FMU 77 (Southern Arctic), FMU 78 (Hudson Plain) and FMU 79 (Boreal Shield). Version 4 is dated February 8, 2013. Fields Included: OBJECTID: Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated . MANAGEMENT_UNIT_NUMBER : Management Unit (MU) number . S ECTION : Forest section number . SECTION_NAME : Forest section name .
