Petroleum wells
The locations of wells that have been drilled for oil production, gas or salt resources or for underground storage of hydrocarbons. This data can be used for land use and resource management, emergency management, as well as compliance and enforcement in the petroleum industry. The Data is collected on an on-going basis and maintained in the Ontario Petroleum Data System (OPDS).
Lithology of Ground Water Wells
Point features showing the locations of groundwater wells which have lithology recorded. Each record in the dataset represents a lithology interval. Because each water well often has multiple lithology layers recorded, there will often be multiple points overlapped at each well location. For the locations of all water wells in BC (without lithology), please see: https://catalogue.data.gov.bc.ca/dataset/e4731a85-ffca-4112-8caf-cb0a96905778 > NOTE: When choosing to download this GIS dataset below, there can be errors when trying to download the entire province. The large file size is a problem for the default file format (shapefile). > If you need to download the entire province, please choose a different file format (e.g. ESRI File Geodatabase). > If you need to download in shapefile format, please use an area of interest (AOI).
National Inventory of Orphaned and Abandoned Mines
This database aggregates basic information on orphaned and abandoned mine sites from participating Canadian jurisdictions, including their name, location, jurisdiciton, and the commodity that was mined. It was originally created in 2012 through the National Orphaned/Abandoned Mines Initiative and has undergone several updates since that time. Data on sites in each jurisdiction is owned and maintained by that jurisdiction. The database includes links to the corresponding records in that jursidiction. While the database includes common informaiton about all sites, there may be discrepancies in the types of data provided about sites in different jurisdictions and data from some jurisdictions may be updated more frequently than others.
Drinking Water Sources - Intakes/Wellheads
Point features showing the location of intakes and/or wellheads for drinking water systems. A drinking water system is any domestic system servicing anything other than a single-family dwelling, as defined in the Drinking Water Protection Act. These locations are updated as more information is received and is therefore continually being updated and may or may not match the corresponding Point of Diversion locations available through the Water Rights dataset and application. This is one of three Drinking Water Sources datasets (along with the DWS - Source Areas polygons dataset, and DWS - Protection Zones polygons dataset). Note: the polygons all have unique polygon IDs used to relate them to these points.
Water wells
The well registry is a collection of records, including drilling logs and report documents, maintained by Yukon Government. These records provide information on the well construction details and subsurface conditions encountered at the time of drilling. Although some information in the dataset may be edited over time, the primary purpose is to document the original drilling conditions and not to provide an updated status of the well. There is no current overarching requirement for drillers or owners to submit well logs, therefore many have been provided on a voluntary basis. Therefore, this should not be expected to be a complete list of all wells across the territory. The water well dataset contains records obtained through the domestic water well program, voluntary submissions, and regulatory processes (licenses and permits). No identifiable personal information will be used or available on the public database. For further information about privacy and the protection of your personal information contact the Departmental Privacy Officer at (867) 667-5237.Distributed from [GeoYukon](https://yukon.ca/geoyukon) by the [Government of Yukon](https://yukon.ca/maps) . Principal Mineral Areas, Producing Mines, and Oil and Gas Fields (900A)
This dataset is produced and published annually by Natural Resources Canada. It contains a variety of statistics on Canada’s mineral production, and provides the geographic locations of significant metallic, nonmetallic and coal mines, oil sands mines, selected metallurgical works, helium facilities, and oil and gas fields for the provinces and territories of Canada.Related product:- **[Top 100 Exploration Projects](https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/b64179f3-ea0f-4abb-9cc5-85432fc958a0)**
MTA - Mineral, Placer and Coal Tenure Spatial View
This is the spatial view used by Mineral Titles Online (MTO) on the mineral, placer and coal viewers. The spatial view combines the polygon information with attribute information for each title. Contains sub-surface title data in British Columbia for: - mineral claims, mining leases, mineral claim applications - placer claims, placer leases, placer claim applications - coal license applications, coal licenses, coal leases
Oil and Gas Well Surface Hole Location Applications
Applications for the surface location of a well associated with oil and gas activity. This dataset contains point features for proposed applications collected through the BC Energy Regulator's Application Management System (AMS). This dataset is updated nightly
Hydrogeological Information System (HIS)
The Hydrogeological Information System (HIS) contains the physical characteristics of wells and boreholes (location, depth, stratigraphy encountered, etc.) mainly from drilling reports transmitted by well drillers for groundwater sampling installations serving private drinking water residences. The geographic coverage corresponds to all of Quebec although most of the data are found in the south of the province. A monthly update is made.SIH data can be useful for hydrogeology professionals, the academic community and a wider audience in order to make interpretations on portions of territory, for example on the depth of the rock in a sector, or to consult more precise points of information such as the description of a specific identified well.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Natural Gas Underground Storage - North American Cooperation on Energy Information
Sub-surface facilities used for storing natural gas. The facilities are usually hollowed-out salt domes, geological reservoirs (depleted oil or gas field) or water bearing sands (called aquifers) topped by an impermeable cap rock.Mapping Resources implemented as part of the North American Cooperation on Energy Information (NACEI) between the Department of Energy of the United States of America, the Department of Natural Resources of Canada, and the Ministry of Energy of the United Mexican States. The participating Agencies and Institutions shall not be held liable for improper or incorrect use of the data described and/or contained herein. These data and related graphics, if available, are not legal documents and are not intended to be used as such.
