Macroalgae in the coastal zone of maritime Quebec
Macroalgae dominated areas with a vegetated cover above 25%, located in the coastal zone of the Estuary and the Gulf of St. Lawrence (Quebec)This dataset was designed for Environment and Climate Change Canada's (ECCC) National Environmental Emergencies Center (NEEC) for oil spill preparedness and response. The polygons of this layer were selected from the surface geodatabase of coastal ecosystems from the UQAR-MPO project Mapping coastal ecosystems of the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence. Are represented in this dataset exclusively the polygons whose plant dominance corresponds to a class of macroalgae and presenting a semi-vegetated (25-75%) or vegetated (75-100%) cover. The study area includes all of the estuarine and maritime coasts of Quebec, with the exception of certain sectors, including most of the Lower North Shore and Anticosti Island, with the exception of villages of Kegaska, la Romaine, Chevery, Blanc-Sablon and Port-Menier. Some islands off the estuary and gulf coasts are part of the region covered, such as Île d'Orléans, Isle-aux-Coudres, Île Verte and Île Bonaventure. The mapping of coastal ecosystems was carried out jointly by the Laboratory for Dynamics and Integrated Coastal Zone Management (LDGIZC) of the University of Quebec at Rimouski as part of the Coastal Resilience Project (https: //ldgizc.uqar.ca/Web/projets/projet-resilience-cotiere) funded by the MELCC; and by the Fisheries and Oceans Canada team, as part of its Integrated marine response planning (IMRP) component of the Oceans Protection Plan (OPP),with the objective of updating the Marine Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Regime of Canada. The master geodatabase of coastal ecosystems is hosted and distributed by UQAR on their SIGEC-Web mapping platform: https://ldgizc.uqar.ca/Web/sigecwebThe macroalgae characterization was mainly carried out from the photo-interpretation of RGBI aerial photos acquired by the DFO (2015-2022) and oblique helicopter photos acquired by UQAR in 2017. Data from 3155 sampling stations, conducted aboard small boats during DFO field campaigns (2017-2023) were used to detail the nature of algal communities and validate the photo-interpretation.Credits © UQAR-MPO (2025, Laboratoire de dynamique et de gestion intégrée des zones côtières, Pêches et Océans Canada)RéférenceProvencher-Nolet, L., Paquette, L., Pitre, L.D., Grégoire, B. and Desjardins, C. 2024. Special Conservation Areas
This boundary layer shows all Special Conservation Areas (SCA) in Manitoba. The purpose of this dataset is to show the boundaries of all Special Conservation Areas (SCA) in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001) under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Special Conservation Areas are designated to conserve and protect particular species and habitats throughout Manitoba. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines what activities are prohibited within each Special Conservation Area. Boundaries are drawn based on CAD files from the official Director of Surveys Plan stated in the regulation.Fields included (Alias (Field Name): Field description.)FID (FID): Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generatedName (NAME): Special Conservation Area nameD of S Plan (DofS): Director of Surveys plan numberArea_HA (AREA_HA): Area in HectaresSpecies (SPECIES): Species name
Manitoba Forest Management License Areas (FML) – Version 4
Manitoba's Forest Management Licence Area (FML) Boundaries – Version 4.The Forest Act provides for the establishment of Forest Management Licences to provide a continuous supply of timber to the forest industry. A Forest Management Licence, granted for a period of not more than 20 years, may be renewed for further periods. The Forest Management Licence describes the land upon which trees may be cut, the volume of wood that may be harvested, and other terms and conditions. There are currently three Forest Management Licences in Manitoba. Timber management and forest renewal are the responsibilities of Manitoba Conservation on Crown Forest Land outside of Forest Management Licence areas, and within Forest Management Licence areas where the wood is used by a facility other than that operated by the Forest Management Licensee. Version 4 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries incorporates minor edits made to the BDY_MB_FMU_PY feature class, ensuring coincident line work with the provincial boundary and provincial forests. Version 3 of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries includes FML-2 and FML-3. Previous boundaries associated with FML-1 and IWSAs have been removed. To update and improve the positional accuracy of Manitoba's Forest Management Licence (FML) boundaries, written descriptions of FML areas were referenced along with line work from Forest Land Inventories (FLI), Forest Resource Inventories (FRI) and Manitoba's township fabric to improve p rovincial FML boundaries. Boundary line work for all of the following feature classes were topologically checked for coincident line work: 1. BDY_MB_FMU_PY (Provincial FMUs); 2. Provincial Boundary; 3. BDY_MB_FML_PY (Provincial Forest Management Licence Areas); 4. BDY_MB_FOREST_SECTION_PY (Provincial Forest Sections); 5. Fish Pathogen Management Zone Boundary Source
The Fish Pathogen Boundary Segment layer forms the boundary of the Fish Pathogen Management Zones and is made up of segments that were taken from the Ontario Road Network. This data class was created in order to store the road name information associated with each segment that makes up the fish pathogen management zone boundary. This product requires the use of geographic information system (GIS) software.
Sport Fish Management Zones
Saskatchewan Sport Fish Management Zones as described in the fisheries regulations.Spatial dataset created to represent the provincial sport fishing management zones within Saskatchewan as described in Table 5 of the Fisheries Regulations. Saskatchewan is divided into three management zones for angling regulations. Differences in the opening and closing dates for the angling season occur between zones, with certain lakes in each zone having special regulations applied to them. Consult the Anglers’ Guide for further information on specific dates and/or limits.

Special Area
The Special Area dataset is comprised of all the polygons that represent Special Areas in Alberta. Special Area is a rural municipality type defined under the authority of the Municipal Government Act. Special Areas were established under the Special Areas Act in 1938 due to extreme hardship of the drought years of the 1930s. The Special Areas Act of 1938 has more or less remained intact although there were some amendments in 1966 and 1985. Special Area refers to a rural area in southeast Alberta.
Community Watersheds - Current
Boundaries (polygons) of areas designated as community watershed by government - that are all or part of the drainage area that is upslope of the lowest point from which water is diverted for human consumption by a licensed waterworks, if satisfied that, to protect the water that is diverted for human consumption, the area requires special management that is not otherwise provided for under this regulation or other enactment: to conserve the quality, quantity and timing of water flow; or to prevent cumulative hydrological effects that would have a material adverse effect on the water . Supercedes the '(DEPRECATED) BC Community Watersheds' dataset BC_COMMUNITY_WATERSHEDS
