Critical minerals advanced projects, mines and processing facilities in Canada
This dataset contains primary processing facilities (e.g., smelters and refineries), mines and advanced projects related to Canada’s 34 critical minerals. Advanced projects are those with mineral reserves or resources (measured or indicated), the potential viability of which is supported by a preliminary economic assessment or a prefeasibility/feasibility study. These sites process, produce or consider producing at least one of Canada's critical minerals, but other minerals and metals may also be present. This dataset contains links that direct to non-Government of Canada websites that are not subject to the Privacy Act, the Official Languages Act or the Standard on Web Accessibility. Please see our terms and conditions for more information (https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/terms-and-conditions/10847).Primary processing facilities and mines data are sourced from Map 900A, Principal mineral areas, producing mines, and oil and gas fields in Canada. Data on advanced critical minerals projects are produced and published annually by Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with provinces and territories. Data are compiled from a variety of public sources. Natural Resources Canada does not assume responsibility for errors or omissions. Please report any recommended revisions.

Hydrokinetic Resource Mapping - Optical Satellite Imagery Analysis of Open Water Regions in Ice-Covered Canadian Rivers
Building on the initial effort (“Database of Open Water Areas in River Ice for Provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes - Potential Locations For River Hydrokinetic Energy Extraction Identified Through Optical Satellite Imager”; weblink: https://search.open.canada.ca/openmap/d9823004-29aa-40e2-aa47-9c54cf88c309), a follow-up research project has led to the publication of this extensive analysis encompassing the entirety of Canada’s major freezing rivers. This work has applied advanced image processing and classification algorithms to the selected images, elevating the classification and analysis to a higher level of accuracy and providing a more comprehensive dataset for exploring river hydrokinetic energy prospects across the country. This dataset identifies open water areas within ice-covered major Canadian rivers, aiming to evaluate potential hydrokinetic resources. The data is derived from high-resolution optical satellite imagery obtained from Landsat and Sentinel satellites corresponding to National Research Council (NRC) 2014 flow data of river reaches with water depths of at least 10 meters and a flow velocity of a minimum of 0.5 meters per second. Using advanced image processing and machine learning algorithms, the dataset efficiently differentiates between ice-covered and open water regions, providing a reliable basis for assessing hydrokinetic energy potential in the identified areas.Disclaimer:This dataset is subject to the following limitations:• Landsat and Sentinel optical satellite images are high-resolution, but they may contain resolution errors, possible distortions, and inaccuracies in depicting on-ground conditions. • Despite advanced image processing and machine learning algorithms, errors or biases may exist. • The dataset's reliability is also influenced by the NRC flow data. Therefore, users should view this dataset as a preliminary assessment tool, not a definitive guide for decision-making or investment in hydrokinetic projects. It is strongly recommended to validate its accuracy and suitability for specific applications through additional research and studies. Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) - Points (SVW)
The dataset contains projects that are currently, or have been, subject to environmental assessment review. Attributes include the project description, project phase, decision, and proponent name. This layer consists of points themed two ways: a. Project Phase- This theme consists of layers showing what phase each project is in - pre-EA, application review, post-decision, and withdrawn or terminated; and b. Project Type - This theme consists of nine layers that reflect the potential types of projects under review. This dataset is coming from the EAO Project Information Centre (EPIC) and is updated daily. For more information on any of the project points go to https://projects.eao.gov.bc.ca/.
Manitoba Capital Plans Project Status
This dataset contains points showing the locations of the Manitoba Infrastructure's (MI) approved, new, and continuing capital projects for the year 2021/2022. Examples of MI's capital projects are asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements. This dataset contains points showing the locations of the capital projects such as asphalt surface treatment, grading, bituminous rehabilitation, concrete reconstruction, culvert jacking, intersection improvement, structures improvement, traffic signal improvements, and traffic safety improvements. This dataset was created by digitizing high-resolution imagery of Manitoba road network, bridge sites, and culvert locations. The details of the capital projects are available as attributes of the dataset. Fields included ( Alias (Field Name): Field description.) Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory (SEI) Project Boundaries
Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory (SEI) project boundaries (study areas) contains attributes describing each project (project level metadata), and includes links to the locations of other data associated with the project (e.g. reports, polygon datasets, plot files). SEI identifies and maps rare and fragile terrestrial ecosystems in a given area for the purpose of encouraging land-use decisions that will ensure the continued integrity of these ecosystems. This layer is derived from the STE_TEI_PROJECT_BOUNDARIES_SP layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE attribute. Project types include: SEI, TEMSEI, TEMSET, TEMSEW and SEIWHR. Current version: v11 (published on 2024-10-03) Previous versions: v10 (published on 2023-11-14), v9 (published on 2023-03-01), v8 (published on 2016-09-01)

Terrain Mapping (TER) project boundaries contains (study areas) and attributes describing each project (project level metadata), plus links to the locations of other data associated with the project (e.g., reports, polygon datasets, plotfiles, legends) for terrain inventory, bioterrain and terrain stability mapping projects. TER divides the landscape into units according to surficial materials, landforms and geomorphological processes using the Terrain Classification System for British Columbia. This layer is derived from the STE_TEI_PROJECT_BOUNDARIES_SP layer by filtering on the PROJECT_TYPE attribute. Project types include: TEM, TEMNSS, TEMPRE, TEMSEI, TEMSET, TEMTSM, TSM, TSMREC, TSMDET, TIM, TBS, TBT, TIMSOI, TEMWHR, TEMSDM, TEMPRW, NEMPRW, and TEMSEW. Civic Address Point
The Yukon civic address point data layer was created by Geomatics Yukon at the Yukon government on behalf of all Yukon address authorities as part of the Civic Address data management and integration project. The civic address data layer was modelled to meet the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1) data standards for site structure address points based on the Canadian GIS data model version 2.This Civic address layer is incomplete but is based on the best available data that the Yukon government contains. The original source of the data was from the polygon-based parcel address layer that was linked with legal survey parcels. This point address layer is being regularly updated as more information is provided and confirmed with the project team. Updates are expected to be loaded monthly or bimonthly. The project team is working with Yukon address authorities to compile civic addresses for all Yukon government site structures. Address authorities are the governments, municipalities, communities, and First Nations governments that are responsible for determining addresses on their land. The project team has reached out to these address authorities as part of the project to offer support to include their civic addresses into one consolidated authoritative Yukon civic address point layer that will meet these NG 9-1-1 standards. The communities and First Nations addresses will be added as they are ready and able to provide them to the project team, based on the project team's available resources. The target will be to have a complete civic address database by the end of 2024.A long term program will need to be established for maintenance of this data beyond the life of the project.Distributed from GeoYukon by the Government of Yukon.
