Upper Smoky Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data
Sub-regional plans support working landscapes that provide economic opportunities and maintain healthy landscapes by outlining management approaches and requirements for development and human footprint restoration. These plans enable public lands to support the interests of all Albertans, including Indigenous peoples, for the present and into the future. The Upper Smoky Sub-Regional Plan Spatial Data collection contains spatial data that can be used for planning as described within the Upper Smoky Sub-regional Plan (2025) and has been developed by Lands Planning, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, Government of Alberta. The following datasets are available: Subregional Plan Boundaries, Management Zones, Conservation Areas, Watercourse Management Areas, Riparian Areas along the Wapiti and Smoky Rivers, Public Land Use Zone, and Harvest Timing Sequences E10 and G16.
Surficial Geology of the Little Smoky Area (NTS 83K/NW) (GIS data, polygon features)
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Little Smoky area (NTS 83K/NW) (GIS data, polygon features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the polygon features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 564, Surficial Geology of the Little Smoky Area (NTS 83K/NW).
Surficial Geology of the Little Smoky Area (NTS 83K/NW) (GIS data, line features)
This GIS dataset depicts the surficial geology of the Little Smoky area (NTS 83K/NW) (GIS data, line features). The data were created in geodatabase format and output for public distribution in shapefile format. These data comprise the line features of Alberta Geological Survey Map 564, Surficial Geology of the Little Smoky Area (NTS 83K/NW).
Lower-tier and single-tier municipal boundaries
A single-tier municipality doesn't form part of an upper-tier municipality and assumes all municipal responsibilities set out under the Municipal Act and other Provincial legislation. A lower-tier municipality forms part of an upper-tier municipality. Municipal responsibilities set out under the Municipal Act and other Provincial legislation are split between the upper-tier and lower-tier municipalities.
Smoky Lake, Alberta - Bathymetry (GIS data, line features)
All available bathymetry and related information for Smoky Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.
Municipal boundaries
Contains 2 datasets: * lower and single tier municipalities * upper tier municipalities and districts.
Upper Upper Mannville (and Equivalents) Paleogeography (GIS data, polygon features)
The Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin was designed primarily as a reference volume documenting the subsurface geology of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. This GIS dataset is one of a collection of shapefiles representing part of Chapter 17 of the Atlas, Paleographic Evolution of the Western Canada Foreland Basin, Figure 7, Upper Upper Mannville (and Equivalents) Paleogeography. Shapefiles were produced from archived digital files created by the Alberta Geological Survey in the mid-1990s, and edited in 2005-06 to correct, attribute and consolidate the data into single files by feature type and by figure.

Upper Shaunavon Isopach
These structure, isopach and zero edge files are part of a series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project. The series of stratigraphic framework maps for the Saskatchewan Phanerozoic Fluids and Petroleum Systems (SPFPS) project have been produced using 2 km equi-spaced modified grids generated from Golden Software’s Surfer 9 kriging algorithm. The dataset used to produce each of the maps in this series was created using data from several projects completed by the Ministry (Christopher, 2003; Saskatchewan Industry and Resources et al., 2004; Kreis et al., 2004; Marsh and Heinemann, 2006; Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources et al., 2007; Heinemann and Marsh, 2009); these data were validated and edited as required to facilitate correlations between the various regional projects. In addition, to minimize edge effects during contouring, the senior author also generated stratigraphic data from wells in adjacent jurisdictions.
Caribou Sub-Regional Plan Boundaries
Sub-regional plans are Alberta's approach to supporting caribou recovery through careful land-use planning which recognizes and maintains working landscapes supporting a variety of social, economic and traditional land-use. The Caribou Sub-Regional Plan Boundaries dataset contains boundaries delineating the extent of sub-regional planning areas across northern Alberta. Sub-regional planning areas include those for the approved Bistcho Lake and Cold Lake sub-regional plans, as well as the following upcoming planning areas: Upper Smoky, Wandering River, Berland, Chinchaga, Slave Lake, Wabasca, Richardson, Red Earth, and Caribou Mountains.
