Adjusted Precipitation (AHCCD)
The Adjusted Precipitation data consist of monthly, seasonal and annual totals of daily adjusted rain, snow and total precipitation (millimetres) for 464 locations in Canada. Adjusted precipitation data incorporate adjustments (derived from comparison of instruments) to the original station data to account for discontinuities from non-climatic factors, such as instrument changes or station relocation. The time periods of the data vary by location, with the oldest data available from the early 1880s at some stations to the most recent update in 2017. Observations at co-located sites were sometimes joined in order to create longer time series. Data availability over most of the Canadian Arctic is restricted to the mid-1940s to present.
Canadian Gridded Temperature and Precipitation Anomalies (CANGRD)
CANGRD is a set of Canadian gridded annual, seasonal, and monthly temperature and precipitation anomalies, which were interpolated from stations in the Adjusted and Homogenized Canadian Climate Data (AHCCD); it is used to produce the Climate Trends and Variations Bulletin (CTVB).
Individuals in Official Language Minority Communities
Map of the number of individuals in official language minority communities (according to first official language spoken, adjusted responses) by economic region. Multiple responses distributed equally among respondents. Data from 2016 Census of Canada, 100% sample.
Trend of Total Precipitation for 1948-2012 based on Canadian gridded data
Seasonal and annual trends of relative total precipitation change (%) for 1948-2012 based on Canadian gridded data (CANGRD) are available, at a 50km resolution across Canada. The relative trends reflect the percent change in total precipitation over a period from the baseline value (defined as the average over 1961-1990 as the reference period). CANGRD data are interpolated from adjusted and homogenized climate station data (i.e., AHCCD datasets). Adjusted precipitation data incorporate adjustments to the original station data to account for discontinuities from non-climatic factors, such as instrument changes or station relocation.
Territory flooded in 2017 and 2019
Since 1 March 2022, the Special Intervention Zones (ZIS) have been lifted. However, the territory flooded during the exceptional spring floods of 2017 and 2019, as illustrated in Annex 2 adjusted to Decree 814-2019, is considered by the Regulation concerning the provisional implementation of the amendments made by chapter 7 of the laws of 2021 on the management of risks related to floods (Transitional Regulation) as an area comparable to a low-current zone. The adjusted Annex 2 corresponds to the delimitation of the territory flooded during the spring floods of 2017 and 2019 in connection with the decree establishing the ZIS published on 15 July 2019, from which the portions of territory covered by the ministerial orders published on 30 December 2019 were subtracted.**This third party metadata element was translated using an automated translation tool (Amazon Translate).**
Proportion of the Official Language Minority Population
Map of the percentage of the official language minority population (according to first official language spoken, adjusted responses) within the total population by economic region. Multiple responses distributed equally among respondents. Data from 2016 Census of Canada, 100% sample.
Easements Line - Surveyed
Surveyed Easement Boundaries consists of the lines required to form the boundaries of the Easements. Trends of precipitation change based on adjusted and homogenized climate station data
Monthly, seasonal and annual trends of total precipitation change (millimetres) based on adjusted station data (AHCCD) are available. Trends are calculated using the Theil-Sen method using the station’s full period of available data. The availability of precipitation trends will vary by station; if more than 5 consecutive years are missing data or more than 10% of the data within the time series is missing, a trend was not calculated.
Trends of temperature change based on adjusted and homogenized climate station data
Monthly, seasonal and annual trends of daily minimum, mean and maximum surface air temperature change (degrees Celsius) based on homogenized station data (AHCCD) are available. Trends are calculated using the Theil-Sen method using the station’s full period of available data. The availability of temperature trends will vary by station; if more than 5 consecutive years are missing data or more than 10% of the data within the time series is missing, a trend was not calculated.
