Index Grid for NTS 1:250,000 scale maps

This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Note that the distribution contact is different for the general public than for Government of Alberta ministries. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset. The National Topographic System of Canada (NTS) is a national mapping reference grid defined by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) that is based on degrees of latitude and longitude. Starting at the Prime Meridian and at the equator, the 1:250 000 grid is formed by intersecting every degree of the meridians with every two degrees of parallels. Each polygon in the grid is designated with a two digit number and a single letter (Example 83H). The province of Alberta is covered by 45 complete and 17 partially complete 1:250 000 NTS blocks.

The faults/lineaments layer has been merged from the 1:250,000 scale Compilation Bedrock Geology map series.  **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. They are therefore identical and share the same refresh schedule.

Topographic maps produced by Natural Resources Canada conform to the National Topographic System (NTS) of Canada. Indexes are available in three standard scales: 1:1,000,000, 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. The area covered by a given mapsheet is determined by its latitude and longitude. 1:1,000,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of three numbers (e.g. 098). 1:250,000 mapsheets are identified by a combination of numbers, and letters ranging from A through P (e.g. 098C). Sixteen smaller segments (1 to 16) form blocks used for 1:50,000 mapping (e.g. 098C03).

This map service provides access to the 1:250 000 Scale Geology datasets shown on the GeoAtlas application.This dataset shows 1:250,000 scale Quaternary geology line work for the Province of Saskatchewan. Mapping in support of the data includes many years or field observations complied at 1:250 000 scale and integrated into this dataset. The data was created as a file geodatabase feature class and output for public distribution.  **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse. This dataset is a digital representation of Saskatchewan's Quaternary geology at 1:250 000 scale.This dataset is a 1:250,000 scale Quaternary geology map series showing surficial terrain deposits classified by depositional environment and geomophology in the Province of Saskatchewan. Mapping of this dataset was compiled by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA), and merged by the Government of Saskatchewan. **Please Note – All published Saskatchewan Geological Survey datasets, including those available through the Saskatchewan Mining and Petroleum GeoAtlas, are sourced from the Enterprise GIS Data Warehouse.
